After reading Gary Collins’ obituary, I looked up Mary Ann Mobley on IMDB to see what she had been in – noticed 8 Love Boat episodes – took a look through the overall cast listing, which is an interesting look through the 2nd and 3rd tier actors/actresses of the ’70’s…
saw this earlier: Jim Caple @jimcaple
In Yankees pressbox and introducing self to writer next to me. ‘Hi, I’m Jim Caple, http://ESPN.com .’ ‘Hi, I’m Gay Talese.’
Talese wrote a great piece on Joe DiMaggio in the mid-60s. I think it was called The Silent Season of a Hero. Great read if you can find it. No surprise he is at a Yankees post season game
VJ–I agree. I would have felt rather sheepish. Your Love Boat post reminded me of years ago, when I was studying in Boston in the mid-90s. I had a class mate that I knew was an older student who had done other things and was coming back to school. Some people I knew were out with her and they were chatting. It turns out that she had been a writer for Love Boat. She was now studying to become a Presbyterian minister and worried that she had messed up a generations’ sense of relationships. Someone asked how she had gotten a job on Love Boat. She said that she and her college boyfriend had moved from Boston out to LA and were looking for work and they found jobs together–her ex, Fred Grandy acted in Love Boat and she wrote for it. She was the ex-Mrs. Gopher.
We have a very good core … Prado, JHey, FF, Kimbrel, Beachy, Meds and even McCann if he can come back is in his prime. I’m not the least bit worried about the team going forward. The luck part of the game hasn’t really gone our way lately, but it’ll change hopefully soon.
Really? Three appearances on Fantasy Island. Interesting. I remember being quite young on a Jack the Ripper episode on Fantasy Island. My siblings and I were watching, while the parents were out. All got scared. My parents came home and saw us frightened, so they turned off the t.v. Horrible, since there was no denouement. Jack the Ripper was loose on Fantasy Island.
On an other note–back-to-back former Braves making appearance. Lowe then Logan. Reverse alphabetical order?
Tyler Kepner @TylerKepner
Atmosphere here sort of feels like Game 1 against the Marlins in the 2003 WS. Lifeless performance by Yanks. Just a blah sort of feeling.

Hello everyone! Just thought I would come on for one post. So give up on Uggla after a couple of seasons. That makes a lot of sense, so everytime some a player has a bad year, or two. Quiclky throw them under the bus. What impatience……..Managers, and General Managers are not that silly. Players have up, and down years. It happens to all, so I say give Uggla time, and see what he can do. Talking about throwing a player under the bus. Players have their years, and not so good ones. Anyone in baseball should know that. I would like to see Uggla for the rest of his contract. Talk after the Giants game. Good luck to the Forty Ninners, and their Fans. It should be one heck of a game. Peace my friends, and”Go!!!!!Braves!!!!!”
If anyone seriously thinks that Dan Uggla will not be traded before next season even starts, I’ve got some stats for you to look over. .262 with RISP. @Josh
I seriously think he will not be traded before then. Want to bet,?
So we are not only going to trade away Uggla and pay enough of his contract to get someone to take him but we are going to throw away another better player too?

@Josh

So we are not only going to trade away Uggla and pay enough of his contract to get someone to take him but we are going to throw away another better player too?
