That should be reversed. Ridiculous. Good for the Braves fans. Proud for showing emotion for that garbage. Bet the Braves players are proud of the fans.
I don’t think its embarrasing at all. It’s time the Braves fans got pissed. The umps and Chipper have lost this game for us. Terrible call; talk about getting paid off. Something stinks!
The Braves won’t get satisfaction, but the rule on the infield fly rule requires an immediate call, and since the third base umpire did not make the out call until after the ball landed on the grass in left field, then there is a legitimate basis for a protest. The earliest call requirement is essential to the rule itself as it allows the base runners to return to their original bases.
This game may be under protest. In my view, regardless of the chances, Fredi should protest the game.

Keep throwing stuff Braves fans! The umps screwed us big time! That was a terrible call and they get screwed! Gonzalex should have beenkicked out of that game. I would still lbe on he field yelling!
According to the rules, the Infield Fly is supposed to be called early enough to allow runners to run after the ball is caught (and is supposed to be an easily caught ball for the infielder)
Went to my first Braves game in 1954 in Connie Mack Stadium in Philly; just saw the worst call ever in my 58 years of watching baseball. That call must be made immediately per the Rule, not after SS abandons the play.
Gotta play this one under protest. These officials never do anything but say I’m sorry after they screw entire cities. I really hope one of those fans follow that idiot home.
How come when Yankee, Mets, and Philly fans throw stuff on the field they are called passionate but when Braves fans do it they call it no class. It’s good to see Brave fans show some fire when clearly that was a bad call.
It’s called an ERROR, not an infield fly rule. Can everybody in the world see the wrong call was made except those cheatin umps?? Gozalez put the game under protest. I’ll be damn.
Ricky Mast @RickyMast
Right after the call, the Cardinals fan sitting in front of me turned around and said “There’s no way they just called that an infield fly.
Crew chief Jeff Kellogg was advised that Braves manager, Fredi Gonzalez, has put the game under protest. This will be very interesting because of the very tight schedule of postseason this year. I guess the game could be picked back up at this point tomorrow.
Fredi’s logic is that the failure to signal the infield fly out before the ball hit the ground is the justification for the protest, and for that reason, it might succeed.
If there was ever an example of the stupidity of a one-game playoff to determine who gets into the division series, this game is that. I hated it when it was announced at the end of last year. I hated it as the concept gathered momentum. I hated it when it was officially implemented. I hated it when Atlanta was up 2-0. I hate it now.
This is the very first Wildcard game in MLB’s history. And it has been an absolute farce.
I’m disgusted by the effort of the team I watch 162 times a year. But I have enough objectivity that I can see that this concept–and this game–has been an unmitigated disaster.
This infield fly rule call makes up for the timeout called after Ross had struck out, which gave him a 4th strike and allowed him to hit that 2 run homer.
The Braves will keep on playing. If they lose, and in the remote chance the protest is upheld, they would resume the game with the bases loaded and 1 out, 6-3 in the bottom of the eighth.

It is a misapplication of the rule by the umpire, it should be protested. Good call Fredi. But why can’t the umpire’s just overturn it and get it right. Do the other 5 and especially the crew chief think the infield rule was applied correctly? What a joke.
