This is why when the Braves were celebrating with the champagne the day the clinched a playoff spot I was bitting my nails. One game, that’s all you got.
Ok, so it was Fredi’s dumb move. He called the safety squeeze, which obviously Freddy missed, since he never broke. Bad management, not rookie mistake.
After rewatching that Simmons bunt, what I don’t understand is that Simmons was initially inside the line. Why the hell would he move outside of that line?
A 40 year old HOF’er spits it out, costing 3 runs; then Brain-Dead Fredi calls for a safety squeeze with one out, and the pitcher on deck. Fredi is the dumbest manager in history. He was an IDIOT during the regular season. Now he’s proved it in the post season. What a dumb, dumb, dumb call.
Fredi will do whatever to piss things away. The man is a joke. Typical Fredi.
When ilook at that play, Ithink Simmons is a complete IDIOT for what he did. Clearly he was in the grass and it looked as if he tried to get an interferrence! I still cant understand why a safety squeeze inthat situation. What would the Braves be if they actually had a good manager? Cox cost us at leat 2 more championships and now Gonzalez with a dumb ass call for a safet squeeze with a slow runner on third and the pitcher due up next!
I am in agreement with an earlier poster — it’s hard to stay and participate with such mean-spirited comments. How about focusing on the baseball and not on personal jabs at personnel? We have a game to win
Not a good spot for a safety squeeze. Overmanaging by Fredi. Bad baserunning by Simmons who clearly moved onto grass for the throw. And while, it was a correct call by the umpire, I have always hated that rule.
They just said on tv that Fredi admited ordering a safety squeeze there. Is he a moron or just Cox clone, who used to call this type of retard play on the playoffs? Good grief.
Safety squeeze with pitcher up next is stupid. Fredi the —-up did it again. If it was a suicide and Simmons ran correctly the run would have scored easily.
Well I’ve been tough on Fredi too, but a fair question: If the safety squeeze is executed properly, do the Braves score there? Was the bunt good enough? I’m not sure the Cards don’t try to go home on that if Freeman is running.
Ease up on Gonzalez. Earlier we all praised his skills for putting Ross in over McCann.
If the call had worked, we would be singing his praises.
…But it didn’t.
Still more baseball to play
