Is Simmons so important that we need him worse than a RH banger for LF? I am only asking because it might be interesting to discuss. Would we be better off with Upton in LF and some other SS or Simmons at SS and somebody like Cody Ross or a platoon in LF?
Personally, I’d prefer Simmons and Willingham, but I am just not thinking he is going to be available for a fair price.
For sure we’d never deal Simmons for Olt plus. We’d go straight to the D’backs instead if we were thinking about dealing Simmons.
I thought the D’backs had a big SS prospect that was getting close? Chris Owings is his name.
Six years of maybe the best defensive SS in the sport and he can hit a little. I’d want to keep him around. There needs to be more options to get that RH banger than subtracting from the young core of players we have on the ML roster. Trade from the farm system.
Maybe the Phils can help… are they considering moving JRoll? They send him to Az, get Bauer back, we send Teheran and EOF and get back Upton. Phils seem likely to go after a FA OF. Maybe that would be good for them. Rollins for Bauer is really good.
SSs, especially really good ones, are much more difficult to come by than OFs are. So, IMO, no way we trade Simmons and if we were to trade him, we’d better get an awful lot in return.
