9 out of 10 Braves fans couldn’t even name 50% of the Phillies everyday lineup anymore anyways. They’ve been winning with some weird names on the lineup card ever since getting rid of Pence/Victorino/etc.

Lots of choices for NL MVP. I’d go with McCutchen but Braun, Molina, Wright and Posey are all solid choices. Unlike the AL (should be), there is no clear-cut MVP.

Braves have had all season to catch the Nats and now it is what it is. I would rather go into the WC game with pitching lined up against an opponent that had to fight to the last day than the prospect of having to play in a tiebreaker game, followed by a WC game (if tiebreaker is lost), then a NLDS game (if tiebreaker won).
I know there would be the chance the tiebreaker would be won but that would still be a 163rd game which is basically what the WC game is. But the tiebreaker route could result in a 163rd and 164th game just to get to the NLDS. Either way Braves are looking at a 163rd game so I would take the path of least resistance and go WC route.

Freddie Freeman is standing even with Adrian Gonzalez in OPS, and he has 5 more HR than Adrian plus a higher OBP…. and more triples… Didn’t think that would happen.

Thanks, DOB. I know it’s unconventional, and I was skeptical a week or two ago, but every time I see those numbers for Kimbrel, I become more convinced that he may actually get the nod for the Cy Young this year.
Trying my best to take it one day at a time this week. Every time I think about Friday, another gray hair sprouts.

Those series with the Pirates were nail-biters, and they had some really good teams. While they were serious rivals and the guys we had to beat to get to the World Series, I’d never have wished what’s happened since on the Pirates or their fanbase. It’s a sad state of affairs when market size and revenue (as compared to teams like the Yankees, Red Sox, and even the Braves) makes competing so difficult for what historically has been a proud franchise. I was really hoping they’d be able to end the streak of sub-.500 seasons this year. But it’s good to see them finally moving in a better direction.

Unrelated question, but what is the game time for the Wild Card game Friday? I ask because TBS shows “6 pm” and “9:30″ for the two games. I’m assuming the Western-most home team gets the later game, but you’ve got the possibility of the Yankees or O’s hosting the AL game. Is TBS really gonna start a game at 9:30 pm? I checked to see if this was PST, but appears not.

Just thought of this…. if we catch the Nats and beat them in that tiebreaker game, and the Reds win out, we’d both have the same record, if the playin game isn’t counted. So to decide who we face next, are we seeded based on our head2head matchup with the Giants?

Jason Heyward may not be hiitting as well as he has done in some of the games I have seen, but I will place him at the top as far as being able to field his position. And you cannot neglect Mafrtin Prado who is the most versatile player on the team. Wherever you need him to play,, he plays well at any position that he is put in.

One of my favorite things about having kids is sharing movies and music that I grew up with. Last year the 6 year old wanted to go as Dusty Bottoms from The Three Amigos. She knows all the songs from the movie by heart.
I can’t wait until they are old enough to let them watch Airplane! and The Naked Gun. Last thing I need right now is the 4 year old going up to her teacher during “Northern States Month” and saying “Saaaay… nice beaver.”
