Robert, Coach, & Shaun are 3 of the most obsessive and self absorbed posters here, I don’t understand why others even engage them, it is a pointless excersize..
October 13th, 20126:22 pm
Yes, it is,certainly where Shaun is concerned….
LOL at Lew!
October 13th, 20126:31 pm
Spare us any talk of Notre Dame being relevant nationally this year.
October 13th, 20126:57 pm
you think Shaun is more obsessive that Robert? Really?
Or is it just that Robert’s obsessions are more in line with your thinking/attitudes?
October 13th, 20126:58 pm
I’m pretty sure that all three of those posters are on here more often under other names
October 13th, 20126:59 pm
Just thinking the same thing Astral!
October 13th, 20127:07 pm
Wonder’n what it must be like on the nats blog right now, I bet there eat’n up the strausberg ordeal big time; shoulda’ woulda’ could’ve , explexitives, etc….
October 13th, 20127:20 pm
Nah,Shaun is an one and only. He wants everybody to know how brilliant he is.
October 13th, 20127:25 pm
Yes, I don’t know hy I said all three. I’m not sure Shaun posts as anybody else, but I sure do think the other two do. I think perhaps Robert is the one who comes on here under a lot of names over time and ends up in condescending arguments all the time, often with Noles
October 13th, 20127:27 pm
THh are all narcissists, that is why they handle disagreement so poorly.
They need to think they are “King of the Lab” so to speak
October 13th, 20127:52 pm
Speaking of obsession, how much more OCD can someone be than to actually pay to sponsor a page on BaseballReference of a retired person just so they can make nasty comments in a spot that others read? That is sick IMO
October 13th, 20128:26 pm
October 13th, 2012
huh? I don’t really know much about this Robert guy, but no, my thinking does not align with his. But thanks anyway for wondering.
October 13th, 20128:27 pm
I think he is the one hung up on Cox…..
I liked Cox.

Jerry Crasnick @jcrasnick
Just realized Sam Holbrook is working this game at 2B. If you feel a need to make an infield fly joke, get it out of the way now.
Buster Olney @Buster_ESPN
Those watching on TV already see this: There are a whole lot of empty seats at Yankee Stadium tonight.
October 13th, 20129:40 pm
Nice hitting by Prince with RISP…

October 13th, 201210:11 pm
After reading Gary Collins’ obituary, I looked up Mary Ann Mobley on IMDB to see what she had been in – noticed 8 Love Boat episodes – took a look through the overall cast listing, which is an interesting look through the 2nd and 3rd tier actors/actresses of the ’70’s…
October 13th, 201210:13 pm
Yankees have left the bases loaded 3 times in 6 innings. What team does that, immediately, remind you of?
October 13th, 201210:14 pm
saw this earlier:
Jim Caple @jimcaple
In Yankees pressbox and introducing self to writer next to me. ‘Hi, I’m Jim Caple, http://ESPN.com .’ ‘Hi, I’m Gay Talese.’
October 13th, 201210:16 pm
Mary Ann Mobley was one of the better looking Miss Americas when that contest kinda meant something.
October 13th, 201210:18 pm
Moe – that is a good one…
October 13th, 201210:19 pm
ken – I saw what you had posted earlier about In-N-Out, long after you had posted…
October 13th, 201210:23 pm
Talese wrote a great piece on Joe DiMaggio in the mid-60s. I think it was called The Silent Season of a Hero. Great read if you can find it. No surprise he is at a Yankees post season game
October 13th, 201210:27 pm
nolie, VJ, ken, my blog buds! I’m here!
Crickets, crickets, crickets …
VJ–I agree. I would have felt rather sheepish. Your Love Boat post reminded me of years ago, when I was studying in Boston in the mid-90s. I had a class mate that I knew was an older student who had done other things and was coming back to school. Some people I knew were out with her and they were chatting. It turns out that she had been a writer for Love Boat. She was now studying to become a Presbyterian minister and worried that she had messed up a generations’ sense of relationships. Someone asked how she had gotten a job on Love Boat. She said that she and her college boyfriend had moved from Boston out to LA and were looking for work and they found jobs together–her ex, Fred Grandy acted in Love Boat and she wrote for it. She was the ex-Mrs. Gopher.

Would you take ARod at third next year if the Yankees picked up all but 8 million of his salary?
We have a very good core … Prado, JHey, FF, Kimbrel, Beachy, Meds and even McCann if he can come back is in his prime. I’m not the least bit worried about the team going forward. The luck part of the game hasn’t really gone our way lately, but it’ll change hopefully soon.
October 13th, 201210:39 pm
Fred had 3 Fantasy Island appearances, while Bernie Koppell had only 2 (but he had more Get Smarts)…
October 13th, 201210:40 pm
And Simmons. Damn we’re pretty loaded y’all. Don’t complain too much now.
October 13th, 201210:45 pm
Really? Three appearances on Fantasy Island. Interesting. I remember being quite young on a Jack the Ripper episode on Fantasy Island. My siblings and I were watching, while the parents were out. All got scared. My parents came home and saw us frightened, so they turned off the t.v. Horrible, since there was no denouement. Jack the Ripper was loose on Fantasy Island.
On an other note–back-to-back former Braves making appearance. Lowe then Logan. Reverse alphabetical order?
October 13th, 201210:47 pm
Mary Ann Mobley was from back in nolie’s day. He or scoots prolly dated her.
Did you see the stat I posted on the last page? Dude, no.
Dayton from Nebraska @BravesAmerica
A-Rod OPS since 2007- 1.067, .965, .933, .847, .823, .783. Five more years under contract. #yikes
While the 1.6mil yr may be a bargain for us, the distraction will be too much. Doubt he’d want to be on the bench. I’m not starting him
October 13th, 201210:48 pm
Hey CTB…you ain’t fell off that mountain yet?
October 13th, 201210:52 pm
Tyler Kepner @TylerKepner
Atmosphere here sort of feels like Game 1 against the Marlins in the 2003 WS. Lifeless performance by Yanks. Just a blah sort of feeling.
October 13th, 201210:59 pm
VJ: I asked cab one time to send me a box of In-N-Out burgers…she said they didn’t travel well. I’ll get out there one day, I hope.
I am in the city tomorrow–meeting a friend for lunch in the West Village. Wondering if I should stay in to catch the 4:00 start in the Bronx. Would love to see the Tigers pick up another game.
October 13th, 201211:01 pm
Jon Morosi @jonmorosi
Eric Chavez pinch hitting for A-Rod. Again.
You gotta go with your starters, no matter what.
October 13th, 201211:11 pm
ken – I still prefer 5 Guys (maybe that’s because I ate there in Virginia long before rolling out beyond the NOVA region), but In-N-Out wins on price…
October 13th, 201211:21 pm
So the A-Rod benching and pinch-hitting. Would these be happening, if his contract were for quarter the amount?
Must grab some dinner.
October 13th, 201211:22 pm
VJ: We have 5 Guys here and I don’t care for them. I have heard so many people say In-N-Out are the best hamburgers they ever eat, I just have a craving for them.
Of course I am partial to The Varsity, but only once every month or two.

Valverde always seems to struggle when I watch the Tigers. Had a subpar season this year. Man. He threw a meatball to Raul
October 13th, 201211:37 pm
We’re watching something else, see Tex walked on GameDay, and I flip over just as the ball goes over the wall…
Rah-ool does it again!
October 13th, 201211:40 pm
Right now they might take EOF for Verlander…
October 13th, 201211:42 pm
That was clutch… of course, some would have us believe that there’s no such thing
Leyland … dude, I know Valverde is your closer and all but sometimes it’s better to pull the plug early than to be hard headed and stick with him “till death do you part”

I can’t believe Tex didn’t bunt down the 3rd base line…is his ego that big?
The 50 year old Raul is the man and we could have had him, I’m sure.

17 million people in metro NYC and they can’t sell out an ALCS game……..if that was Atlanta we would be tarred and feathered by the unabashed media…….
October 14th, 201212:49 am
Go Tigers…………hate to see Jeter hurt though……met him in Clearwater once………he was a geniune nice guy…….
October 14th, 201212:53 am
Jeter got hurt. Not a Yankees fan but, that’s sad to see. And to hear from my friends who thought he was playing around by not popping right back up after the play was sad.
Tigers look like they’ll win this one. Valverde won’t be as big of a goat.
October 14th, 20121:04 am
Grats to the Tigers. Later folks, Peace.
October 14th, 20121:10 am
Why is it sadder if Jeter gets hurt than anyone else? And you are surprised that people are put off by his deification by the media?…
October 14th, 20121:17 am
Ankle fracture, Jeter won’t be playing another game this year
October 14th, 20121:18 am
Not sadder if he gets hurt, but no one should be gleeful that he did get hurt. Saw and heard too much of that from my personal friend circle. I don’t care if he’s not liked, but no one should be happy about it.
October 14th, 20121:26 am
Glad to see Detroit win the game though didn’t enjoy seeing Jeter’s injury.
October 14th, 20121:36 am
Not much going on here tonight. When you ban/warn/runoff so many this is what you get. The same old same old over and over.
October 14th, 20121:39 am
No one should be happy, but sometimes these things are brought on by the media’s obsession with glorifying people who are happy to be glorified…
October 14th, 20121:43 am
When you ban/warn/runoff so many this is what you get.
Are you paid to be a moronic idiot? Name people who have been run off and banned, you whining little baby. Your love of the Lentzian fools shows that you are nothing but a brainless idiot who is devoid of moral character and common sense and a true affection for the team you fraudulently claim to root for…
No offense intended, if you are actually quasi-intelligent and are being sarcastic and humorous…

And, as much fun as it is to talk to someone who only understands one syllable words, I must be off for the evening…
October 14th, 20121:46 am
Enjoy playing by yourself as I go off to enjoy the second half of last night’s Boss (among other things)…

October 14th, 20123:33 am
This article is way too in-depth and well written to have left out one of the biggest issues of the season – that Dan Uggla is being paid $13 million to hit barely above the Mendoza line. If anyone seriously thinks that Dan Uggla will not be traded before next season even starts, I’ve got some stats for you to look over. .262 with RISP. .194 in late & close situations. .187 for home games.
October 14th, 20123:47 am
Yes, Josh, because General Managers all over the major leagues are salivating to latch on to him & his stats & his $13 million dollar, 3 more years, contract. Great idea!
October 14th, 20124:01 am
And I agree with TheOnlyBravesFan – I’d take Cody Ross above Josh Willingham. Remember that we’re having issues with producing hits with RISP. Ross was .319 with RISP in 2012. Willingham was .287. Which isn’t terrible. But it’s not .319. And Ross is 2 years younger.
October 14th, 20124:05 am
Fair enough, but we could always try to sweeten the deal with someone better alongside him and just take a couple garbage players off someone’s hands. Or trade him to the AL as a potential DH – who knows, he might perform better in that scenario. Stranger things have happened.
All I’m saying is he’s a HUGE problem, and I wish the article would have touched on that and what we might be able to do about it.
October 14th, 20125:08 am
Hello everyone! Just thought I would come on for one post. So give up on Uggla after a couple of seasons. That makes a lot of sense, so everytime some a player has a bad year, or two. Quiclky throw them under the bus. What impatience……..Managers, and General Managers are not that silly. Players have up, and down years. It happens to all, so I say give Uggla time, and see what he can do. Talking about throwing a player under the bus. Players have their years, and not so good ones. Anyone in baseball should know that. I would like to see Uggla for the rest of his contract. Talk after the Giants game. Good luck to the Forty Ninners, and their Fans. It should be one heck of a game. Peace my friends, and”Go!!!!!Braves!!!!!”
October 14th, 20125:36 am
If anyone seriously thinks that Dan Uggla will not be traded before next season even starts, I’ve got some stats for you to look over. .262 with RISP. @Josh
I seriously think he will not be traded before then. Want to bet,?
October 14th, 20125:39 am
So we are not only going to trade away Uggla and pay enough of his contract to get someone to take him but we are going to throw away another better player too?
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
