That’s just weird, Mixxo
“Be honestly”…does the AJC have copy editors?
Fredi should start the starters tomorrow. Whoever he’s planning on starting for the WC game needs to play tomorrow. No way do you give people three days off as he said. At least some at bats by the regulars need to happen tomorrow. Give em a couple of bats and then take them out. Gotta get the offense going. Bourn is hitting well, so is Prado and Uggla, but everyone else is stumbling and scuffling. Good to see Heyward square a ball up last night though. Uggla should DEFINITELY PLAY unless his thumb is still giving him issues. What is it with the Braves this year and their fingers? Two head first slides and some glass in a cooler.
It would be horrible, I don’t want to ever see us lose, but a tiny part of me wanted the streak to end before the postseason. However, I think Medlen will be fine. Just gotta keep doing what he’s been doing. Hopefully those solid numbers against Lohse continue for the offense because you gotta think with the way the Cardinals have been swinging the bat that they’re going to score at least two runs. I hope Meds shuts them out, but he is hittable, and a little more so lately than he was in the middle of this streak.
He can ill afford to start against the Cardinals the way he started against the Mets. Once the third started, he was sharp, but he’s gotta be that sharp the entire time he’s out there. I’m sure he will be. He’s fearless, ferocious and pitches his BEST against top tier teams. He made the Nats offense, which I think is the bets in the NL, to one run in two starts. He’s a freak, he’ll keep it up.
Get everyone a couple of at bats tomorrow and then yank them. And start Ross in the WC game! Mac is just way to banged up and hardly plays anymore. He’s not getting enough reps to be ready for the postseason. I know he’s our guy, but he has so many injuries that he just can’t function at a high level right now.
If you rest him three days and then play him Friday, he might lay an egg. I don’t know, we need our BEST players out there on Friday.
Rossy has been clutch this year, that homer off Lee. The homer on Sunday. He’s had plenty of moments this year where he’s shined. I can’t think of the last time McCann played well consistently since July. He had an absolutely torrid stretch, but since then that cist and whatever else is going on in that shoulder is just killing him. I almost want to say put Uggla in the three hole given his good work of late, and his good numbers against Lohse. But part of me also says, you gotta dance with the one who got you here. Heyward’s been cold overall though.
I do not envy the job of Fredi right now. I’ll be back at some point.

Scared of Overbay
October 2nd, 20127:24 pm
Wanted to see Teheran pitch tomorrow who the hell cares if Sheets gets another loss.Hope we can sign Greinke and trade Hanson and MaHolm.Overbay is a piece of crap that will make playoff roster.
The Braves are totally hopeless when they get behind 1-0. They quit. They have no fight in them. All season long their come from behind wins were miniscule……………………pathetic.
Come this Friday they better jump out to a 3-0 start or it’s off to the golf course on Sat.
October 2nd, 20127:27 pm
The Braves led the league in come from behind wins, Pete.
October 2nd, 20127:29 pm
Hit one out big man
Ghost of Chipper Jones
October 2nd, 20127:30 pm
Hey PETE, switch to CLUELESS will ya’?
October 2nd, 20127:31 pm
I’m sure glad Chip told me how big a pickup Francisco has bee.
October 2nd, 20127:32 pm
Come on, uh, what’s your name
October 2nd, 20127:34 pm
I would say HANSOIN is pitching for a spot on next season’s 25-man. I hope he rests up and comes out of the gate with a new delivery.
October 2nd, 20127:35 pm
Well if CHIP JONES likes him……
October 2nd, 20127:37 pm
I so want Ross to get the start over Mac but it’s not going to happen. If Mac is 0-2 or 0-3….in a tight game, I’d love to see FG acknowledge that by giving Ross an opportunity. He’s earned it.
Seriously, is there any reason for Hanson to be on *ANY* post season roster…WC, NLDS, NLCS, WS???
October 2nd, 20127:38 pm
Mac woulda thrown him out!!!
October 2nd, 20127:39 pm
Can we manufacture runs like that?
October 2nd, 20127:40 pm
“Can we manufacture runs like that?”
Not likely……especially lately.
good thing we don’t play in the central
Gil In Mechanicsville
October 2nd, 20127:43 pm
If the Braves add Tommy Hanson to their post season roster as anything other than someone to hold the rest of the starters’ hats, they are completely out of touch with reality .
I don’t care what tonight’s score ends up being. I just want that GEICO caveman-looking heap on the bump for the BRAVES to go seven and not burn up the pen. It’s o.k. with me if he has to throw 250 pitches and loses 38-0.
Come on, Biff!!
October 2nd, 20127:44 pm
Good chance we get no hit tonight with are worthless bench. I”d really spend my money to watch these guys bat.No Francisco will not make a sarting 3rd baseman.Overbay ,Baker and Constanza dont even think about them next year.Hanson your piece of crap tought you were going to stop them from stealing this year . I say trade him but who would want the big dummy that throws 88 MPH. Enough off this game has to be something better to watch like spong bob.
October 2nd, 20127:46 pm
A GIL sighting! My main man…..how’s tricks? Still want to lunch over your way? Or a three=peat at O’TOOLE’S
Yay, a sacrifice hit
Steal third, Biff
October 2nd, 20127:47 pm
Sheets will start Wednesday’s season finale, then plans to retire
Hey Pete, are you insane? What about when we were down 9-0 TO WASHINGTON, CAME BACK AND WON! If you think that’s a small margin to come back from then you are… words can’t describe what you are if you truly believe that. Four nothing to Washington as well. 7-1 to the Phillies and came back as well. Need I say more?
Postseason roster is too valuable @Gil. I agree, Hanson should not be out there.
Repost for the evening folks
October 2nd, 2012
Good morning all
Sad night we just could not push across runs, all season long we wasted good pitching. BUT WAIT the season as a whole was pretty good we stayed in contention down to last three days of season. It was great and sad at the same time to watch CHIPPERS last season. Good to watch MEDLEN and MINOR develop and JASON improve, also FREDDY. Now two days of ST LINEUPS a loss Friday and we can relax and look for even better things next year, with our pitching it could happen.
So long, ryan

Really!!!! Coulda’ fooled me.
Wednesday is the day this week without an 8:00 a.m. hospital or dr’s office call for my wife. I’ll be waiting for a jingle. Man, I can use a drink!
I wasn’t sure I would ever see another Triple Crown
October 2nd, 20127:57 pm
Almost forgot I’m temporarily GCL. Soon be time to return to rich…….
AZL start on the fourth
tough to decide if Bat or George got the better of those comments….
October 2nd, 20127:59 pm
Med will probably pitch well, but I doubt he will receive any support and the Cards will put together a few nickle and dimes for a couple of runs and everyone will turn to the Falcons.
October 2nd, 20128:00 pm
Lyle Lyle, the crocodile finally hit the ball.
I was cribbing off of George
October 2nd, 2012
Just playing with mouse and pushed at wrong time.
October 2nd, 20128:03 pm
Atta boy, Juan
October 2nd, 20128:04 pm
someone should tweet Chip and tell him that Triple Crown winners have not always been MVPS
October 2nd, 20128:06 pm
Dang this umpire is all over the place tonight with his strike zone….
October 2nd, 20128:08 pm
If JUAN ever exhales, and learns that the same rate of swing can net a HR as well as a single, the young man will becomes a very dangerous person with a bat in his hands.
His extra wiggle when he tries to muscle up takes a fraction of a second, and throws his balance and swing completely off.
Nice double there. Maybe GREG’s gettin’ through to him. Prolly should leave him off the post-season roster though….dontcha’ think?
October 2nd, 20128:09 pm
Don’t know if I can stand the excitment.
For those who understand and love WAR
So if the Braves win tonight…does every Braves starter besides Bourn and Simmons…WAR drop by 1.0?!?
October 2nd, 20128:11 pm
Hanson’s lucky that Bourn and Rev saved him in the 3rd… it could be worse. He’s doing okay, though. Keep it up.
October 2nd, 20128:13 pm
HANSON’s pitching. I’m 99.2.
October 2nd, 20128:14 pm
Jack Wilson was just on with the Pirates guys. He seems like a really good guy- looking forward to being Dad.
October 2nd, 20128:15 pm
Speaking of Triple Crown and MVP – Ted Williams batted for the triple crown in 1942 and 1947. Both years he finished second in MVP voting!
No… no need for him to be on the Braves roster next year either. Enjoy what’s possibly his last appearance as a Braves.
October 2nd, 20128:16 pm
wow. the bucs sure went all out for larry. maybe they should have gone with the parrot/eye patch/peg leg combo. he would have gotten more use out of them.
October 2nd, 20128:18 pm
Gretchen Kaney @GeeJayKaney
Braves postseason experience– Chipper Jones: 92 career games. Rest of team: 81 games.
October 2nd, 20128:19 pm
Speaking of Triple Crown and MVP – Ted Williams batted for the triple crown in 1942 and 1947. Both years he finished second in MVP voting…animus
yeah I talked about that yesterday
October 2nd, 20128:20 pm
Ghost: How does that work, the higher the number the “worse” it is? I’d bump that up to 104. Deathly sick.
October 2nd, 20128:21 pm
“Thanks, DOB. Yeah, nice exposing the hypocrisy of the Cardinals “not wanting to celebrate getting into the WC play-in game.”
BTW, they haven’t clinched yet. I’m no fan of the Dodgers, but I do like Karma, and I hope Karma helps the Dodgers overtake STL.”
What exactly does Karma apply to in this instance? The Cards, apparently, are just trying to sort though the whole concept of celebrating the right to play a game to see if they actually can participate in the playoffs. And this comes from a team that just won the WS. They simply don’t know what’s normal in this situation. When has there been a time when a team celebrated that it might be in the playoffs?..You shake hands on field and maybe bounce up a down like only baseball players can.
October 2nd, 20128:23 pm
Sorry nolie didn’t read the blog yesterday – did you mention Chuck Klein and Lou Gehrig also?
October 2nd, 20128:24 pm
*To Paul Simon’s Still Crazy…*
Still terrible with RISP.
So if the Braves win tonight…does every Braves starter besides Bourn and Simmons…WAR drop by 1.0?!? Nothing? Really?
Tommy Hanson is making his audition for the post-season…official team bunter. Wow. Looking tremendous as a bunter tonight.
October 2nd, 20128:25 pm
AN 0-3 with 2Ks sure doesn’t help Bourn
October 2nd, 20128:26 pm
I think the real Bourn took a day off too …. the one that’s in the lineup right now isn’t doing anything
Does any one know when they are announcing Friday nights wild card game time?
October 2nd, 20128:28 pm
A great comeback indeed, Joe.
Didn’t matter though, now did it?
October 2nd, 20128:29 pm
Works for me, Mixxo.
Great song, terrible offense.
I thought it was Carl Farbman
October 2nd, 20128:30 pm
“Does any one know when they are announcing Friday nights wild card game time?”
probably tomorrow or Thursday
That’s not what we needed. Ross is our PS starter. Told him to start Boscan!
October 2nd, 20128:31 pm
you are unbelievably dumb Mitchell, and annoying as hell. i hope for your sake that you are no older than 15 or 16
October 2nd, 20128:32 pm
Hey guys–and gals..wonderful day; even better night—wow, what with Hanson on the hill and our Bravos in high gear. What’s not to like?
Oh by the way, I did not do a thing today…I totally mailed it in!
Probably as soon as they know whether the Yanks won the division or wild card.
Beautiful Hanson. Nice way to make a case to get on PS roster, and raise your trade value.
That’s what happens to an 87 MPH fastball in the big leagues…..
October 2nd, 20128:33 pm
Yes Sir Tommy–they love ya in Pittsburgh!
On a high note, this may be Hanson’s last start as an Atlanta Brave.
He just got smoked again.
October 2nd, 20128:34 pm
Thanks for the reply Fredo.. I know tbs shows the al game to start at 6:00 pm et. and the nl at 9:30 pm et. i hope it stays that way!
Third time through the order – Hudson’s biggest problem all year.
October 2nd, 20128:35 pm
It is hilarious…these announcers….Chirp and Joe, don’t really know what to say??????
Tommy (#7 starter) Hanson
So how does it feel to be soooo wrong about a big league pitcher’s potential?
Mark Bowman @mlbbowman
That was Jones’ 27th HR and the 27th Hanson has allowed this year. Hanson’s previous career high was 17.
Hanson really sucks. Oh well, we made it to the playoffs!
October 2nd, 20128:36 pm
I will not complain if this is the last game he’s pitched for us…….in fact this is the perfect place for him. A meaningless game while kids like Medlen prepare for the real deal.
what are the chances the Kansas City Braves see enough positive in Tommy to trade for him
October 2nd, 20128:37 pm
I bet we go through the Winter hearing from the Braves how Tommy and the coaching staff figured out a problem with Tommy’s mechanics and how he would be a beast in the Braves rotation in 2013?
Anyone want to dispute that?
October 2nd, 20128:38 pm
Tommy Hanson is going to be a nice addition to some team’s bullpen in the near future. He’d be an excellent “Chard Durbin” for some non contender.
He’s gone from future ace and anchor of the Braves rotation to Kenshin Kawakami really fast.
How has this guy won 13 games this year?
Hopefully high….as in ‘off the chart.’
Somehow a GM will trade for this…. I sure hope so. Not really seeing it.
October 2nd, 20128:40 pm
Leave Hanson in there. Make him tough it out.
He won’t make the post-season roster anyway.
Tom Hart must be really bored.
5 to f’ing 1?!
lol@ the kid Tom’s talking to in the stands.
Kid’s a playa!
October 2nd, 20128:41 pm
Can someone tell me who that kid is? The recent interview on tube
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
