More Fredi logic — Hinske is experienced (so is David Justice and he could probably step in and give a better AB right now) but has some logic (2) Hinske over Francisco because McCann is lefthaanded and is also on the bench — Huh? What it really boils down to is whether Larry, Curly, or Moe should get the last seat on the bench. Let’s hope Hinske is only on the roster today for his cheerleading talents.

Overbay & Baker. Another brilliant decision, Fredi. We want to win – start making good decisions. And bravesgrl4life – you don’t drop cheering for the Braves just because of one player. You’re not a real chopping Braves fan. GO CHIPPER & BRAVES!!!!

I know that it was long ago and far, far away, but, Hinske did hit the game winning two run homer in the 3rd game of the NL Div Playoff Series(against Frisco) in 2010.
Only probelm was, Bobby Cox’es tactical errors, blew the game(that’s my opin. anyhow) for the Braves(3 to 2 loss).
And what would have been a 2-1 Braves advantage in the series, with game 4 at the Ted.
Oh well, you’ll have that from time to time.
go braves, get those bats a-going.

Overbay was terrible for the first two weeks he was here, but has looked a bit better lately and had some of the better ABs on Wednesday. I would rather he be at the plate in a big spot than Hinske or Francisco. I think Pastornicky is the second best RH bat off the bench (with Ross starting) Not a lot of choises, but it is what it is.

Win or lose i think the braves had a great year! 94 wins should get you the division, however the nationals are in our divsion & they are a few games better. We just need to get at least a couple runs & with medlen on the mound with the record he has i believe the braves have a greater chance at winning this. GO BRAVES!!

Overbay vs Lohse: lifetime is batting .385 with 1 hr, 2 doubles, and 2 rbi’s.
Francisco has batted .166 since Aug.1 with one lousy hr. and 24 k’s in 54 ab’s
Pretty easy decision since the Braves had the worst PH average in NL.

The Braves do not have alot of great options with their pinch hitters. Fredi just basically rolled the dice on his selections. Hopefully, the game will not come down to which team has the better pinch hitters.

The 2010 Hinske had some decent credentials leading up to that game 3 HR. If that were to happen this year it would be in the realm of the Rick Camp homerun on a 4th and 5th of July in a season long ago and far away.

Braves, tied for 4th best record in MLB, tied with two divisional winners, and a better record than 2 of the other divisional winners.
That ain’t too bad.
I hope they can win today.
I likes their chances, I like them a lot.

I agree – if our Braves can survive today’s coin flip game, I believe they can go to the NLCS.
I believe they can beat the Nats in a 5-game series.
I think they can beat the Giants in a 7.
I am not so sure about beating the Reds in a 7.

Why is it that armchairs armed with nothing more than a morning paper seem to think themselves more qualified to run a baseball team than folks who are, you know, actually IN baseball? Fredi G will be in the running for manager of the year while the know-it-alls will be returning to their various hum-drum lives on Monday morning… I guess even crybabies need to create a semblance of self-esteem for themselves, as deluded as that might be…

So that shows, almost anything can happen in baseball.

Francisco should have been chosen over Hinske.. Only glaring omission that I see, although Gearin was chosen over Moylan- so there goes the experience argument.
Wonder whats up with Sheets going home instead of hanging out with the team given his leadership.

Nice work Braves. Good job Freddie. Win it and you shut a lot of people up, including me. As a lifelong Braves fan this is the worst part of the season. I can’t shut out the doubt. Our only World Series was the year I renounced baseball because of the strike, then it was Charley Liebrandt in relief of a close game, Jim Leyritz, the extra inning Houston game, the Marlins…No wonder it is tough to find hope.

U no the Braves will blow this game for tree reasons
1) They hire a loosing managar with a loosing recod.
2) Shelfish Chipper is still on the rooster
3) Drunky Hanson is still on the rooster.

Well if they get that deep into the bench players, it is probably not a good sign. Using all those bench players would indicate a lot of pitching changes or a long extra inning game. I only wanna see 1 maybe 2 non-starters enter the game. EOF in the 8th if needed. Kimbrel in the 9th if needed.

Why not Ben sheets over Minor or Gearrin? Unless Sheets is still injured whom would you rather have face a Matt holiday or any of the other Cardinal right handers,Sheets or Gearrin? It’s only one game and Sheets showed me his arm is ready. Strange and not very loyal treatment to a guy who reenergized the braves for a couple of weeks at critical time. Sheets struck out McCuthcheon swinging on a mid nineties stuff. I agree with Chipper that you need that skill level in playoff baseball.

And they will blow the game for “tree” reasons. Not “bush” or “flower” reasons. I could see blowing a game for “tree” reasons in the spring when the hardwoods are filling the air with pollen though.

What is Chipper talking about? wouldn’t the shadows be gone by 6 o’clock at this time of year. The shadows might cause problems in the early innings but not after about the third or fourth. Should be much more a problem on Sunday.

Just thought I would be the first Cardinal Fan to come on here and gloat about our pending victory.
It will be a piece of cake winning in that library of a field known as Turner Field. Your fans are lame, passionateness, and will be without a team in the post season in a few hours. Too bad you guys dont holler as loud at the Braves games, as you do at them Tractor Pulls, Monster Truck Rallies, and Thuga Games.. Go Cardinals!!!

CyberNerd Fans do not win games, its 40 minutes to first pitch and all the Braves “Fans” are on their computers instead of the ball park.. So typical of the weakest sport city around. We could pitch 76 year old Bob Gibson, and he would still shut down your punchless lineup.
Go Cards!

michael, I would trust Mike Minor against just about anyone right now. He was among the best pitchers in baseball post AS break. But he’s only there for some insurance if they need some long relief (really only likely if there are extra innings).
Loosing Manager, Hanson is not on the “rooster” for today and probably won’t be period this poste season even if the Braves make it to the NLDS.
Cardinal Charlie, the game is completely sold out. Oh and Lohse really shut down our lineup earlier this year right?

Makes sense to me. I like Juan within reason (the most power on the team), but his pinch hit ABs are pretty bad. His start games are where he seems turn in better somewhat ABs.

Shame, shame, shame Atlanta fans. You exhibited every stereotype of southern redneck behavior. Throwing you beer cans on the field; no security walking out the perpetrators out of the stadium. Let me tell you about class. . . Milgel Cabrerra won the triple crown in Kansas City this week against our hapless Royals and was given a standing ovation by the 30,000 Royals fans including a curtain call coming back out of the dugout to acknowledge the ovation. Don’t you guys ever grow up?
