Andrus is not a fit here cause we already have Prado at 3rd and Simmons at short.

And Texas is aware of Mc Cann’s injury condition.

Prado can stay in left. Everyone is aware of McCann’s injury but if we are willing to pick up his option then I am sure they will as well, especially with the DH. At that point you have a trmendous amount of money for a CF player.

Homer read my earlier post. Rangers are catcher looking. McCann for Andrus. Let Andrus lead off and play 3rd. Save 10 million. Get a real center fielder with those savings.

Jimmy — We would also have to spend some of the $$$$$$$$$ on a catcher, not alot out there this off season.

Could afford a journeyman type like Shoppach.

Would be very fitting if the cards lost this series by blowing it. They have spent the last couple of years capitalizing on everybody else’s mistakes, this time they are the ones the blew it. They’re a good team but this run over the last two years wasn’t entirely of their making.

Tired of reading story’s about what we got, I know Phi going after hamilton and headley, mets going after willingham and soo-chin gnats going after bourn and the fish going after Arod and Upton, I want some inside skinny on what the Braves going do. I already know Beachy is good.

OK Homer, that made no sense because a) You don’t get Andrus without trading McCann b) McCann cannot play 3rd now much less 3 years from now c) McCann isn’t signing short term and isn’t worth it long term. Keep playing though

I did not know to laugh or be happy when the Braves signed Jody Davis and i wished i could have a team like the A’s during those times and my wished was ans. but I not know it bring this much heart ache. It goes passed the 82 called game in game one but to Lonnie Smith bad base running to bringing in Charle Liembrant srry if i spell his name wrong after a fastball pitcher to give up a HR. Watching Avery and justice go. Juistice for Griss. i mean really. to see Turner lose his heart and sell us to the ultimimate. I not watch in 95 I was young and stupid and said if the players go on strike i go on strike, i still not have my championship. I was to young in 80 with UGA, dont even get me started on Christian of the yr Eugine robbison of 98 for the falcons, Give up the Flames and they win a championship the next yr. What is this a freak’n joke. D. White got us in 82 this is a nightmare

Don’t want Willingham. He had a great year so his value is at a peak and his production was far higher than his norm for most stats. You NEVER buy high. Yes, he might have a good year or two, but it’s just not worth the risk.

My thoughts if you are really wanting to get crazy. the Mets will no doubt pick up the option on David Wright, but as soon as is legal the Braves should offer up whatever it takes. Give them three young arms if needed .. they are easier to find these days than stud third basemen in their prime. Then be prepared to sign Wright for long term. I don’t know if it’s legal in baseball but maybe they could work out a contract before the trade. No idea.

That frees Prado up for the position I think that he played his best at last year. Left field. He is a potential Gold Glover in LF now that they actually give GG’s by true position and not just to 3 RF/CF’s. He is probably the best in the NL I think.

Then worry about CF. I don’t give Bourn a big offer. Quite frankly he will be overpriced and he tanked in the second half. Don’t get me wrong, he is a premier talent at the leadoff spot, but withthe extra TV money teams will have to throw around this offseason he will be overpriced. Pagan’s locker was too close to Melky and his season was an aberration … DO NOT TRUST IT. I think you know what I am hinting at.

How abotu this in CF .. Tyler Pastornicky. He is fast. He is a solid contact hitter. He will be cheap for years and could be groomed to be the Braves CF. He is a better fielder than fans gave him credit for .. the real problem was they were comparing him to Simmons which wasn’t good. You can also platoon Constanza in CF.

So basically, you move some pitchers but should still have depth. You spend money on Wright and fill in the other positions. Quite frankly, if the Braves could make it happen it’s a much better scenario than a career middling hitter with weak fielding in Left and a potential chemical casualty in Center.

The big hole is the GM Wren…… Once he gets a brain transplant and can think baseball we will be OK !

Peter

Wren screwed up the Braves 3 years ago when he traded Blanco for Rick Ankiel….. he messed up the chemistry big time.

For some reason the Braves believe we need a softball type team………. All players that can hit the long ball and do marginally other stuff.

Reality says more clubs like the Giants win with speed, defense and clutch hitting that includes hitting singles, and doubles with the occasional long ball. And of course pitching, which the Braves have.

We had that team with Infante and Blanco starting……along with Prado, Chipper, and then the rest of the supporting cast.

Infante was traded for Uggla, who historically had a big bat, but was a lousy fielder…..funny hit bat sucks, and he fielded better this year. I would still rather have Infante because he would have cost us $3.5 million compared to the $13 million plus they will be giving Uggla.

For some reason even Bourne who led the league in stolen basses for the last few years had his steal total go way down……The reason in my opinion is that “SAFE ” mentality…..don’t want to make an out when you have a Big Bobber coming up.

So that mentality will be with this club until management and coaches change with the reality, in the long run that is not how to win.

Aggression on the base paths win, and guys who are capable of being patient at the plate who can hit with 2 strikes win….. Like Blanco, who hit a triple with two strikes.

Also when there are guys on base patience is needed the pitcher is in trouble, and an over aggressive hitter makes the mistakes instead of walking…we are seeing that with the Tigers this World Series.

You folks want to believe we need all this power are mistaken……. we need more speed, and better batters that don’t strike out and kill rallies like Uggla.

Atlanta will not win with the current philosophy period…… they will always come close and that is about it.

@Peter; Prime example; The Freak’n Detroit “Big Bopper” Tigers w/ power numbers up & down the lineup, yet are winless to the Hapless “G”s, man, give me some freak’n prado’s, clutch hitt’n 2strike hitter’s who are key word, Disciplined, tough outs, workin’ the count, don’t just flail – hack’n at anything up there, have an approach, know you’re zone, the strikezone, wrisp, you know to clutch up, quality at bats, not strike out so easy, when you do easy & often(Uggs), then you have no clue, & a pitcher sees this confidently make you fish or flail at anything. I’ll take what the Giants got right now because, the last 2 out of three years is working right for ‘em. Heck, we can’t much less get a sniff past 1 playoff game much less gett’n through the first round.
