I am at a lost. I was one that said Tex. deal was good. You go for it when you have a chance to win it. Everybody can see how wrong i was in agreeing on that deal at the time.

Braves need some attitude. Need some leadership in the dugout. You are losing the most leadership in the dug with Chipper and Hinske. That leadership has to be filled. Need some mean players to come in here. Falcons have Weatherspoon. Braves need a player that can rep like Grimes and Rodgers do for the Falcons. Need some heart like they brought to the Falcons more then big names.

Braves need some attitude that Chipper could not give us. Need some i-285 fastball perez attitude in the dug out. Throw at the head and you try to hit me with the ball I take this bat and swing at your head…good times I tell you. Chipper not provide that for us

Braves fans already rep the town with the new bad boys of baseball attitude. The Braves players need to follow our lead and get some toughness. Hell I even seen Cox get thrown out of the stands that sad FRI.. Braves need to get mean.

Giants are playing a team that finished 6 back of the Braves. Both these teams are clowns. Braves were done in by the umps in the 7th to let the 12 for 12 dream be a story for the ws. Just like N.dame getting the call of a no TD last week for the win. It is TV ratings and umps and refs walk the line to the tune of the ratings on tv

the Braves could probably get the Royals to stop laughing and not hang up if they started with Simmons and Teheran/Delgado or if they mentioned Meds or Beachy.

think of what it would have taken for the Braves to trade Heyward just before his first season in Atlanta. Then consider that the Royals have no payroll flexibility and value their young players even more than the average team

DESERT DOGS

LHRP RYAN BUCHTER [1.80 ERA] 1.0 IP, 0 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 0 SO.

SAL:CEDO’s beginning to stir in the batter’s box, but i see they let him on the field as infrequently as possible. His glove might also explain the MIA quality of one NICK AHMED whose BA is impressive.

I’m assuming about 60 people here post on a regular basis. I’m just curious as to IF the South(Not South Florida) really cares about MLB at all? Now I know they like the Braves but let’s just say IF the Braves are not in the League Championship series does anyone besides transplanted people from Northern cities care at all about the post season. It appears Monday-Friday in the Fall is spent talking about Saturday, Saturday is a Holy Day of Obligation and Sunday you get over Saturday and get ready for Monday-Friday all over again. It would be very interesting to see how division series would match up with Miss State-LSU and how World Series(Without Atlanta) matches up with Florida-Georgia. Major League Baseball in the Deep South–exclusive of Atlanta–is a regional cult sport similiar to hockey.

Gattis just keeps hitting wherever they send him. In 7 games in Venezuela, he’s 9-for-27 with 4 doubles, 1 HR, league-leading 8 RBI, .593 slugging and .947 OPS in 7games.

If he stays healthy, gonna be interesting to see the numbers he puts up in Triple-A next season — and even more interesting to see how long he stays there before getting his first shot in big leagues.

I think Evan Gattis is worthy of a good look see this spring, very good numbers accumilated in so little time, he got hurt last year, don’t know what the status was in for just 88 games, but look at his production w/ so little time, yet the kicker; 2011- 88 gms, 22hr(s),322BA,338ab’s-53k’s, 2012- 74gms, 18hr’s,.305BA,272ab’s-43k’s. Love the production w/not so many k’s w/at bats ratio. I think he’s very worthy for consideration considering he’s got a good idea of the strikezone, which quite the no. of k’s that several of our lineup showed striking out over 100 times, to 150 times. I think he battles in the count kinda like what we see’n now in the post season. I hope they’ll put em’ on the 40 man, he, Mejia, & Durango. Gattis could be a diamond in the rough.

Lew

October 20th, 2012
9:13 am

Yeah, he could be a diamond in the rough, but the MLB season is long and he has only played 80 or more games in two minor league seasons – thats half of an MLB season. Not sure we know if he has the stamina to be a full time player in the bigs.

But yeah, the offensive numbers are basically awesome. I’m just concerned that we just lost one offensive force that only played in 100 or so games a year and it certainly hurt us. That being said, maybe he could be that RH Hitting platoon partner for the LF/3B platoon we’ve discussed with Prado and Francisco.
