Would you trade Uggla’s remaining three year contract to the Rangers for Michael Young’s bloated final contract year which is 16 million for 2013 I believe? Then we’re free after next year of Uggla, but suffer a little this year with young’s contract. The Rangers might be interested to use Uggla at DH to try and regain some power they are going to lose assuming Hamilton isn’t resigned. Young could play third next year, but at this point in his career most say second is his best position, Either way, Prado could play the other. We could set ourselves up for 2014 flexibility.

bravedan – Not sure whether Wren will go for a FA like Pagan for CF and trade for someone else like Willingham for LF. Or if they trade for Span and Willingham. Or trade for Span and find a LFer through Free Agency. Or find a RH hitting LFer who rakes against LHP and platoons Prado and the new guy in LF with Prado playing 3B when LHP is on the mound and Francico at 3B and Prado in LF against RHP. Or maybe Frank goes out and comes up with a deal none of us saw coming.
Lots of potential scenarios, plenty of cash available and a good bit of minor league pitching talent (and maybe even Hanson) to trade. A couple things seem definite – that changes will be made, they have the wherewithall to make the changes and that no matter what track FW takes, there will be plenty that disagree with his choices.

The first episode of American Horror Story was chock full of eye opening scenes of true horror. This was far better and more interesting than last year and I hope they can keep it up.

Morning, Lew, how ya doing? Is it cold up there yet? I would love to see us get Pagan for CF, he is a nice player who seems to be improving each year. We are going to need a catcher to share the job with Ross until BMac gets back…I don’t see Boscan as suitable for this role, he doesn’t hit enough.

ken – I’m hanging in there pretty well. Yep – we’ve had temps down to th upper 20’s and you can see some snow on the slopes, but it actually went up to 70 the other day. Kind of typical for this time of year, but I had the snow tires put on the other day. We ve had snow earlier than this before.
Maybe they’ll give Gattis a look for temp duty til Mac comes back. Not sure if he’s ready yet, but there has to be a better alternative than Boscan, who I always thought was lifetime Spring Training catcher.

I wouldn’t mind Gattis backup up Ross. He’s better than Boscan. He’ll make his mark, and never get sent back down too I believe. He’s hit everywhere the Braves send him.
Better avg. in 3 minor-league seasons than Simba did. If we don’t get Paulino, I would prefer Gattis to get the opportunity. Keep Boscan away.

My concerns with Gattis are more about his endurance and ability to play a full MLB season (hasn’t played more than 88 games in a year in his pro career yet). But that shouldn’t matter if he just covers Mac’s absence.

I am worried about watching tonight’s show, but the online viewing sites have really improved in the past year or two…you used to have to create an account, log in, and worst of all, download some type of software or viewer from their website that you had no clue if it was full of malware and viruses. Now you just do a Google search for “Watch Walking Dead” or whatever show you want to see and some easy and workable sites pop up (I hope – LOL).
Yeah, this Olt sounds like a good possiblity, wonder what he would cost us?
It would be great if Gattis is ready to catch this year, but that’s a big question as to whether he can handle the job. Hasn’t he been concentrating on Left Field and First Base the past couple of years?

Yepez could be as well, but he’s not Gattis!
Solid numbers, .264/.354/.370/.724 last season, hit over .300 with Seattles AAA affiliate in 2011.
Reached AAA in 2010, has a .282/.379/.394/.773 line at that level. He’ll be 32 next June

Clubs are ready to spend like it’s the Christmas season. The problem with that, however, is that the 2012-2013 free agent class is thought to be among the weakest in history.
Zack Greinke is going to be the most prominent pitchers in the market and he’s going to get really big dollars. But so will players who are regarded as average, or even above-average.

Yankees are expected to make a qualifying offer to Rafael Soriano. Pretty nuts, but the first round is set to be really, really shortened with all of the potential losses of draft picks.
Hamilton, Bourn, Upton, Swisher, Pagan, Ortiz, Peavy, Lohse, Kuroda, Jackson, and Soriano expected to be made qualifying offers by their current teams last I checked.

I think the key for Gattis being a big league player will be if he can play a decent 1st base and corner outfield. I see him being a Eric Hinske or Ryan Doumit type player at best. Solid bench player who can be your 3rd catcher and provide some pop off the bench.

Billy Beane does love flipping vets for prospects. I’m not that big of a fan of CoCo tho cause of his Low OBP. He provides good but not great defense and alot of stolen bases tho. He’d be a nice addition if we only had to offer a couple lower prospects.

My Redskins have the absolute worst defense in NFL history. It’s flat out unbelievable. Can’t be too mad tho. Only lost by 4 to a team that just completely crushed the 49ers.
My Skins would be contenders but its hard to compete when Fred Davis, Brian Orakpo, and Adam Carriker are out for the season and Pierre Garcon and Brandon Meriweather are banged up and not playing.

The schedule doesn’t reflect this yet, but I’m sure it will be fixed. A bunch of folks on FB, including me, got into it last night with a Dish rep over the AMC situation, customer no-service, and their total disregard for their customers. I got a message from someone from Dish late last night telling me to call in Monday for a “special deal”.
And, yes, I take full credit for the return of the Walking Dead on Dish! I am awesome.

But I do have a feeling that were gonna end up with some kind of platoon in LF/3B with Prado/Francisco and a new guy. With Prado playing everyday but position depends on oppo pitcher. Just seems like finding a real fulltime LFer is so hard to do for this organization.

I hope there is a different LH hitter in that platoon than Francisco.

Ron Washington reminds me of Bobby Cox. Great regular season manager….horrible in the post season.

I hope there isn’t a platoon at all in LF. Find a real RH power hitting LFer who can bat cleanup between Heyward and Freeman.
For CF I would prioritize defense. Maybe a combo of a defensive 1st CFer along with someone like Reed Johnson.
I’d be really surprised if Wren add a RH power hitter for LF and a CF who can bat leadoff.
