3-0 Nationals. It would be something if they even get to the World Series after shutting Strasburg down. That’s a big “f u” to the rest of the National League. We can still get to the WS without our Ace.

And if they do what I think they will and lock up Laroche and trade Morse – that would put them in great position to go get Michael Bourn for CF. That’d be a balanced lineup…..

CF Bourn
LF Werth
RF Harper
3B Zimmerman
1B LaRoche
SS Desmond
2B Espinosa
C Ramos/Suzuki

Good lineup and a great defensive unit. With that 1-12 in the pitching staff? Stacked….

I like the way they’ve televised the first round of the playoffs this year. Has a March Madness feel to it with games all day. TBS still needs to greatly improve the quality of the announcers though.

Im still on the go young train after talking to some royals fans it looks like myers is untouchable which makes sense but will need to make some kind of move as they have a log jam in the outfield. I still think olt needs to be our main target of the off season. Leave prado in left for now but dont give him 10 mill a year like the great dob wants. I love prado more than anyone but that is to much cash for someone we cant put at his best spot. It will be hard to find that top notch leadoff great d center fielder. I like fowler, Davis, Rivera,Crisp. Would love to get billy Hamilton from the reds and put him in center lol but im sure the reds are not letting him go. Stubbs would not be a bad fit but not as a leadoff hitter as he makes uggla look like a contact hitter. We could go power in center with stubbs, young, Hunter or bj upton and look for a leadoff hitter in left. This is already one of the best off seasons in my lifetime because if we make no moves what so ever we would still be a very good team not a playoff team but very good.

Hudson one year at 9 mill or peavy 3 years at 12 per? He has always wanted to be a brave as he is from bama. He is one of my favorite players as is hudson i just think he brings a little more to the table now as he is a power strike out pitcher.

If the Nats advance, every team left in the playoffs will have had an ace at the front of their rotation.

Giants- Cain
Nats- Strasburg (or Gio)
Yankees- Sabathia
Tigers- Verlander

The teams that got knocked out-

Braves- Medlen
Orioles- ??? Miguel Gonzales? Chen? Hammel?
Cardinals- Lohse (not really an ace)
A’s- McCarthy (mid #2)
Reds- Cueto (yea, he’s an ace)
Rangers- Darvish (1st year)

Matheny has been taking lessons from Fredi Gonzalez on his pitching decisions. Left Wainwright in there so long now they will never come back. 6-0 now, guess he had no other pitchers. That’s a “Fredi Move” like he did with Hudson a couple times this year. These younger managers have a bad habit of doing that. Somebody like Davey Johnson would never do that.

I’ve never seen so many want options to be declined(mind you, within three days after the World Series) so it can create holes, uncertainty and make Frank Wren have to potentially use additional assets to fill those holes, or go through free agency – which doesn’t always mean you get the player you want.

McCann, Hudson and Maholm are coming back for 2013, imo. And so is Uggla….for good measure.

Good point Braveheart had forgotten about that in his defense we sucked then but you are right. As far as prado goes i was talking about all around his best spot is second and there is no question about that. Remember last year we watched how him being off a little makes him worthless. A power hitter will at least run into one now and then ie uggla with 19 bombs. Prado to be worth playing has to hit 310 because he does not walk hit for much power or have top end speed although he did have a nice year in steals this year.

It’s a shame certain ones kept the Braves from being in this game rather than St. Louis. They would have bombed Gonzalez like they did during the regular season. Braves should have been playing for the division title not the wildcard, but too many people seemed to be OK with that. You settle for lesser, that’s what you usually end up with. Don’t expect any better next year, could be even worse.

In 2012, Uggla had a .430 avg. when he pulls the ball, .290 when he hits up the middle, and .137 when he goes to right. His career stats follow this trend.

My grandfather was a big Cardinals fan. My dad was a big Yankees fan. In 1996, I sat and watched Game 7 of the LCS with my grandfather and rubbed it in.

I then avoided my dad for about a week after the WS ended.

My dad did not live to see another WS. My grandfather, as most grandfathers do, died a handful of years later.

As much pain as the Cards and Yankees have caused the Braves since 1996, I cannot hate these teams. I admire them out of respect for my father and grandfather.

That said, I have had enough of the Cardinals for a while. We helped them win the division in 2006, setting them up for a WS championship. Then, we went el foldo last year, letting them grab the WC and lo and behold, win another championship.

And of course, this year. And, it’s not just the loss, it’s the whole sordid Holbrook affair.

I’ve had enough of St. Louis for awhile.

I’ve liked the Tigers since the 1984 WS. The first WS I ever watched. Still remember Gibson’s game 5 homer (an afternoon WS game – there has only been once since – Game 5 of the 1987 WS IIRC), watching with my dad.

Go Tigers. Go Nats.

This is kind of funny in a way. Even though I wanted to see the Gnats win it to keep the Cards out of it again, I like what is happening. This could turn out making Bud Selig look rather foolish. If the Cards beat SF, and they just might do it, that means the team with the worst record of all the playoff teams in the NL will be in the WS. SL. the 2nd wildcard team, was 88-75 (.543) this year and are where they are due to the silly “infield fly rule” partly. The Braves played poor defense but may have come back except for that. Here’s hoping a similar play pops up somewhere along the line in the NL or AL playoffs, or perhaps the WS. Would like to see how it will be called if it’s the Yankees at bat when it happens!
