You are all a-holes…this looked like a crap call because it WAS a crap call – the fans knew it…it’s in the Rule Book, so why was it ignored??? THE REFS ARE NOT THE GAME – THE PLAYERS ARE THE GAME!! these damed baseball referees/umpires are the worst, most self-centered, egoists in professional sports!!!! If those guys got out of the stadium w/out a black eye they should consider themselves fortunate – if this had happened in Baltimore, Philly. Pittsburgh, NY, Detroit, LA or Sacremento, those guys would never had made it out of the stadium…i’ll bet they are still at the Ted right now!

Why do the media groups keep saying it was a controversial call? It wasn’t controversial. Call it what it was and that is a bad call. The ump that made that call should be dismissed from post season games.

It doesn’t matter if they can drop the ball to turn a double play or if its 220 feet away. The rule is the rule. After the infielder was under the ball calling for it the umpire called infield fly. Will people look up the rule before claiming it was too far away or they couldn’t double him up. Not one of those is a rule. Braves blew the game in the 7th

CHOKE! The call was choked horribly by the field ump as well as the Braves defense or lack of defense sucked as well. Bourn is a huge choke artist as well, striking out with bases loaded to end the inning. Find us a lead off man that puts the bat on the ball. Who’s filling third next year? I can’t say I look forward to spring training, who the hell knows what to expect. A lot of alcohol wasted in the Braves celebration to get to a one game playoff just to choke. Speaking of a one game playoff, who’s wise idea was that? IDIOTIC to have a one game playoff in baseball after playing 162 games a season. Just disappointing all around and I’m not sure what to look forward to with this team next year. To the ump that made the horrid call, hang your sh*t up and don’t return next year, you’re horrible.

unbalanced divisions, unbalanced schedules. they can’t extend the season too long and say can’t make division winners wait. why not ?

I am so old BUT, I have to say–Thirty freaking years ago, PHIL NIEKRO was LEADING against the Cardinals in the 1st game of the 1982 NL playoffs and lacked ONE F—— out for an official game. The UMPS called for a delay and eventually a rainout and Niekro was wasted for the playoffs–done–series over. He was so good that year. I guess we need to stay away from the Cards..Guess who was managing for the Braves–the same guy that supported the stupid ass call made tonight–Joe Torre–say it ain;t so Joe–C-mon! –He had to back his guys!– Next year Braves fans–

Terrible call but as several have mentioned, the bases would have been loaded with one out. Given how pitiful the Braves were this season in getting the hit they needed in those situations, does anyone really believe that the Braves would have actually scored???? When you go thru an entire season of futility in getting key hits in these situations how can you expect to suddenly produce when the chips are down in a one game playoff??? And the play of the infield was on little league level (my apologies to little league for such an insult). Bottom line, Braves played pitiful defense, hitting as usual let them down in key situations and the end result is another bitter loss. Where is Brooks Conrad when you need him???

Lots of hits, only one clutch hit. Too bad the defense let us down. Would not be here without Chipper.

Great season, I like the one and done. Lots to build on but many questions remain, Uggla, Bourne, McCann are the big ones. Two bad seasons in a row for McCann and Uggla, Bourne horrible second half with too many Ks for a leadoff hitter. Braves still need power hitters at 3rd and LF and a good lead off hitter.

I thought Fredi did decent, better the second half than the first.

MLB has no guts, that call should have been reversed. If MLB had any guts that umpire would not be in any further playoff games.

I cannot fault the Braves fans.

Ned

October 5th, 2012

Braves fans reacted 100% appropriately to that call. They made the protest for Fredi. In New York, there would have been violence, so the Braves fans reaction was well within what was appropriate for the situation. Braves fans were well within their rights to trash the field after what is probably the worst call in MLB postseason history, and in a one game playoff. That ump should be taken out of playoff ball indefinitely. Obviously not suited for high pressure situations and doesn’t know or understand the basic rules of the game.
