I agree with “hmmmmm………. ”
Somebody PLEASE explain what the fetish for BJ Upton is all about? His stats are atrocious. He hasn’t hit over .250 in what? 5 Years?
A sour attitude and bad bat? Now that’s progress. He gets thrown out too much also.
Has everyone lost their senses?

I don’t see the Braves trading Delgado and Teheran, maybe one or Hanson? We need to sign at least one free agent but Upton and Bourn have lots of options and will take $13 to $15M per year. If we can sign one Free Agent(Pagan, Ludwick or Cody Ross) for LF or CF it should be easlier to trade for another. Chase Headley or David Wright are the only players I would trade both Delgado and Teheran for! Spann or Willingham shouldn’t cost a lot to trade for.

Josh Hamilton is injury prone and isn’t worth the cost. The money needed to bring him in is better spent in other areas. BJ Upton is not someone we want in Atlanta. Trading for Justin Upton is something that Wren should look into as long as it doesn’t bust the bank. He has a much better work ethic and attitude than his big brother. BJ takes after his mother and Justin, his father, according to the reports out of Tampa. A rotation of Hudson, Medlen, Minor, Maholm, Delgado/Teheran is a good group, assuming all can stay healthy, but that’s a big “if”. Beachy will provide a little help come mid-season, but don’t expect him to be at full strength. Trading Hanson and a minor leaguer or two to get Upton would be great if the D-Backs would bite. Otherwise, the outfield will have to be fixed with guys like Shane Victorino (great fit, would love to have him), Ryan Ludwick (only interested if price is right) and Ichiro Suzuki (I’m betting against any Japanese native coming here for the next 20 years).

The Best move for center field is signing Angel Pagan……..he can hit .275-.310,hit 10-15 triples,35+doubles,and 10+homers and steal 30+bases……….Granted he is not as good a fielder as Bourn but he strikes out about half as much as Bourn and hits more consistently and is not thrown out as much on the basepaths.If the Brave’s are serious he probably would leave SF for a 4 year $50 mil contract.The Giants probably won’t spend high $ on two outfield contracts this offseason and they will probably resign Pence(he is a clubhouse leader) to a $100 mil contract.The Brave’s will not even consider Bourn’s demands at a 100 mil contract and shouldn’t………Pagan is the answer for the Brave’s centerfield vacancy!

Wren is going to sit still this year like last year figuring Jordan Schafer is the answer in center,Evan Gattis in leftfield/backup catcher and Prado at third.The Brave’s won’t spend big$ because of the big contract Uggla got and Liberty Media’s payroll restrictions.Another 2nd or 3rd place team again and no playoffs!

It’s still perplexing me that nobody can come up with an available outfielder better than Cody Ross that comes cheaper than Hamilton ($) or Upton (prospects). Are we sure the right answer isn’t Stanton on a panic sale?

Get another quality starter, further stregthen middle relief and go with what you have available in the field and the team will be competitive. Unrealistic to have sights set on a deep run in the playoffs even with overpaying a bunch of fat FAs.

I say deal for Chase Headley and sign Josh Hamilton. I would take that team any time. I think starting pitching is a question. Kris Medlen is now the ace of the staff. While he has pitched well, this has to be a concern being a year removed from Tommy John surgery. Brandon Beachy is coming off of Tommy John, Tim Hudson had Tommy John and who knows if JJ or Tommy Hanson can stay healthy and actually contribute?

Yeah, this guy is correct. Most on here talk as if pitching is not a concern, but it has a lot of question marks and all are 1 year older. The team should pick up a solid starter and,perhaps, a bargain at middle relief. Forget Hamilton; don’t reward an immature dope with more money. Look for guys with character and integrity.

Baseball is unpredictable!
Braves paid a lot on an eyeball test on a kid before he had a chance to face equivalent talent. Salcedo has now had three years and that’s enough time to determine whether a kid is going to become a superstar. There’s really no such thing as a can’t miss prospect. Injury alone can wreck a young career.
The Braves have certainly had the Midas touch with pitchers, but especially with outfielders, that touch has been less than spectacular. Certainly Jason Heyward has been outstanding. But, there are two other positions in the outfield and the Braves have been relying on rotations and free agents to fill those two slots for a long time.
Infielders have been a mixed bag — plethora of good looking shortstops and Freddie Freeman is an excellent first baseman.
Salcedo looks like another bust.

Still amazed by the negativity on these blogs. It’s not good enough to have a winning, playoff team. If you don’t like it, go be a Pirates fan.
As for Salcedo, it’s a little early to call him a bust. He’s 21 and only has 3 years under his belt. The only reason DOB is even writing about him is because Chipper retired and the Braves need a 3B. This kid wasn’t gonna be ready anymore than Bethancourt was going to be ready to take over behind the plate. Give the kid some time to mature and make adjustments. What were you doing when you were 21?

I say get rid of him and anyone else who isn’t producing in the minors. I say move Salcedo Uggla Janish and Tehran to Arizona for Upton and Pennington Then trade McCann Pennington and Pastornicky to Texas for Konrad Schmidt and Ian Kinsler. then take w/e money is left over and sign Hamilton to a 4yrs at 98

There is no way Wren is going to trade for Posey! I’m assuming you were joking! We’d have to trade Heyward, Freeman , Simmons , Teheran AND Kimbrel for the Giants to consider it. I of course am being just as ridiculous because there is no way the Braves would do that.
You don’t replace an MVP catcher who is a stud defensively, has caught a pitching staff that won 2 of the last 3 WS and hits like Pujols! Good joke though! Ha!

Perhaps Chipper will come back for another encore year and he can get gifts and, then, we can discuss/analyze each gift and rank them; and then declare every day that, yes, he is the best Brave ever, even though he ranks no better the 2 in most major statistical categories. And then we can watch McCann and Chipper sitting next to each other on the bench all season.

With Lowe, Kawakami & Chipper’s contracts off the payroll, I thought the Braves would have some money to play with to acquire some younger talent.
However I see approximately 30% of the current payroll is tied up in in just two players:
Dan Uggla (.220 average) and Brian McCann (.230)
Not exactly bang for the buck !

Hamilton would be a bad influence on these young guys. I think Hanson unless he put in work to tweak his delivery should go. Prado is not a outfielder. Uggla has under perform. Under pressure he don’t come come thru. Signing Jordan schaffer again tells you someone is not trying to win. I mean really check the stats. He must have dirt! I rather see the other upton brother from Arizona. Fransico has potential. Pastenicky can be a everyday play at second if he work hard. He may have to many passes in his back pocket though. Again Uggla is a bust.
