Let’s be honest, though, if the Braves don’t commit those errors they win this game.
6 Finger 2 tooth Braves Fan
AHM BARRASSED TA B A BRAVES FAN.
Why did we start Conrad at 3rd tonight? I didn’t even know he still played for us!
Well, the Chipper era is over. Congrats for a great career !! And congrats to the Cardinals. Hard to compete against a great team like the Cardinals, your own terrible defense, and horrible calls by the umpires. But we all knew anything could happen in a 1 game playoff. I don’t like it. Cards deserved the win, but didn’t deserve to be there.
Phillies fan? Washington I can see…but Philly?
October 5th, 2012
I will not spend another dime on major league baseball until they fire the owner-by-proxy commissioner. All of Selig’s tenure has included decisions that are all about the money for the owners including ignoring steroids until his hand was forced. This one game play-in when they didn’t even have a tie is not baseball, it is simply a dice roll. And I have posted this ever since I heard the announcement of this farce so it has nothing to do with the outcome of this particular game.
FIRE BUD SELIG
AGREED BTW JOE SIMPSON is knocking ATLANTA fans. I used to like him, now he should just SHUT UP
I’m gonna be sick all winter. 1 game! 1 game! And everything that could go wrong did.
Thanks Ross, Freeman, Medlen for great effort tonight..and J-hey.
Third place team advances.
Cardinals organization is everything the Braves aren’t.
I will NEVER allow myself to head Joe Simpson’s voice again. What a wank.
Liberty Media and Frank Wren are the reason the Braves aren’t good enough. The players did what they could.
I liked it better when Ted ran TBS and the Braves. Joe Simpson can go to hell.
October 5th, 20128:42 pm
I am not at all embarrassed about the fans throwing sh-t on the field, though. When fans in Cleveland and Philly do it they are called “passionate”. When ATL fans don’t, they are called indifferent and fair-weather. F that. ATL fans do care. Big props to the crowd.
Well…that sucked. 90+ wins for nothing. Thank you Chipper. And good night all…see you next year.
No Flag Since Lemke
Holbrook should thank God he’s in Atlanta. In certain cites he doesn’t make it out of the parking lot.
October 5th, 20128:43 pm
This game turned on what was really a 3 run error by Chipper. Saddly, I’ll always think of that play when I think of his last game. I just hope he doesn’t make excuses. This loss is more on him than any blown call.
Larry gets hit but no big wins.
Bye Bourn. Bye Chipper. Bye Uggla (i hope). Bye Fredi (i hope).
Wainwright’s words became true … the Cards do indeed celebrate after beating the Braves
Speaking of leaving a bad taste………………..
Wow…way to show some class hayseeds. Showering the field with debris. Worse than soccer hooligans. The Cards were a class act the whole way….WORLD CHAMPIONS!
I’ve got a bad feeling about this weekend…
Will the Dawgs and Falcons lose as well?
Game Protested: Waah, My Chipper hurts…
God, I miss you
That was 1 great infield fly…. why weren’t the balls that the Cards hit one? I’m effing sick.
And so starts another lost weekend for Atlanta. Georgia will choke tomorrow in Columbia. Something will happen to the Falcons that will change their season. This city is f’n cursed. What did we do?
I dropped my fried twinkie
I have not paid to go to a MLB baseball game since the Strike but I have seen maybe 10 games live since that time. I will now not take free tickets to a game after that crap. I usually listen on the radio when i am in the car but that is over too. Will not watch much MLB baseball on TV unless there is NOTHING on TV.
Good riddance boys, you deserve to lose when you play like complete crap. Where were those hits when bases were loaded? This team no matter the name on the back of the jersey is just set up to fail. It’s been that way since the beginning of time, so why change now? I don’t have it in me any longer to be a fan of this team, fans deserve more from the teams they spend money on and support.
No, it’s not the umps fault, but that was still an alltime horrible call….
On to the Georgia collapse tomorrow night! Lol
I have no teams other than Mercer that can rise to any ocassion. I’ll take Mercer!
October 5th, 20128:44 pm
YOU HAVE TO BE HAPPY 4 ALL CARDS FANS
How ironic it is that MLB’s first one-game wildcard playoff is potentially decided by an umpiring call that was both atrocious and back-breaking for the Braves. I didn’t like the idea of this stupid format coming in and I will NEVER be a fan of it.
As for the Braves, they dug themselves a hole they couldn’t climb out of with all those errors. Just an ugly, sad way to see yet another season end. Seriously, those who believe in sports curses have to rank Atlanta at or near the top of the list the past two decades.
WORTHLESS DAN ends the embarrassment. The Braves…another CHOKE effort. Piss down your leg, Atlanta. Nice job. Very professional. But then, this team showed its choke mentality in 2011.
Sad, pathetic effort. Nice final game, Chipper. Great ending. Total failure tonight. It will be fun to remember this one, won’t it, Chipper?
BUT FREDI WILL BE PROUD TOMORROW, THOUGH.
MLB umpire Holbrook is a joke. Torre and Joe G. will decide that the call was right. MLB has no balls either.
We might have still lost the game, but it sure hurts that the umps make such a terrible call on such an important game.
New baseball rule: OUTFIELD FLY RULE. If you think you want to help an infielder that can’t seem to find the ball hit into the outfield, give him a break and call it an out.
Only losers complain about the umpiring. W/o the 3 ERRORS the umpiring wouldn’t have mattered.
Braves = Choke.
October 5th, 20128:45 pm
That was SAD. all around SAD.
Protest the World Series
Do not watch the playoffs and the World Series. We can’t get our Braves back in the playoffs, but we can deprive MLB of money.
Indeed, Holliday said he thought he heard the third baseman call him off. But the outfield umpire signaled the out about the same time the third baseman gave up on the play. So, it is possible that Holliday heard the umpire. Either way, a very wrong call.
If Joe Simpson said Braves fans should be ashamed … Show me the tape … But if he did, fire his ass.
See ya Hooters Jones. Time to get some real leaders in here.
Did anyone really expect something different..2001 until present management is gone. Can’t wait to hear Wren and etc brag on a great year.
And Obama’s add on TV during game a damn lie.
October 5th, 20128:46 pm
Happy trails, Chipper. See you in Cooperstown in 5 years. You have more class in your little finger, than the scum that littered the field with garbage tonite! MERCY
DIS PLACE STINKS. HEY SIS CUM HERE WE GOT SUM LUVIN TA DOO!
Dude, stop trolling with my username. I hope you suffer a crippling car injury and become a quadriplegic.
Joe Simpson is an embarrassment. He and Chip Carey have been carrying the water for this pathetic ownership group for several years now. I wish he would go back to Seattle.
Don’t like the format. No way should any team play 162 and be gone after 1. Braves shot themselves three times in the foot and the ump made a horrible call. At least in seattle those guys were in over their head but these are suppose to be the best umps left. Protect your umps mlb. Little league has it
I have some choice names I’d like to call the Cardinals, but my IP would be banned for life.
October 5th, 20128:47 pm
Welp, all… no, I really don’t know what to say. This was a terrible game. A clean game and we’re playing on Sunday. Now we have to wait for Selig’s decision… meh…
At any rate, to the faithful regulars, I’ll be in touch on-and-off.
To the fairweathers that are saying “they’re done with” the team (even though they’ll be back), don’t miss your exit onto 85 north.
Don’t like the format. No way should any team play 162 and be gone after 1. Braves shot themselves three times in the foot and the ump made a horrible call. At least in sea rttle those guys were in over their head but these are suppose to be the best umps left. Protect your umps mlb. Little league has it, get replay
Bruce Poco Horner
Worst call I’ve ever seen………but who hasn’t seen this before, another team celebrating a big win on an Atl home field. Can’t imagine trying to sell tickets next year. “Hey we make the playoffs and lose immediately”
I knew something like that would happen. DAMN BUD and his one game thing. The BRAVES ARE THE WC TEAM.
October 5th, 20128:48 pm
Well, the call was ridiculous, but the Braves left a million men on base, as usual.
I hate it but this loss is on Chipper more than anything or anybody else. His 3 run error was the turning point. I hate it but I’ll always mark the end of his career by that play.
Brave New World
At least we know where the replacement refs from the NFL landed – ump team for NL Wild Card game.
Hope you all are embarassed by that pathetic display of poor sportsmanship in front of the entire nation. The MLB should put a hefty fine the Braves for not clamping down with security.
This is the disgrace for baseball.
In-field fly ball on the shallow left????
October 5th, 20128:49 pm
usnavyvolfan, I am right there with you.
Lil' Barry Bailout (Unexpectedly Revised Downward)
I keep trying to program my DVR to record “The Biggest Loser” but it keeps showing me the Braves game…
Trey: Your a lot of things, I’m sure. But tonight you are the DH!
October 5th, 20128:50 pm
usnavy, in fact, I would have loved to be at that game, to be a part of the fans throwing garbage on the field. I would have aimed for the umpires.
Protest will never be upheld.
October 5th, 20128:51 pm
Fans had every right to litter the field after that terrible call! No embarrsment here for sticking up for your team folks! Still a Braves fan unlike some of you sellouts!
Why did Conrad play 3rd for the Braves tonight? I didn’t even know he was still on the team!
This was an embarrassing way to end a great season. So long Chipper and Michael Bourn – we wish you well.
WHEN MY PHILLIES SIGN EITHER BOURN OR HAMILTON BRING BACK MADSON FOR 8TH INNING IT WILL BE 2008 ALL OVER AGAIN GO PHILLIES
GOD IT FEELS GOOD SAYING THAT, I HATE THE BRAVES AND THERE FANS SO MUCH THEY ARE SICKNING SAD BUT TRUE!!!!!!!!
JIM BOWDEN @JimBowdenESPNxm
MLB has already denied protest
As Jim Powell said on radio. It was denied before the game re-started.
A bad call didn’t make the Braves lose this game.
1 for 8 with RISP and 3 errors did it…
well, mr selig, that new gimmick of yours sure went well.
I’ll be rooting for Nationals to beat Cardinals.
smallmouth, what the hell are you talking about?
Did the call suck? Yup.
Could things have been different maybe? Possibly.
But the bottom line is that Chipper, Simmons and Uggla FAILED mersirably today defensively. Those guys make 3 simple plays (simple for guys who make them everyday – and since we had to hear all year how this was the “best” defensive team, I’m cutting them ZERO slack)….. The Braves win this game 3-2 with the place errupting as Kimbrel closes it out.
So enough about the umpires. The umpires didn’t cost the Braves this game.
The Braves players did.
The NATIONALS ERA in the NL East has begun, boys n girls!!!
here’s an idea for next year Braves, now that you know you can get eliminated in the Sudden Death Game by making just a few stupid mental errors and an umpires judgment call …. maybe you’ll play a little harder for the Division next year and you don’t have to go through this game again.
October 5th, 20128:52 pm
If Wren is serious about winning, he’ll bring in a championship manager. We have had a sense of inivitable loss since the late 1990s. We need to move away from the Bobby Cox era and bring in a manager who has won multiple titles at the major league level.
Can we be surprised the braves wet the bed in an elimination game? Add another stain to the mattress.
Lay down a die……
It’s what we do. But i’ll keep trying to cheer em on.
Maybe one day we’ll break through.
October 5th, 20128:53 pm
I really hate to see Chipper Jones go out this way…Chipper, the Braves wouldn’t be at this point without you.
I’m sick of the Cardinals and Wainwright…will be pulling very hard for the Nationals.
If Bourne is worth $20MM a year, let someone else pay it.
The call didn’t matter. Braves left 12 on base and handed the cards 5 runs. They have nobody but themselves to blame. Epic choke job…same as always
But right now Trey you’ll just have to drink yourself silly.
Damn phone typing, sure would be nice if the ajc helped me out to figure out why I can’t type from the home computer. Can’t even ask the customer service people….. oh well
Braves 12 hits Cards 6 and you lose is a joke. Please we have good young players so trade Uggla and,McCann and say no to Bourn .

Let this fool have it tomorrow.
October 5th, 20128:54 pm
Ross and Freeman did all they could….pressure didn’t touch em.
The others? Pathetic…..
The Blogger Formerly Known as Billy
Yeah, the errors were the real story…..but having BMAC coming up with bases load with one out is something none of us would dread…..BS call……we will never know what would of happened and that is a shame.
Yet another chapter in the Braves ignominious post season history book.
October 5th, 20128:55 pm
Brave New World, I’m not a drinker. I think the one using my name may be a little bit up on the booze, though.
October 5th, 20128:56 pm
“Hope you all are embarassed by that pathetic display of poor sportsmanship in front of the entire nation.”
Embarrassed? Proud of Braves fans for maybe the first time ever.
ONly losers come on another team’s site and talk s**t when their team has NEVER, EVER, EVER won a championship (and was so broke that they were OWNED by MLB at one time).
St Louis Cardinals – MLB’s best illegitimate playoff team 2 years running.
The Cardinals did not win this game – The Braves (with help from umps) lost it. Nonetheless, congratulations to the Cards.
Baseball has basically been ruined over the last 18-whatever years since the strike. Wild-card teams, interleague play, steroids, awful national coverage, over-exposure of Yankees and Boston. When a team like the 2011 and 2012 Cardinals are rewarded for having the 4th and 5th best records in their league over the course of season. A great, unique game ruined for the dollar.
A loss by UGA could turn this weekend around for me, though!
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
