NL Wild Card game: Cardinals at Braves
When: 5:07 p.m. Friday (first pitch)
TV; radio: TBS; 680, 93.7, 100.5
Starting pitchers: Cardinals RH Kyle Lohse (16-3, 2.86 ERA) vs. RH Kris Medlen (10-1, 1.57)
About Lohse: One of the few games that Lohse was not on top of his game was May 30 at Turner Field when Brian McCann and Freddie Freeman both hit first-inning home runs in a 10-7 Braves victory.
About Medlen: In his past 10 starts, Medlen has given up only seven earned runs, three of those in one game against the Marlins on Sept. 25. His only previous appearance this season when he gave up as many as three earned runs was May 2 against the Philadelphia Phillies, a wild 15-13 Braves victory.
Sidelights: Two-time Grammy award winner and Marietta native Travis Tritt will sing the national anthem. Atlanta Opera singer Timothy Miller will perform ‘God Bless America’ during the seventh-inning stretch.
Choptober: The first 45,000 fans will receive a foam tomahawk.
Fan information: Ticket windows will open at 8:30 a.m. to purchase or pick up pre-purchased tickets in advance and will remain open until the end of the sixth inning. Standing room only tickets ($18 each) are available. Single-game suite tickets are available for $100 each (includes a $25 food and beverage credit added to ticket). Fans are strongly encouraged to arrive early. Parking lots will open five hours before the first pitch and the gates will open three hours before the first pitch.
Parking: Official parking lots for Turner Field are at capacity for the game. Those that haven’t pre-purchased parking are strongly encouraged to take MARTA. The MARTA Braves shuttle begins its run 90 minutes before the first pitch from the Underground Atlanta/Five Points MARTA station to Turner Field until one hour after the final out. For those fans who may want to arrive at the ballpark before the MARTA Braves shuttle begins its game operation MARTA recommends catching any one of three other available bus routes – the No. 32, the No. 49 or the No. 55. All three bus lines may be caught at the Five Points MARTA station and all three routes stop at points near Turner Field.
For the NLDS: A Braves victory Friday means they will host the first two games of the National League Division Series on Sunday and Monday. For guaranteed seats to the home games in the series against the Washington Nationals, fans are encouraged to purchase postseason strips by calling 404-577-9100.
