It’s scary to me when folks think there’s not much of a difference between the two sides. There is a lot at stake here. Our founding fathers would not recognize the republic that they set up.
October 22nd, 20125:23 pm
Yes,to say there is no difference between those two is comical.
October 22nd, 20125:26 pm
there is too much difference IMO. polarization of the process gets worse and worse, one of the results being that the elected individuals will not work together enough to ge much accomplished at all

A video game isn’t the same as computerized fantasy baseball….
And especially if you’re talking about RTTS mode as the only person you control is the one and only YOU…..

Efrim Chipper Jones has retired and Brian McCann’s potential future in Atlanta will likely be limited to the 2013 season. (Bowman)
Bowman has always been strongly on the side that McCann will not return to Atlanta after 2013. I think it’s way too early to have a strong opinion one way or the other.
He really bugs me in that respect. Yeah, he acts like no way BMac will be coming back after next year, and that’s just a little on the irritating side…But I think last Fall Bowman had a bit of a crush going with Bethancourt, so I think he’s thinking he’s gonna be Johnny Bench come 2014, and BMac will be some old, broken-down catcher who wants all this money, and frankly—personal favoritism bias aside—I just do not think that will be the case.
sorry it is still not real and thus fantasy
October 22nd, 20125:30 pm
The thing I have enjoyed the most about this years iteration….
They brought the co-op mode back that made ASB so awesome…..
And other than screaming my head off at a friend for missing a flyball in a franchise game its been pretty good
October 22nd, 20125:32 pm
Bethancourt has a great arm and throws well and he is pretty athletic for his size, but from what I hear from guys who see him regularly he is still not all that good a defensive catcher overall and his bat is very questionable as to whether he hits much at all in the show
October 22nd, 20125:34 pm
I like many enjoy it and its a nice hobby to have when winter time hits and I can no longer play or when I just feel like having a more relaxing day on the couch….
We can’t all be winners and play ball 24/7/365
October 22nd, 20125:35 pm
TOBF but when he can go to the AL and likely easily get 6 years, 15+mil… it’s gonna be tough.
Blah—he doesn’t like the DH, anyway…
October 22nd, 20125:36 pm
Tell that to Bowman, will ya??…
October 22nd, 20125:37 pm
DS1 – I see clear differences between both parties, but that doesn’t mean I like either of them or what they have come to represent (both are steeped in special interest dollars).
Yeah Nolie, I’m a wasted vote. I’m boycotting the two major parties.
For me, its the principle that matters here, not the results of the election.
October 22nd, 20125:38 pm
So he says. We’ll see. It’d prolong his career for sure. We can’t have him play 1B often like Posey does cuz of Freeman. I don’t know if Mac can play LF. He probably has another 3-4 good years behind the plate… if he’s willing to take less to stay here, great. He may do that, being a hometown kid and all.
October 22nd, 20125:39 pm
PT, coop mode is indeed awesome. One of my favorite baseball game innovations from the last 10 years.
October 22nd, 20125:42 pm
Probably the biggest reasons to vote for president are court appointments (especially the supreme court) and foreign policy, because those are ares where the president and the president alone, pretty much, holds a great deal of power. Not much difference on foreign policy but the court appointments could really differentiate the two candidates at some point, perhaps in the distant future, perhaps sooner. That’s all I’m saying about politics.
October 22nd, 20125:44 pm
TOBF if he’s willing to take less to stay here, great. He may do that, being a hometown kid and all.
I could see that…He kinda already did it once…
October 22nd, 20125:45 pm
As Monty Brewster said, vote none of the above.
October 22nd, 20125:46 pm
40 to 50 million for pagan? i want some of whatever DOB’s been toking
October 22nd, 20125:50 pm
I see that as kinda different though McFann… the team gave him a guaranteed contract, buying out his pre-arb and arb years, + 1 of free agency. That was a security move it seemed. Now he gets to cash out big… who knows what happens, I just hope he does well next year, and we can afford to keep him for another 3-4.
Gotta run folks. Peace.
October 22nd, 20125:52 pm
But these days Sunday night TV is just ridiculously good: Homeland, Boardwalk Empire, Treme, Dexter, The Good Wife… The person or persons who conceived of TiVo/DVR technology belongs in the Leisure Time Hall of Fame
DOB, you left out The Mentalist.
That show is fantastic!
If you haven’t given it a chance, I highly recommend it! It’s very addicting, right from the Pilot
October 22nd, 20125:56 pm
Thing is McFann, nothing against you, but he simply hasn’t gotten good enough at any point behind the plate to continue to be a C if he goes to an AL team, which he more than likely will….
Team friendly deals are one thing, but I frankly can’t even see the Braves going anywhere near what Yadi is gonna get from the Cardinals, and given the rather small market for players of Mac’s caliber, C or DH, I think someone will more than float him enough cash to say goodbye to the Braves….
I don’t agree w/ Bowman on everything or even most of what he says, but we have had extensive discussions about this and I agree that Mac most likely walks after 2013 whether the Braves offer an extension or not
October 22nd, 20125:57 pm
It’s easy to understand why some folks are apathetic. But it’s also scary. But one choice this year has a track record of working with the other side. One not so much.
Fair and balanced. You decide.
October 22nd, 20125:59 pm
I will never understand for the life of me how some folks are so totally dismissive of Mac’s work behind the plate. While he is not Gold Glove material, he is certainly not the slouch that some of you would have us think.
Perplexing four shore.
October 22nd, 20126:00 pm
People must be falling asleep at the switch at AJC….
I thought I recall “politics” being an off limits subject on here….
That said I could care less to watch the debates….at least I know with WWE tonight if two guys have an argument in the ring, its going to lead to an *ss whoopin of some kind
October 22nd, 20126:03 pm
2014 salaries: Miguel Montero 10mil; Joe Mauer 23mil; Molina 15mil
I bet Mac wants to be between Molina and Mauer, assuming he has a career norm season. Not sure if the Braves would go that high, esp. not for more than 3 years. Is Molina’s D worth the extra 4-5mil over what Mac may get from the Braves? Mac may not feel that way. Or he may be charitable and take the paycut. It’d be great if he does, we’ll have to start paying Freeman and Hey soon…
October 22nd, 20126:10 pm
BMac only made 2 errors this year…and with a bum throwing shoulder…nobody seems to notice that…
P-Town Brave I agree that Mac most likely walks after 2013 whether the Braves offer an extension or not
We need to think happy thoughts, dangit! Too many folks try to pass along these depressing things as “reality”. Well, it’s not reality yet, so I’m not gonna accept it right now…
…And I prolly won’t even if it *does become* reality!…
We trying to make this the longest running, most comment blog of all time?

looking at defensive metrics… Yadi saved more runs. 3 errors this year. Later folks
October 22nd, 20126:16 pm
We’ve only been talking in generalities today. I suspect nobody has gotten their feelings hurt in any way. Mainly talking about how folks should approach their civic duty.
But sorry if I have offended anyone. I do hope you will all look at this very important election, study out the arguments on both sides, and make a decision that fits your vision for America.
Gotta run. Go Jazz, Go Giants, Go Frozen Custard, and Go ________ (guess)!
October 22nd, 20126:30 pm
I didn’t say it was a big deal, I was originally just razzing Shaun about it, nothing serious at all
October 22nd, 20126:31 pm
have a long long time to go Pat, pretty sure we have hit 15,000 + two or three times
October 22nd, 20126:52 pm

October 22nd, 20126:54 pm
We’ve only been talking in generalities today. I suspect nobody has gotten their feelings hurt in any way.
You hurt my feelings when you said I was the blog equivalent of Bourjos. Not nice. Although it still didn’t give me the right to compare you to Melky, and for that, I apologize.

October 22nd, 20127:06 pm
Why would anybody give up top prospects for Chase Headley? He will be a FA after 2013. That makes no sense.
October 22nd, 20127:25 pm
Bmac decision will be an easy one.
Bmac will be a Brave next year because the Braves have no other real option for a team that still wants to try and win. And I think they want to do that. Ross can’t play every day assuming he comes back and I gotta believe if Rossy is assured Bmac will be back he will return also. BCourt is not ready yet.
Then if he has a good rehab and has a year like he has always had before this last one they will sign him again. If he isn’t the same guy as he was before this year, he’ll be done in Atlanta and it’ll be a sad day for the Braves but if he can’t get it done thats what’ll need to happen.
October 22nd, 20127:34 pm
B mac is going come back on fire. He was in great pain but he did not give up last yr. He stuck with his team and gave all he got. B mac is a sure thing next yr.
October 22nd, 20127:36 pm
He even told FG to bench him in the play in game. They don’t make them like B mac anymore. The kid is a hard core winner
October 22nd, 20127:42 pm
And even if it was 2013 – you’re getting Headley for a full year and a Top 40 draft pick when he leaves. Of course you’d have to give up top prospects.
October 22nd, 20127:48 pm

It’s scary to me when folks think there’s not much of a difference between the two sides. There is a lot at stake here. Our founding fathers would not recognize the republic that they set up
AGREED, However both candidates are very poor this year, OBAMA is are worst presidenT since CARTER and THE republicans could have done much better with thier choice of candidate.
Jesse Sanchez @JesseSanchezMLB
Back on international front, #Braves have signed most prospects (24) since 7/2 period began. #Rays have spent most money, est. $3.66 million
Happy they are active. Wish it was less players, higher bonuses for an “elite” few – like the Rays.
You are right, he has Arb until 2014 not a free agent until 2015
October 22nd, 20127:51 pm
DOWN ON THE FARM
3B ED SALCEDO [.135 BA] 0-4, 1 E [3, throwing].
Six games in the field, three ererors to date.
RHSP ZEKE SPRUILL [W 1-0, 1.04 ERA] 3.1 IP, 3 H, zeros, 2 BB, 1 SO.
Well, at least ZEKE showed up for work today.
October 22nd, 20127:54 pm
No difference in the 2 sides at all. Unless you going bring in Ron Paul they are both the same. I will not comment again on politics
October 22nd, 20127:56 pm
It’s the 535 people in Congress who actually make the laws
October 22nd, 20127:57 pm
Earller today Jeffrey d said BRAVES should try to sign MELKY. That would not be a good move at all. MELKY is trouble.

October 22nd, 20128:03 pm
I know jeffrey.
October 22nd, 20128:06 pm
You better keep Bmac. Yall want some bozo like pierzynski to come here? No thank you. I want Bmac back jack.
October 22nd, 20128:11 pm
I want to watch game tonight, problem is I don’t care who wins.
October 22nd, 20128:12 pm
I see that Homer is just as much an idiot about political parties as he is about baseball
October 22nd, 20128:14 pm
I agree with the earlier posts about polarization. Only the nut cases on both extremes can be happy with these two
October 22nd, 20128:15 pm
Mlb players are on another level like Lance Armstrong. Most of them still on it. Blood fusions to make millions for your family is a small price to play. NHL don’t even test when the season begins. Stop wasting our money on ROIDS and let it be. Roids put a better entertainment product on the field for us to watch. Baseball blossomed during Mark Mcgwire, B. Bonds and corked bat sosa era. What is next banning protein shakes, NO pre energy drinks, and creatine? Enough of this Salem Witch trial nonsense. FYI all cyclist use enhancements or they could not do what they do.
October 22nd, 20128:17 pm
I think Salcedo has a negative trade value now. Seems like at the beginning of this past year he took a step foward in terms of hitting. His fielding has always been suspect but now his hitting and fielding are suspect.
October 22nd, 20128:21 pm
Salcedo has been the biggest let down I have ever seen. Wish the Mlb not stop the Indians from signing him when the stoppage was put in place because of the question of his age
October 22nd, 20128:23 pm
They can take the titles away from ARMSTRONG, but not the fact he won the races anymore then the fact PENN ST won the football games.
Durango is the one that has my attention
I think Salcedo usually starts the season okay and then tanks the second half as the pitchers get a read on him. I think the best thing that can be said about him at this point is that he is still very young and has time to improve if he can
October 22nd, 20128:25 pm
Good chance Durango might be gone by next season. Hard to see them keeping both Constanza and him
That is some French hate us for saving them not once but twice for saving their country. So they hate on Armstrong and vandalize our graves on Omaha Normady
October 22nd, 20128:28 pm
FYI all cyclist use enhancements or they could not do what they do..
They could do what they do, but maybe not quite as fast. The average pro biker works harder in a month that a MLB player does in a year. I really don’t know how they do it now but they used to draw a litre of blood a month or so before a major competion and freeze it. The body restrored the lost litre and then a day or two before the competion, they would add the extra that they drew a month before.
It was like a turbo charger in the body with more blood to carry more oxygen to the muscles. But those racers put out performances that went far beyond what other sports do as far as effort..
October 22nd, 20128:29 pm
You would think they would love us for Omaha and Patton’s tanks but instead they hate us and take it out on Armstrong. Bail them out of 2 wars and they hate us. Take Armstrong’s title’s away is a joke. He is a champ in my book.
I am sort of guessing that the Braves choose not to pick up the option on Mc Cann.
I don’t like it but understand the business side of it coupled with the injury recovery.
For that kind of $$$$$$$$ they really have to be sure they are paying someone they are sure will produce. Who knows how ready B Mac will be in April and June. Tough break, will always wish Mc Cann the best.
As for Armstrong, he is not the only one in that sport doping (if is all true). I don’t care about cycling but that sport seems pretty corrupt.
October 22nd, 20128:31 pm
Armstrong earned his titles the same way Reggie Bush earned his Heisman.
The NCAA is as much of a joke as the cycling federation is.
Never saw why a bunch of grown men racing bikes in France made sporting news any way!
October 22nd, 20128:32 pm
I will be kind of surprised if they pass on McCann, but i guess it is possible.
He certainly showed a lot of guts playing with most medical people are now saying must have been very bad pain
That is rightkeylargo they could not do it without enhancements. What they do is beyond logic
October 22nd, 20128:33 pm
Salcedo is so far away that we cannot seriously count on him for sometime if ever.
He was a sort after prospect but is not the first hot shot that has problems in proffessional ball.
I am not counting on him making it to the majors at this point. Maybe he improves, hope so.
October 22nd, 20128:34 pm
probably the best to way to view him Disgusted. maybe someday
October 22nd, 20128:35 pm
Thinking NCAA players should play for free is a joke. Ncaa has to much money and stops the nfl from having farm teams. Those kids are poor and should be paid money to play football
“I will be kind of surprised if they pass on McCann, but i guess it is possible.
He certainly showed a lot of guts playing with most medical people are now saying must have been very bad pain”
That he showed so much guts and has given us so much over the yrs is going to be sad if they have to pass on him but you know how business oriented this ownership is.
I cannot imagine what he has gone through the last yr and a half but I do not want him playing anywhere till he really is right.
October 22nd, 20128:37 pm
You got that right Homer of A-Town on the 8:35 post.
These kids should be able to sell their jersey if they want to — the NCAA is archaic.
Its all about them, the $$$$$$$$ for the schools and not about the kids.
October 22nd, 20128:43 pm
NCAA ruined Mauice Clarett’s life by not letting him go pro after the first yr.. He was not college material and turned to crime because the NCAA not let him make a living for himself
October 22nd, 20128:45 pm
I could see the Braves going for a Rony Paulino or Kelly Shoppach type to compliment Ross.
They are not spending for Napoli, so the rest of the FA list of catchers are of the journeyman servicable type.
Its gonna be a drop off if Mc Cann is not kept, no doubt about it, but you know the $$$$$$$$$$.
I fail to see how that’s the NCAA’s fault
I hear talk of not picking up Moholm’s option. That would just be crazy if they do not pick up his option
October 22nd, 20128:46 pm
October 22nd, 2012
I don’t think the BRAVES will want to upset most of thier fans by not picking up option on BRIAN, that would mean they lost thier two big name players last year. I AGREE with your 8:31 on ARMSTRONG.
October 22nd, 20128:47 pm
Not picking up Malholm’s option would be plain cheap.
But I would not be surprised.
What are you going to get for 6.5 mil.
October 22nd, 20128:48 pm
A-Town — Clarett sort of ruined his own life with bad decisions.
Not a big NCAA fan but come on — Clarett acted entitled after one good freshman yr.
I have a game plan that will work, take from phi. the 2 they not resign, Polanco and Pierre, keep the money and make a big move during the All Star break. That is how it can be done son.
October 22nd, 20128:49 pm
I would pick up Maholm. He had a 3.54 ERA after we got him, that is a solid # 3
Yea, I just put Clarett out there. I get carried away a lot and talk a lot of nonsense but sometimes I hit bulls eye, lol
October 22nd, 20128:51 pm
George George — I do think given all the circumstances, there is a part of the Braves fandom who would understand if they do pass on B Mac.
At that $$$$$$$$$ and Brian’s injury status, this ownership would take a PR hit under these circumstances.
None of us will like it — and I won;t but its what I expect from LM.
October 22nd, 20128:52 pm
maholm was dealing this yr. I like that guy. He just can’t pitch in milwaukee
haven’t really seen any of that bullseye stuff yet dude.
Well dude you don’t like what I say then why comment on me DUDE?
October 22nd, 20128:54 pm
Homer of A town — You could come up with some better examples than Clarrett where the NCAA really hurt the kids.
But the good tough ones who stay in football shape and stay focused find a way to maximize their potential assuming they stay healthy.
Healthy is the number one issue in football.
cause I felt like it , don’y brag about nonexistent bullseyes and I might not dude
October 22nd, 20128:55 pm
I don’t HooRah DUDE, I don’t get brainwashed by the marines DUDE, I am my own man DUDE, so you HooRah and I will sleep in late, DUDE
Outta here to watch games and some of the presidentail thing. Have a good one, nite all.
I really cannot see them passing on Malholm.
I’d rather non tender Hanson.
October 22nd, 20128:56 pm
On the one hand, I can think that since these athletes are making money for the NCAA, why shouldn’t they profit?
But on the other hand….I could see these athletes doing really stupid things if they could do stuff like sell their jerseys.
Go to Arb with Hanson, he has a lot of K’s and can be of trade value at the all star break
October 22nd, 20128:57 pm
I do think both candidates are good men but there are real differences between the two.
That is how I see it — no more politics from me tonite.
October 22nd, 20128:58 pm
Hanson is not worth a green bologna sandwich after the All-Star break.
I am as disgusted with him as I am with the Georgia defense.
October 22nd, 20128:59 pm
MLB says Rangers looking for a catcher. How about McCann for Andrus. Put Andrus at 3rd and let him leadoff. Saves money too.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
