Selig is such a tool. Yes, I understand they want to put the Yankees in prime time, but 3:07 pm, really?
I guess it won’t matter since we will likely lose today anyways, but ridiculous nonetheless. Also this 1 game wild card, and new 2-3 format are completely idiotic.
October 5th, 201210:33 am
Go Braves!!!! Can’t wait! About to leave for the game!!!
Francisco left off just cause he’s a terrible pinch hitter?
October 5th, 201210:34 am
hey cooch, the Yanks don’t play today…
October 5th, 201210:36 am
I can’t believe that they are starting Monday’s game at 4:37 pm. Don’t they realize that people work during the day?
Bream Is My Homie
October 5th, 201210:40 am
Based on the unemployment numbers, there are plenty of people who should be able to fill the stands at 4:37pm, am I right?
October 5th, 201210:42 am
I know CSP, I’m talking about Sunday. Today’s game is at 5:07, not 3:07.
October 5th, 201210:43 am
Am I missing something….somewhere….? Where is the WC roster posted…..? I see the nine pitchers, but can’t find the 16 position players.
Eric in Tampa
October 5th, 201210:46 am
This is nothing new for Atlanta. They’ve opened many Division Series games in the 4:00 hour, and in the 90’s, they often were the 1pm game when there were 3 games, at 1:00/4:30/8:00. When there’s only 2 playoff games, and a New York team is one of the teams, they go in prime time.
SeaAtl – I think you answered your own question. Yes, you are missing something. Your missing who the 16 position players are…
October 5th, 201210:48 am
Haha – point taken!
October 5th, 201210:49 am
OFs Michael Bourn, Jose Constanza, Jason Heyward, Reed Johnson and Martin Prado
Cs Boscan, McCann, Ross; INFs Baker, Freeman, Hinske, Jones, Overbay, Pastornicky, Simmons, Uggla
October 5th, 201210:56 am
Bud Selig is a complete imbecile. 5:07 is idiotic. But 3:07? Suck it Bud. If we lose, Chipper needs to walk out to the centerfield grass, drop his pants, and coil up a big steamy log on the grass.
October 5th, 201210:58 am
Anyone got our day game record handy?
October 5th, 201211:00 am
Where’s Fransisco? Why Hinske? Hopefully it won’t come down to something like that…
October 5th, 201211:01 am
Bob & Oh me…. – where are you getting this info.?
October 5th, 201211:02 am
Don’t think unemployed people can afford to buy a ticket! GO BRAVES!!!
Is it 5 O'Clock yet?
I like Hinske’s post season experience. He was clutch for us against SF in 2010.
October 5th, 201211:03 am
Monday is a federal holiday, wonder if that has anything to do with the starting time. Alot of people have it off.
October 5th, 201211:04 am
Dave, thanks for the scoop… helps with weekend planning… oh the pressures.
SeaAtl – D.O.B. tweeted the roster earlier.
Has Fransisco ever hit a HR in post-season play before?
October 5th, 201211:08 am
Has Hinske hit anything this year? Overbay? Seriously???
Hopefully its just semantics and the good guys win 7-0 and we don’t have to worry about pinch hitting…
October 5th, 201211:17 am
Unless this one goes deep into extras (which i don’t think any of us could handle watching)… Mac, Reed, and Constanza should be the only ones that come off the bench… maybe Pastor as a PR if Mac gets on.
October 5th, 201211:18 am
So when we need a left handed bat to provide some power in the late innings, we’re stuck with Overbay instead of Francisco? WTF? And Baker??
Long time fan
October 5th, 201211:19 am
We use Reed Johnson, Constanza and the Rev. as PH. As for Hinske, he didn’t hit and thus he doesn’t play today. Also, McCann come off the bench for power. Of course lets win the game and maybe we redo the roster for Sunday. The bench obviously will have to be dealt with next year.
October 5th, 201211:20 am
Today the Braves will put runners on base every inning and……………………..leave them there, continuing a never ending maddening exercise of what they’re famous for, what they excell at :
It’s to the point to where they are un-watchable.
I truly feel sorry for Medlen, a really good young pitcher wasting his career with a “no-hitting” comatose team like the Braves.
The Cardinals are a quality hitting team, clutch hitting.
Golf courses everywhere, get ready for Braves players…………………….starting Saturday.
October 5th, 201211:24 am
The Rev comes in to bunt and nothing more
October 5th, 201211:28 am
Pete… that doesn’t happen when Med is on the mound… he’s one of the few that get’s run support… Braves have scored 5.7 RPG in the last 13 that he’s pitched
October 5th, 201211:30 am
I actually find myself rooting for the cardinals today, i love carlos beltran
October 5th, 201211:33 am
I actually find myself rooting 4 the cards today as i love carlos beltron
October 5th, 201211:35 am
Is it 5 O’Clock Yet………………………….sure hope you’re right for today’s game.
Same Ole, negative dumbazz comments
October 5th, 201211:37 am
Good comment……. Pete@11:20am.
What are the MEGA Millions numbers for tonight?
October 5th, 201211:38 am
post season is not the same with the phillies not in post season this year agreed??????
October 5th, 201211:40 am
i would not cry if carlos beltan hits a grand slam in 1st inning today
Dan Ugglas bat
October 5th, 201211:41 am
I cannot wait to get up there in clutch situation with runners in scoring position. maybe I will get up with bases loaded. Then get 3 – 0 count. Then let one rip and hit it a mile………..high pop up to 2nd base.
October 5th, 201211:45 am
High Noon at the Ted.
Well, High ‘Afternoon’ at the Ted, anyways.
Two tough teams in a showdown, one will fall, one will walk away.
I like the Braves chances.
IF, they can get a couple of hitters to go hot, they should win it hands down. IF, they can scrap up only a couple of runs, I still like their chances.
October 5th, 201211:47 am
Why three catchers for one game? Why inept pinchitters like Overbay? Someone explain this lack of thinking.
What is wrong with the Sunday start at 3:07? Alot more people will come to a Sunday afternoon game than a Sunday night game with school and work the next day. Only problem I see with a Sunday afternoon game is that it overlaps with NFL.

October 5th, 201211:51 am
When I chop….I chop hard. Go Braves!
Bud Selig is pissing me off lately. I know the Yankees draw a bigger market, but come on! 3 on Monday???? Why not 6, and make the Yankees game at 9:30? People would still watch it and that’s still prime time.
Oh well, we’ll cross that bridge if we get there. Let’s focus on taking care of business today!!!!
October 5th, 201211:55 am
The Braves may lose this game 2-1 or 3-2. Medlin will pitch well but the Braves dont have hitting in a 1 and done series against a great picture. If they are lucky enough to get through the may just take the next series….but 1 and done game goes against the Braves.
October 5th, 201211:57 am
I hate the yankees and I will not watch them no matter what time ole Buddy places them. (unless its against the braves in the world series).
October 5th, 201211:59 am
Why on Earth would anyone complain about a 3:00 game on a beautiful Sunday afternoon? Not too early, not too late. And no rush hour.
Jo – F-Off. Such a great “fan” you are.
October 5th, 201212:00 pm
It must be killing TBS to have to air a Braves game again.
October 5th, 201212:01 pm
Braves and Falcons play at the same time Sunday. This is why DVRs were invented.
I’d rather have Francisco than that lousy Overbay, or even Hinske. Geez.
October 5th, 201212:04 pm
TBS, because you stole our nationwide broadcast after the Time/Warner merger, shoving the Braves out the door, and NEVER show Braves games anymore unless they’re in the playoffs, I intend to watch the Falcons game live, and record the Braves; then, I’ll watch the ball game and fast-forward through your commercials. Your advertisers will have wasted their money on me.
TBS — very funny.
October 5th, 201212:06 pm
RBI — totally agree, Francisco > Overbay, Hinske. Hope this doesn’t come back to haunt us.
October 5th, 201212:08 pm
Chipper is God? No, I don’t think God would point the devil horns after homers.
Haha — just kidding, buddy. GO BRAVES!
3 catchers because both Ross and McCann have battled injuries at various times this year – just being safe. No reason to carry 11 pitchers, so you carry an extra catcher and an extra position player.
Still balking at the fact that Francisco was left off – for Hinske, Baker, Overbay…??? What is Fredi’s love with Overbay? He’s done absolutely NOTHING since he’s been with the Braves. What did he have, 2 hits in all of September? Same with Baker….
As for Bud Selig – he needs to resign.
October 5th, 201212:10 pm
And I’m still laughing at the “McCann for power off the bench” comment….I’m pretty sure he has something like 1 extra base hit in the last 6 weeks…
October 5th, 201212:14 pm
11:51am……..”Why not 6 and make the Yankee game at 9:30?”
The citizens of NYC, do not like to ride the subways, that far up, into that part of the city, that late at night, would be my guess.
p.s. add ‘e’ to back of scrap @11:45.
October 5th, 201212:15 pm
Since its obvious some of you haven’t been paying attention of late…both Hinske and Overbay have been making solid contact and Francisco is still swinging at any thrown ball – and generally missing.
October 5th, 201212:28 pm
Solid contact, eh? Hinske has 2 hits since 1 Aug. Overbay – 2 hits since 1 August. Francisco has 9 hits since 1 August.
Tell me again about solid contact…
October 5th, 201212:29 pm
Medlen will pitch a complete game 2 hitter with 12 strikeouts, one of the 2 hits will be a homer. Braves will get 3 singles scattered out thru the game and lose 1-0. Hope the Braves prove me wrong!
October 5th, 201212:31 pm
All 3 are strikeout machines…
October 5th, 201212:32 pm
JNick -And I’m still laughing at the “McCann for power off the bench” comment….I’m pretty sure he has something like 1 extra base hit in the last 6 weeks…
He’s DUE!! Just kidding, I realize that is a dangerous mindset.
The A Bomb
Bud is a MORON — Atlanta and Washington TV markets will be on Falcons-Redskins for at least the first hour.
October 5th, 201212:35 pm
I am curious. If one does not have TBS, will it not be carried “locally”, like on Peachtree TV?
October 5th, 201212:36 pm
What, no Hanson????? Thank God!!!
Dawgdad (The Original)
October 5th, 201212:45 pm
Never underestimate the intelligence of Bud Selig! The allstar game getting home field advantage in the WS and two teams qualifying for a WCard game is just two of many brain dead ideas from Bud. If the Braves lose, what kind of Flag are they going to erect on their outfield wall, maybe a lime green flag with holes in it.
October 5th, 201212:54 pm
Congrats to Freddie and the Braves, it takes courage to make these one game roster selections but if you look at what he has done you will know that a lot of thought has gone into it and I can assure you that he had a staff meeting to put this together—-Go Braves, lets play Washington !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
October 5th, 201212:57 pm
Mike Hunt @12:29am…….Pretty good, I really enjoy comments with the loser-mentallity frame of mind, like the one you just made.
But, if the Braves do ‘prove you wrong’, there will not be as much to complain about, for all of the real Braves fans, like us.
Selig should be buried with the Yankees up his coffin.
Michigan Braves Fan
October 5th, 20121:03 pm
Gearrin instead of Moylan? wtf Freddi? Lyly Overby, really?
October 5th, 20121:08 pm
So ready for this game! Already got my tickets for Sunday and am glad to see the 3:00 starting time, perfect for getting there with enough time to tailgate, enjoy the game in the sunshine, and head home happy!
October 5th, 20121:11 pm
I am just glad the Cards didn’t decide to pitch a rookie that has never faced us before. If that was the case, we would be doomed for sure. Against established pitchers, we may do well!
Train Wreck Bystander
October 5th, 20121:17 pm
If they had scheduled the Sunday and Monday games in prime time, then people would bitch about the night games before a work day hurting attendance.
The moral of the story is that people will always bitch.
Can I get a ticket with food stamps?
October 5th, 20121:20 pm
I live outside the US and had MLBTV the whole season? Can i watch todays game or do I have to buy that stupid 4.99 deal?
October 5th, 20121:21 pm
It should be on Tbraves.
October 5th, 20121:41 pm
Francisco being left off the WC roster which uses 2 more position players than normal says a lot about any thoughts he may have had about taking over at 3B next year. Based on performance I would have put him ahead of Hinske though.
October 5th, 20121:44 pm
Overbay over Fancisco? That decision by Fredi is a head scratcher. The bullpen and pitching decisions seem pretty sound and well thought out. The concept of having three catchers sound pretty good, considering both McCann and Ross have been battling injuries. Medlen has earned the confidence of Fredi and the team to get this start. He has the best run support of any other pitcher in the rotation, the team likes playing behind him when he pitches. I just hope the TEAM goes out and plays like there is no tomorrow till the end.
Simmons will be this year’s Mark Lemke!!!
October 5th, 20121:48 pm
If Mac gets a hit we need to call timeout and put in Pastor to run to first. Lately he couldnt score from third if the guy behind him hit a triple.
October 5th, 20121:54 pm
McCann will be used exclusively as pinch runner in late innings due to perfect stolen base record ;@)
October 5th, 20121:55 pm
Hey COOCH thanks for the support
Zac in Tempe
October 5th, 20121:56 pm
In a game like this, I don’t think Mac will be doing any of his own stunts Roja.
Hinske?can’t hit…you got Overbay to play1b if necessary.Francisco has more pop…
October 5th, 20122:01 pm
FREDI on why Hinske over Francisco: “With Hinske being experienced in that spot, and having McCann on the bench with a left-handed bat kind of gave us that option of carrying Eric instead of Francisco.”
October 5th, 20122:03 pm
Fredi said on MLB..That he went with “Bay” over “Fancis” for this one game because he had Macann a lefty to pinch hit..
my work colleagues have no idea…..but inside my head right now as I sit at my desk: “please win please win please win please win please win please win please win please win PLeeeeaaaaasseee Wiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnn.
Better said DOB..
October 5th, 20122:04 pm
@breamismyhomie…no if people is not working because they dont have a job if no job comes no money then no ticket to watch the game…the braves sure dont feel for the people rthat has lost their jobs and give out free tickets…i think all the millionaires on the braves should buy some of us poor people tickets….GO BRAVOS
October 5th, 20122:08 pm
Ease up on Bud Selig. I am sure he has minimal say in determining the times of the games and the teams the networks want to put into prime time. He would probably only have a voice if a scheduled game time put one of the teams in an unfair travelling arrangement. Professional sports have sold out their control to the TV networks long ago.
October 5th, 20122:13 pm
Hope “O” win today also…with my Braves.
