Who cares? MVP is all just subjectivity and opinion anyway, right? I’m free from criticism and trying to build a reasonable case for my MVP because it’s all opinion.
MFin04, a player being on a playoff team is probably the very last factor to consider, if it’s even a factor at all. MVP is an individual award. A player’s value is determined by his contributions in terms of helping his team win or increasing their chances to win, not he and his teammates’ contributions.
Try determining MVP based on value, not based on whether you think a player deserves recognition or hype, whether you like him or whether he’s done something that is neat. Focus like a laser on value. All the other stuff has nothing to do with MVP.
The award is not Most Neat Accomplishment or Most Impressive Player on a Playoff Team or Most Popular Player Among Voters. The award should be all about value, otherwise they should just change the name.
I like the way Chipper is going out, strong. Not trying to hook up with some other team and play until people just shake their heads and say, “He should have left the game years ago.”
