Trying to keep the faith but it’s getting very hard to stay positive. Need to stop the bleeding and hope for a miracle. Maybe not
Atlanta Choke Braves
I’m glad Bobby Cox is in the stands. Now he knows what it’s like to be an outside observer of this pitiful franchise.
CHOKE. The annual choke by the Braves has happened again.
NICE play Johnny!
This game is just not in the “Cards.” See ya.
Son of a…
Gotta tip your hat, right FreddiG?
How bad is this team tonight?
Enter your comments here
The Cardinals are the best fundamentally sound team in MLB
n8 hell I’m be here since 66..
The embarrassment continues….
game set match..unreal..this team will never win until they spend some money..watch the nats take the cards apart next week..
Braves are getting schooled. Talk to each other
Another great play….lol
Go get em, boys!
@jeff , fredi is that stupid .you have not been watching the way he has managed this year,
That was weird…
Lil' Barry Bailout

Wow…very infielder gonna make an error tonight?
We Will Get Fooled Again
I think they’re trying now to see just how hard they can choke.
I can’t watch this game anymore.
Losing cleanly is one thing; losing playing such sloppy ball is another.
Chuck from Waycross
is this a bad news bears movie???
WHY THE FAQ DO YOU BRING IN DURBIN WHEN YOU NEED TO HOLD THEM DOWN TO A 2 RUN LEAD? HELL I WOULD BRING KIMBREL IN THAT SITUATION EVEN. THAT IS SOMETHING WE CAN LET HAPPEN WHERE WE GO DOWN BY MORE THAN 2 RUNS. WHY BRING UR WORST RELIVER? IS FREID GOING TO USE THESE GUYS WHEN W ARE LEADING? THIS IS THE PLAYOFFS. WHAT THE FAQ IS HE DOING? WHY BRING IN DURBIN? THIS IS THE PLAYOFFS NOT SPRING TRAINING. W T F!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BravesFan79 He did do his job he got the ground ball Simmons just didn’t make the play.
The Cards are nickelin and dimein us to death. However the Braves are throwing bills like they at Magic City or somethin.
The World Champion Cardinals showed up today, and so did the Braves Class D league team.
F U FREDDI GONZ…. shouldnt of had Simmons bunting, should of pitch hit for Medlen after it, and should of had a strikeout pitcher to take care of the 2nd out this inning.
Best 90 million Liberty ever spent, huh guys?
RBI bunt single with runner at second. Freddy Freeman needed to field that one, but the bunt was about perfectly placed. Nothing else Venters could have done on the play.
Well, season looks over now, folks! The winter of my baseball heart’s discontent is starting to set in!
I think Hank Jr. said it best –
Fans ask me,
Braves why do you shrink?
Why do you all choke?
Why must you fold when the games mean the most?
So when the fans ask me
How did we get in this condition,
I say, “Hey, c’mon, we’re just carryin on
An old Franchise Tradition!”
curses, witches, charms, karma, whatever. Total BS. They don’t win championships simply because they are not good enough, dickheads.
pretty pathetic effort tonight in front of the home crowd. 1 and done.
Pathetic…another long winter…
Your BRAIN DEAD BRAVES, ladies and gentlemen. The joke continues.
For us old codgers this is a horrible flashback to ‘91, ‘92, ‘93 etc. Critical play after critical play not made. In some third world countries Medlin would allowed to line up his infield against a wall with cigarettes and a blindfolds.
last time I’ll take larry wachs’ opinion about anything
Just when you thought Atlanta’s pro teams could not find a way to make their history any worse, I give you the first-ever MLB wild card game…..at home…..with the second half’s best pitcher….and hall of fame third baseman making a costly error that changes the game.
four months until the Falcons try to top it in the Falcons first home NFC championship game at the Dome.
yeah N8, i feel ya…
October 5th, 20127:15 pm
No matter the format, we get screwed.
Come back offense. Please!
and it continues. to think we started with heywards great defensive play. just crumbled into this crap. at least we don’t have to watch this happen over best of 5 games.
only players played well are ross/medlen/freeman, bourn ok. all others have sucked/choked
Train Wreck Bystander
That was one back-breaker of a half-inning…
you guys have fun im out
9 outs left
6 runs on 4 hits…just wow.
Awwww……atleast I have the memories of ‘91 &’92
Keep hope alive, this could turn into a Sid Bream finish
Also….before I go…..you got to wonder how much Freddy’s anxiousness rubbed off on this team today. They are played without any confidence or execution. What a shame that Chipper’s career has to end this way. Wishing for a big comeback……….
The pitching staff deserves better.
making wild card was braves season~what a joke wc.
It can be done. We can score at least 4 and hold them from scoring the rest of the game. How about a team meeting in the tunnels with a gut check and then go out and take care of business?
Guarantee you that we will hear how this is a 94 win team and thus no need to make any trades or signings. Heard the same thing last year.
Long time brave fan
Finally, after 47 years, I’m done with the Braves. I hate it that my memories of Chipper will always focus on that ridiculous throw he made. Too many promises, not enough delivery.

I am in agreement with an earlier poster — it’s hard to stay and participate with such mean-spirited comments.
Then beat it!
It will be interesting how the BRAVES explain this debacle! I am so embarrassed! The stadium was electric and ready cheer. Everyoe if they had any senseat all, they would get up and leave now and avoid the traffic.
Disappointing, always thought they mentally couldn’t handle playoff stress. Still very young team. Always next year.
Didn't Like My Name But I got Through Anyway
Well this is uggly, but what else can you do? Not gonna turn it off now. Let’s go Braves…
Bye Chipper. If you had left last year, we might have been able to bring in a couple of major league hitters.
Never seen more phsyical and mental errors by a single team in one game. Never.
October 5th, 20127:17 pm
Nothing ever changes with the Braves. Players come and go, but the end result is always the same. I’m so damn tired of investing 6 months a year into this team just to be disappointed every time.
What a game to pick to play like this.Hate to see it end this way, but most of us saw it coming. Bud Selig, I hate what you have done to baseball. If St, Louis goes on to win the WS, baseball will have officially become a farce for the benefit that that1 percent we’re always hearing about, including that goofy dude that owners put in charge of this great game. Goodbye Chipper. You have been a pleasure to watch. DOB and Carroll, thanks for another excellent year of work.
Your only runs come from a back up catcher. The rest of them should be flogged.
Brave4life-1995 All over again
season was great. This is just an awful ending. reminfs me of the SF Giants playoff series.
Uggs… ugh, ugh, ugh…St Louis has fixed this game all right.. It’s over for 2012
Braves fans.. The fat lady sings.
Wow. Just… wow.
Sorry Dave, but this “feels” like every Braves post-season since 1995. Another Braves Choke.
Hammer the Homer
after hearing that guy sing……………………….oh this game is so awful I am sick
DawgNole — I said it was hard, not impossible
October 5th, 20127:18 pm
Tired of all the people blaming the format. The Braves would figure out how to blow it if it were 7 games! Get real you homers!
This is absolutely unacceptable managing. After last year’s meltdown and mismanagement of the bullpen I seriously question Fredi’s competence.
This is exactly why I hate the 1-game playoff. Anything could happen.
This is not like the Braves. Given a 3 or 5 game series, they probably come back and win.
Bud Selig is an idiot.
this is like being terminally ill in hospice care or in hospital, knowing you will die. you just sit and wait till you take your last breath. That is what the feeling is like watching these last 3 innings down by 4 runs
This one game play off thing sucks large…
Were a Freeman error away from the cycle.
Wow! The Braves are terrible. How did they win 90-something games? Clearly a team made up of pansies. Everyone more worried about Chipper’s final games…like it’s a 5 year old’s birthday party…instead of focusing on playoffs. Don’t let the door hit your ssa on the way out Chipper…thanks for nothing, ya bum.
For those who use Twitter…. Brooks Conrad is trending, how sad is that.
“F U FREDDI GONZ…. shouldnt of had Simmons bunting, should of pitch hit for Medlen after it, and should of had a strikeout pitcher to take care of the 2nd out this inning.”
Really, after all that has gone wrong, you still bitch about Simmons bunting? Get over it, ya whiny little twit, it can’t be changed.
this is embarrassing!…it’a shame be a fan of you braves.
“Still very young team. Always next year.”
Remember, the Cards are the World Champions for a reason..
not a pitching coach
October 5th, 20127:19 pm
It’s the ghost of Brooks Conrad.
Come back and win Braves.
Poor Simpson must be slowly dying in the booth. Let’s see how smug Darling gets as the game agonizingly moves on.
October 5th, 2012
You said it all for me. Even during the 90’s this team NEVER had a good offense and was always having to win 1 and 2 run games. I never have understood why.
Just shows a 90+ win season means jack crap when u can’t even win a head to head wild card game, at home nonetheless. What a pathetic ass team, just f’n pathetic. Who remembers Conrad’s errors a few years ago? Who will remember the ones today by Chipper, Uggla, and Simmons? Different players, same tired ass routine. The laughing stock of baseball right here. Only played 1 more game than the Marlins, and every other team that was horrible this year. 1 f’n game better. That is what seperates a 90+ win team and a 60+ win team. Un f’n real.
mpimentel, then don’t be a fan.
Sad thing is that it doesn’t even hurt anymore
talk about dying by the sward…their bats were due to haunt them in the playoffs…pathetic!
A pathetic embarrassment, by a team of CHOKE artists, since 2011. Unreal. Losers all, Aren’t you happy for (this) one more game, Chipper? You and your team exit as an embarrassment to playoff baseball. Great ending..
Please sell this franchise.
I will miss Chipper a lot. This is kind of sad to be honest. But it is baseball and nobody said it was always pretty and nice. Just hate to see him go out on a final down note like this. Shame.
hahaha lol @ Veer
October 5th, 20127:20 pm
I’m so tired of this team finding new ways to rip out my heart. This franchise is cursed in the strangest way. They so often make it to the big stage only to embarrass themselves once there. I feel like such a dolt, I really thought this year would be different.
Just think, less than a month for the Hawks. lol
23-1. Guess what the 1 is.
Chipper can retire to his ranch and think about his throw to Jason Heyward all winter! LMAO That is when this game turned, any way you slice it.
Anybody here a fan of the 1-game elimination right about now? Didn’t think so.
Sad to see Chipper Jones’ career end on the exact same pathetic note as Bobby Cox’s did (because at this point it sure seems headed that way). I wish I had a dollar for every time I’ve heard “Best defense in baseball” this game in regard to an “uncharacteristic error”. And that’s why 1-game eliminations make zero sense. The St. Louis Cardinals just got a GIFT, both by the Braves defense and the fact that they make up 6 or 7 games in the standings in one contest.
October 5th, 20127:21 pm
Can you feel that chicken bone? C H O K E over and over again C H O K E
PO Braves Fan
I am so mad I waste my entire season watching this team only to be disappointed once again. The Braves always freeze up. Maybe Chipper should take the team to HOOTERS (why people never mention this during season is beside me). Congrats on a great career on the field— off the field not so much.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
