I guess we are now the minority. Wonder what benefits come with that?
November 7th, 20121:37 am
Come on wayne, cheer up..
you know your obstructionist congress won’t let anything bad happen so no need to be such a drama queen about this.. no need to change your name to DQ1..
I’m not sure why anyone would be celebrating about getting THAT job!
November 7th, 20121:38 am
You get to keep paying for the majority! Now git ur azz back to work and quit fussin!
November 7th, 20121:39 am
Too bad you don’t have the balls to knock me with your regular moniker. Chicken shyt coward.
November 7th, 20121:40 am
Someone was just joking about a 2008 headline from The Onion Black man gets worst job in America
November 7th, 20121:41 am
Dairy Queen 1. I like Dairy Queen……..
November 7th, 20121:45 am
Maybe these guys will submit a budget sometime during this 4 years.
geez, lighten up..
November 7th, 20121:48 am
Don’t get sucked into combating this A-holes posts. He’s (probably Lou Vales) just trying to get you kicked off the blog.
Don’t know why you’d ask me that, since I am not for ANY of those things. And our present administration seems to want to give it away at the drop of a hat. Dumazz, where do you think too big to fail came from??
November 7th, 20121:49 am
You are right. But right now, I couldn’t give a shyt if they do kick me off.
Bay Area Steve
November 7th, 20121:50 am
Dentz and politics.
This’ll end well.
November 7th, 20121:51 am
You are right. But right now, I couldn’t give a shyt if they do kick me off.
But you WILL, man, you WILL!!! Turn the freaking computer off, please.
November 7th, 20121:53 am
You don’t know me. I’m a states righter. I’m for getting rid of about 95% of the federal government and ALL subsidies. Both parties are guilty.
November 7th, 20121:54 am
Yassir, mr. bossman, I’ma working hard. tonight, as we head back to the future.
Your a good man Bobby. Thanks for the advice.
You’ll have to deal with Dentz without me tonight.
November 7th, 20121:56 am
I think Dentz might be the best derisive name I’ve ever known. I wonder if you were called that in school. Maybe 6th or 7th grade, some smart-ass little kid pointing at you? That’ve been awesome, and is how I’ll choose to remember its origin.
November 7th, 20121:59 am
Kind of figures Paul would show up tonight.
November 7th, 20122:01 am
Did anyone else giggle reading the end of my last post?
November 7th, 20122:03 am
I don’t think 4more should get lumped in with Dentz.
A little antagonistic? Maybe. A regular, as Wayne said? Almost certainly. Even close to ban-worthy? I sure hope not.
November 7th, 20122:04 am
Well I would call it giggling more chuckling
November 7th, 20122:05 am
“anyone else giggle”
No giggle. But a pretty awful visual. Thanks for that.
To be fair, you only get partial blame. I just watched Leaving Las Vegas, and that horrible scene with Elisabeth Shue is stuck in my head.
November 7th, 20122:07 am
thanks BAS, just poking fun…
too much angst goin on up in here tonight…
Can a grown man admit to giggling? Any risk that a giant can of Old Milwaukee lands on your head?
November 7th, 20122:10 am
He always brings company, BAS, for someone to agree/argue/or acknowledge him.
Speaking of Vegas, Elisabeth Shue is on CSI, now. Do you watch it?
November 7th, 20122:11 am
“too much angst goin on up in here tonight…”
Well, maybe not a regular. I’m afraid angst is all we do. Lemme put this another way, for Pack (thanks for playin’ along Bobby), F’ you.
Disclaimer: this is a joke, or at least, an attempt at one; please don’t tell me to go f’ myself.
November 7th, 20122:13 am
Can a grown man admit to giggling?
Admittedly, right after I hit “submitted”, I wished I had chose, “snicker”.
November 7th, 20122:16 am
“Elisabeth Shue is on CSI”
I’ve tried a bit, but I missed the first several years, and my heart’s never in it if I ain’t there from the start. She’s as beautiful as ever, but Ted Danson just messes me all up. Dude was Sammy Frickin’ Malone. I thought his ‘Damages’ turn was strong. The lab and the white coat just ain’t working for me. Your thoughts? Unless you like the NYPD Blue guy in CSI, NY. Then you can take your thoughts and shove ‘em. (Joking… Sort of.)
Not your fault, IMO. Anyone that comes on to post should read, at least, the last 1/2 hour of comments – ESPECIALLY if they’re going to call someone out!
November 7th, 20122:20 am
Don’t know the NYPD Blue guy. Never seen the show.
I was getting a little bored with CSI… until Danson came on. His character is a little weird, but good, which got me back into it again. Shue replaced Marg.
Of course, what I like doesn’t mean you’ll like it.
November 7th, 20122:26 am
Red-hair guy. Caruso, I think. Still the lead, right?
And, if Elisabeth Shue’d been there from the start, I’d've watched. I was trying to cut back on all crime, all the time, which network TV had seemingly become, then (Still is, to some degree) Had I known it was Vegas, I wouldn’t have been able to stay away.
November 7th, 20122:28 am
BAS – that was, “CSI:Miami”. The one I’m talking about is the original, “CSI”, which has Danson starring.
November 7th, 20122:30 am
Do it, Dentz. Do it big. BIG!
Guaranteed, this cat is on no less than four other boards trolling ofr reaction. And my dumb ass is playin’ along. I rationalize by saying at least I get to call him ‘Dentz.’ That name is frickin’ legendary. I mean, the guy’s even abandoned any defense against it. It’s OK, Dentz; you’ll fool some of us, but we both know it’s you.
November 7th, 20122:31 am
I was trying to cut back on all crime, all the time
I found the more I watched, the less I committed.
November 7th, 20122:32 am
Haha, that red headed dude was funny on CSI Miami.
The Latin woman in the lab was hot.
The blond was pretty much so, too. Still, brunettes do it for me
November 7th, 20122:33 am
I thought red-hair guy was NY… Hmm. I don’t get out much. Or I don’t get out enough (ok that ain’t it).
Anywho, I know where my Elisabeth is. I have a sort of sad, creepy, old-man radar that tells me where Maria Bello and Elisabeth Shue are.
November 7th, 20122:38 am
Well I just got a thank you email from the President. Said he could have not done it without me.
I sent him one back. It said
I’ve watched too much TV since, well, I was old enough to watch TV. But, at the time, it felt like there were already six different ‘Law and Orders’, and a multitude of other crime shows I was watxhing, so I figgered I’d draw the line.
Cost me CSI, which I’m OK with, but also cost me JAG and NCIS, both of which I suspect I would’ve loved.
The blond was pretty much so, too. — That was Emily Proctor – one of the sexiest…
I thought red-hair guy was NY — That’s Gary Sinise
I have a sort of sad, creepy, old-man radar that tells me where Maria Bello and Elisabeth Shue are.
Knowing the women better than the men doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with that, BAS, even if you live near San Francisco!
November 7th, 20122:46 am
“a thank you email”
My favorite earlier was hearing thanks for the $5 and $10 donations. Yes, I’m sure a 5-spot carries much weight in a billion dollar campaign.
Disclaimer: DOB himself waved the green light. Wayne done went home early.
November 7th, 20122:47 am
I’m a hypocrite.
November 7th, 20122:48 am
I seem to remember you on late, last night, and saying you have to get up in 4 hours. I hope you can sleep a little later, this morning.
November 7th, 20122:50 am
And a drunk. Since being a drunk is worse than being a hypocrite, I should get a pass, right? ‘Cause if I could stop one, I’d stop the other?
This makes much sense to all y’all, right?
November 7th, 20122:52 am
I believe we all are at some time or other… It’s just that we seem to notice the ones that make a living being one. I’d never put you into that category.
Yeah they pretty much do, BAS.
Do the best we can and try to keep the pressure on them to do the right things.
Hope to change the make up of the SCOTUS.
Mitchell McConnel’s response tonight

Deal or go over the cliff Mitchell.
November 7th, 20122:53 am
… of course, you still have time to change my mind.
November 7th, 20122:54 am
Dammit, Bat… did you have to sneak that post in between?
Brandon McCarthy @BMcCarthy32
There are people that are optimistic enough about politicians to dance and sing at campaign HQ. This baffles me.
I know y’all talked about the guy’s wife, and the evidence there is irrefutable, but guy can pitch, when healthy, and he’s one thoughtful MFer.
Bobby, I have the alarm set for 6:30 central time. Looks like another 4 hour nights sleep. What the hell, I’ll live.

Nope, still gay…

It occurs to me if I ever actually post something to twitter, my dumb-ass hashtags might fit right in. #atleastit’snotHoneyBooBoo
November 7th, 20123:04 am
One of these days I’m gonna have to use my twitter account. If for nothing else to ask Ease what the hell his problem is. I know he follows me. Pretty light lifting for him to do so.
#it’sveryhardtospellwithnospaces — even tougher to read – if you can’t spell, that’s the way to do it.
George_George, are you reading this?
November 7th, 20123:08 am
Twitter is great for getting information. Can follow whomever you want at any time, and then unfollow.
A while before the election, I started “following” a lot of different political media people.
November 7th, 20123:11 am
I’ve had an account for several years. Never think to use it. I might be “following” 5 or 6 people.
November 7th, 20123:16 am
“Twitter is great for getting information”
It really is. I hated to admit it, but as a centralized source…
Coincidentally added my 7th today: Faux Frank Wren. Cat’s been too funny, for too long, I had to. Ron White’s about to be my first unfollow if he doesn’t shut up about his wife’s music and stop RTing ‘great show’ posts. I don’t know, how ’bout you tell a frickin’ joke; you’re a comedian.
November 7th, 20123:17 am
Bat, do you follow DOB? That’s a stupid question, right?
November 7th, 20123:19 am
The two “comedians” I follow are, Norman Chad and Alison Forns (check her out… she’s gorgeous!)
November 7th, 20123:23 am
You ever load a webpage, and all the apostrophes are some weird version of an ‘n’ and random tildes, or whatever? #lifeishard
Murph, quit callin’ out the AJC, and fix THAT!
November 7th, 20123:24 am
I follow DOB but never use it. I tweeted him when I thought I was banned last year to ask what the deal was. He said something like how the hell should I know, I didn’t ban you.
November 7th, 20123:28 am
Based on a 27 second Alison Forns twitter scroll, she doesn’t pass. Though, she does look good, and Bat, she is a brunette.
Norman Chad, based on H’s rec and his poker commentary is in, twitter feed unseen.
I remember reading that, Bat. That was some kind of tech-problem, right?
BTW, shouldn’t I stop talking to you so you’ll get some, albeit a little, sleep?
November 7th, 20123:30 am
“how the hell should I know, I didn’t ban you.”
November 7th, 20123:32 am
A brunette, I’ll check here out then, BAS.
Good memory, Bobby. My modem was breaking down. Replaced it problem solved.
Yeah, I should call it a night. Still it’s been a good one and I’ve enjoyed it.
November 7th, 20123:34 am
November 7th, 20123:35 am
Me too, Bat. Now, get some sleep!
Whats weird is I’m getting pretty good at reading them.
November 7th, 20123:38 am
Y’all take care.
November 7th, 20123:40 am
The hardest part, Bat, is TYPING them. It’s so automatic to hit the space bar.
November 7th, 20123:41 am
I used to think you shouldn’t post here without reading all comments. I’ve come, reluctantly, to know that ain’t feasible. Still, I scroll every page. And, I promise day or night, this place has some crazy, and anybody calling out the night-shift ought to take a look in a nicely-shined mirror.
Nite, Bat (man, I thought we’d never get rid of him, BAS)

Bat Masterson drunken hashtags:
November 7th, 20123:45 am
“never get rid of him”
November 7th, 20123:50 am
BAS – have you ever checked out, Ease, on twitter, to see if he’s there?
November 7th, 20123:52 am
Lew scrolls. Love that guy. Grand Pop is who he is.
The overwhelming majority scroll the current page. Some look at that page harder than others, but very, very few even do that, and virtually nobody goes back one.
November 7th, 20123:55 am
Maybe because I only come on at night, lately, but I HAVE to scroll the night stuff… mainly for the entertainment value – not, necessarily, for the baseball knowledge.
November 7th, 20123:57 am
BTW, speaking of Lew, don’t you love his sarcasm when he gets a bit pissed at someone! I think he’s one of the funniest on here.
November 7th, 20123:58 am
Ease got busy. You could see it coming. He was a workplace guy (as I am, when not hammered), and if work-play time goes away… New job…
November 7th, 20124:05 am
A combative Lew is probably wjat spawned this place. Obviously ‘OB is the seed, but the comments were the water. A PO’d Lew is as good as we get. Last time us night-shifters commented on his obstinance he got all irritated. Do I disagree at times, sure. Is he a homer, sure. Do I love everything about his presence here, abso-frickin’-lutely.
I hear you, BAS. This past season was my fourth on here, but rarely have the time during the off-season.
I only mentioned Ease on twitter, because I thought someone mentioned him here.

One of the most insightful articles I’ve read. Business. Player values. Draft. Fan expectations, etc. Q & A with GM Mark Shapiro of the Indians. Apology, if it had already been linked. An excerpt..
Q: Are there statistical measures of, this manger could be worth this many wins?
A: I think the easiest way to look at that in a very crude way is the expected wins for a team in a year and who outperforms. Or what manager outperforms run differential. Are there managers who outperform run differential year after year? Run differential creates an expected number of wins. Go back and look for the manger that hold jobs for a long period of time, like Tony La Russa, Mike Scioscia. Those guys consistently outperform the run differential for their team. I’m not saying it’s just the manager, but you got to believe the manager is playing some role in that.
November 7th, 20129:06 am
As for Trade Targets here’s my top list.
1. Justin Upton, Great defender, RH power
2. Chase Headley, Switch Hitter, Keeps Prado and his great D in LF
3. Josh Willingham ,RH power, favorable contract
4. Denard Span, Great defender, solid leadoff man
5. Michael Morse, RH power bat, favorable contract, within division tho..
After those 4 guys it drops off alot.
Peter Bourjos and Ben Revere fit defensively in CF but will come with questions offensively.
Shin Soo Choo would be a nice pick up for LF, but he’s a LH batter so not really a fit in the lineup.
Coco Crisp would be a ok option for CF even tho I’m not a fan.
Ryan Doumit would be a solid pickup cause he could help behind the plate and provide security if McCann were to have a set back and so on. He also has the ability to play 1st base and corner outfield, switch hitter with power. Makes alot of sense to me for our club.
November 7th, 20129:10 am
Maybe the Braves can work out a trade with the Twins that brings us Denard Span and Ryan Doumit. We’d have our CF/Leadoff man in place for the next few seasons and Doumit is a huge upgrade to the bench specially with our catching situation.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
