One of the worst calls in MLB history.

Yes starting a young pitcher in a one game series instead of a veteran and playing that idiot Uggla in the biggest game of the year are terrible calls. Hopefully Not Ready Fredi will be packing his bags and moving back to Miami next week.

The call was horrible, but let’s keep it in its proper context. The players lost this game. Honestly, even if the call had gone our way, does anyone think anybody from this merry band of losers would have come up with a clutch hit?

The culture of choking continues. Everything was set up for us to exorcise some demons tonight. We had Medlen on the mound with a rocking crowd and a 2-0 lead. Only the Braves could blow it so spectacularly.

Changes have to be made. Not wholesale changes, no. This is a good team that had a good year. I don’t think you fire Fredi. I do think you fire Dan Uggla. I do think you tell Michael Bourn good riddance.

But other than that, I have no answers. We’ve changed managers. We’ve changed players. The choking never stops. The inability to win at Turner Field in October never stops. Maybe we just need to be like Cubs fans and accept that we are destined to a lifetime of failure in the postseason.

Well, getting up early to watch the boys lose was not fun. 12 am local here in Middle East. But watching them lose because a multitude of bad things (umpires, errors, men left on base) was harder. I wish Chipper the best and he (in my books) will go down as the best Braves player in history. I am looking forward to this offseason to see what we do. Regardless the outcome Go Braves and thanks for memorable last season Chipper!

This loss isn’t the umpires’ fault. This team, as it has done time and again, choked when it counted most. The Cards wanted it more and were the better team, despite the Braves’ having owned them in the season. What a lame, weak, and pathetic bunch of losers. I hope the ‘end of an era’ comments we keep hearing mean the end of failed expectations. There is no reason on Earth why this team should have gotten beat tonight, except for the fact that it’s a well-established normal thing for them to choke when it means the most. Goodbye, Chipper. I hope you enjoy that losing taste for the rest of your days.

Please do not take the vital over the IFR call as being against the Cards. This issue is deeper and goes back to Hrbek pulling Gant, Gregg’s one-sided strike zone, and a number os slights/errors against the Braves.

I just want to see if the media destroys the umpires and has them replaced. just like the replacement refs….Bet they don’t because the media is gutless. We should replace the current structure of our media, because of their bias. They should stand for truth and not favoritism of political parties, unions. They play an important part for our society…if they are consistent this game will be played from start from point of mistake and have the Braves load the bases, apologize to braves and tell them all close calls will go their way for rest of game (no bias here ;-)

Sam Holbrook’s Wikipedia page has been locked since he made the bad call. Gee, I wonder why? Among his notable contributions in the field of aggressively bad umpiring, he is the fellow who ejected Greinke for spiking the ball in frustration, and action which was in no way directed towards Holbrook or the umpiring crew. He has a heck of a fine career ahead of him as an Eric Gregg impersonator — he’s already got the girth. Sure, the Braves were blowing the game pretty much every inning, so did Holbrook feel like the Cardinals needed any help? Rich Garcia, Don Denkinger, Jim Joyce, and the ghost of Eric Gregg are all thanking Sam Holbrook for positioning himself to be known hereafter as the worst umpire in baseball history. A thoroughly disgusting display of arrogant incompetence.

A few observations:
1) The infield-fly call was questionable to say the least. The umpire raised his arm at the last minute, and neither Cardinal player could have seen it.
2) That said, this call did not cost the Braves the ball game. Terrible fielding by the Braves, along with timely hitting by St. Louis, did that.
3) The behavior of the Atlanta fans was disgraceful. Nothing can warrant the kind of boorish, low-rent acts that threatened the health of the players and delayed the game almost 20 minutes.
4) Farewell, Chipper Jones. It’s really too bad your last game will be remembered for such questionable umpiring and shameful fan behavior.
