I’ve tried a bit, but I missed the first several years, and my heart’s never in it if I ain’t there from the start. She’s as beautiful as ever, but Ted Danson just messes me all up. One of the most insightful articles I’ve read. Business. Player values. Draft. Fan expectations, etc. Q & A with GM Mark Shapiro of the Indians. Apology, if it had already been linked. An excerpt..
Q: Are there statistical measures of, this manger could be worth this many wins?
A: I think the easiest way to look at that in a very crude way is the expected wins for a team in a year and who outperforms. Or what manager outperforms run differential. Are there managers who outperform run differential year after year? Run differential creates an expected number of wins. Go back and look for the manger that hold jobs for a long period of time, like Tony La Russa, Mike Scioscia. Those guys consistently outperform the run differential for their team. I’m not saying it’s just the manager, but you got to believe the manager is playing some role in that. http://www.foxsportsohio.com/10/25/12/A-conversation-with-the-Indians-Mark-Sha/landing_indians1.html?blockID=809163&feedID=3652
1. Justin Upton, Great defender, RH power
2. Chase Headley, Switch Hitter, Keeps Prado and his great D in LF
3. Josh Willingham ,RH power, favorable contract
4. Denard Span, Great defender, solid leadoff man
5. Michael Morse, RH power bat, favorable contract, within division tho..
After those 4 guys it drops off alot.
Peter Bourjos and Ben Revere fit defensively in CF but will come with questions offensively.
Shin Soo Choo would be a nice pick up for LF, but he’s a LH batter so not really a fit in the lineup.
Coco Crisp would be a ok option for CF even tho I’m not a fan.
Ryan Doumit would be a solid pickup cause he could help behind the plate and provide security if McCann were to have a set back and so on. He also has the ability to play 1st base and corner outfield, switch hitter with power. Makes alot of sense to me for our club.
Maybe the Braves can work out a trade with the Twins that brings us Denard Span and Ryan Doumit. We’d have our CF/Leadoff man in place for the next few seasons and Doumit is a huge upgrade to the bench specially with our catching situation.

As for Trade Targets here’s my top list.
