Efrim i give my opinion and you call it nonsense but I speak the truth. It is not nonsense in my book and that is the bottom line. I think Prado is the best player in the MLB. He can play any position and is a asset that can not be denied. I even heard he has a knuckle ball that can not be hit. What you think about that now?

Jimmy – My view on it? Just going by the way they’ve done things since Wren took over. Is that the way it will shake out? I have no idea, but they copuld have anounced it by now and they haven’t. So looks like I could well be right. If not? Well, I guess I’ll just concede that Wren did it differently than usual.
But honestly? WTF difference does it really make? How come no one’s actually come up with a reason that it actually matters?

Lew and Jimmy, I think he’s waiting as long as he can just to be on the safe side because that’s usually what you do when you’re investing millions in a player coming off surgery. I don’t think the Braves are not confident that the surgery “didn’t take” or whatever. I don’t think they are going to decline the option. I just think they are waiting it out because they can and it’s the safe way to go.

Who should get qualifying offers?
By Ben Lindbergh Baseball Prospectus
For the next several days, much of the baseball world will be watching the Detroit Tigers and San Francisco Giants fight it out in the Fall Classic. But for the 28 teams whose seasons have already ended, the focus will be on what to do once the World Series is over and the winter’s work begins.
As soon as the World Series ends, eligible players will become free agents. Under the new CBA, teams can still seek draft-pick compensation for departing free agents, but the old system of classifying free agents as “Type A” and “Type B” based on past performance has been abolished. Now, a team that wants to receive a compensatory pick at the end of the first round in the following year’s amateur draft has to make a “qualifying offer”: a one-year contract equal to the average of the top 125 salaries from the previous season (in this case, $13.3 million).
A player’s former team can continue to negotiate with him if he rejects the offer, but if he signs somewhere else, his new team will have to forfeit either a first- or a second-round pick (the first 10 picks are protected). A team can’t be compensated for a free agent unless he spent the whole season on its roster, which rules out mid-season trade targets like Ryan Dempster, Zack Greinke, Anibal Sanchez, and Shane Victorino (not to mention the amazing Marco Scutaro).
Qualifying offers must be extended by 5:00 PM Eastern on the fifth day after the World Series. Players who receive them will have until the seventh day after the Series to accept or reject. So which players are good candidates for qualifying offers, and what will their teams decide to do?
Easy decisions
Josh Hamilton, Texas Rangers
Kyle Lohse, St. Louis Cardinals
David Ortiz, Boston Red Sox
Jake Peavy, Chicago White Sox
Rafael Soriano, New York Yankees
Nick Swisher, Yankees
Difficult decisions
Michael Bourn, Atlanta Braves
A qualifying offer would be a sizeable raise for Atlanta’s free-agent outfielder, but Bourn is a Scott Boras client, and his agent will want to pursue a bigger payday. The Braves might still bring him back, but they’ll make sure to get themselves a draft picking before deciding whether to up their offer.
Will he receive a qualifying offer? Yes
Edwin Jackson, Washington Nationals
Hiroki Kuroda, Yankees
Shaun Marcum, Milwaukee Brewers(No)
Mike Napoli, Texas Rangers (No)
B.J. Upton, Tampa Bay Rays

Wren said he only wants Premium players, wonder what his definition of one is?
While I think Josh Willingham would be a great fit for us I don’t view him as a premium player and never have. He’ll be 34 years old before the season starts and has had some injury concerns over the years. Average Defender at best, but is RH power bat who could bat cleanup between Heyward and Freeman. Past 8 season’s Willingham has averaged 131 games a season and owns a career 845 OPS. Salary Commitments is only 14 million total for the next 2 seasons. But will have to trade a couple prospects to land him as well. Helluva bargain if he produces close to career norms. Main reason I don’t believe he’s a premium player is his current age and also he’s never played more 145 games in a season.
