Nice AB Jason!
There’s the 1. Score no more!
Well done, JHey!
September 30th, 20123:12 pm
Okay, then. Good job
September 30th, 20123:13 pm
I’d appreciate a Chipper RBI before heading to work…
Meds is poised for a pretty big chunk of ML history if this scores holds up.
Although the “consecutive games won by your team in which you started” feels a little contrived, it’s hard to argue with “specialness” when your team has won nearly 1/8 of a season when you take the mound.
Adam Kilgore @AdamKilgoreWP
Five Ks for the first Nats’ 9 hitters. Doesn’t the hangover game come AFTER the champagne?
September 30th, 20123:14 pm
Enjoy the rest of the game, good blogspeople!
September 30th, 20123:15 pm
Come on, Freddie. Be the ball
September 30th, 20123:16 pm
Tom Hart @tom_hart
Chipper will take tomorrow off, spend the time working on his swing.
September 30th, 20123:17 pm
See ya, VJ
Brian from SC
Will they give him one more trip to the plate? I would send a defensive sub out for him sometime and give the crowd a chance to show their appreciation one more time.
September 30th, 20123:21 pm
Meds is taking it so easy, I might give him one more inning.
Coach (2012 Fredi's Beisbol Fandango)
September 30th, 20123:22 pm
BALLGAME! Medlen’s streak lives on……..
September 30th, 20123:25 pm
toronto! what the heck!! lettin the yankees tie like that …….
Dang. That was weird. Uggs must have a hard head.
Stop hitting Uggla in the head, people.
September 30th, 20123:26 pm
WSH is losing, don’t F this one up, Braves!
September 30th, 20123:28 pm
Medlen’s other streak, ten straight quality starts and twelve consecutive starts of three earned runs or less……..damn impressive, yes he is!
Nice rope by Andrelton.
Way to go, Simmons!
No Kimbrel today, it seems. Meds streak looks to continue.
September 30th, 20123:29 pm
Still reminds me of Francoeur up there at the plate. If Frenchy were a stud defensive SS instead of a corner outfielder, he’d be an All-Star. And Andrelton will be that.
Atta boy, Simmons
September 30th, 20123:30 pm
Let Chipper hit one more time. If he gets one, pinch run. If not, defensive sub in the top of the next inning.
Kevin McAlpin @KevinMcAlpin
Francisco will PH for Medlen. Kris Medlen’s line: 6 IP, 3 H, 1 R (0 ER), 1 BB, 4 K, 1 WP, 79 pitches (56 for strikes). #Braves
79 pitches. He must be tired. Very efficient today. Just over 13 pitches an inning
September 30th, 20123:31 pm
Francisco is such a waste
September 30th, 20123:32 pm
nice return game MB
I think they are giving him a bit of rest for the big game
It must be a rule that all Braves pinch hitters have to strike out, because they strike out at an alarming rate.
Mikey is looking like the rest did him some good. Great timing, too.
40 steals for Bourn, and he slid properly.
September 30th, 20123:33 pm
Looks like the Brewers are going to see their season end today. Cards are mauling the Nats, 7-0.
Also looks like tomorrow’s game in Pittsburgh is going to be meaningful.
And, as much as they might say otherwise, players like reaching plateaus like 40 stolen bases. I’m sure that’s a pretty big deal to Bourn.
Atta boy, Bourn.
Good to see
September 30th, 20123:34 pm
Still reminds me of Francoeur up there at the plate.
His swing looks so Francoeurish.
I wouldn’t say he’s a waste, but he’s not all that good. Don’t tell Lew and Largo, though…
September 30th, 20123:36 pm
If not for the loss Friday, we might be 2back with 3 to play after today… still woulda been tough
If Pittsburgh wins today, they will be hoping for a sweep of Atlanta to finish with their first .500 record in 20 years.
September 30th, 20123:37 pm
Thumbs up for Bourn….and the whole Braves roster….nice job!
September 30th, 20123:38 pm
I kinda wish that Medlen could have finished the game, it would have been great to see him out there when history was made. No need to push him though.
Hey nolie, how’s your leg doing?
September 30th, 20123:43 pm
Last AB coming up for Chipper. Soak it in.
September 30th, 20123:45 pm
Avilan has performed nicely since he was promoted to Atlanta. The bullpen has made great strides since there stuggles early in the season as well. A nice change from last September when many of the relievers were really struggling.
September 30th, 20123:48 pm
If he gets on, I might pinch run for him.
At the least, let him walk off the field with a defensive sub in the top of the 8th.
September 30th, 20123:49 pm
Chipper’s last AB
September 30th, 20123:52 pm
And Chipper gets on in another good AB.
Note that he will have some ABS in the post season & has at least one post season game at home.
Go get em guys.
September 30th, 20123:53 pm
Won’t be his last AB in Turner, just during regular season
Give me Constanza for Chipper between innings. And do it after TV comes back.
September 30th, 20123:58 pm
Good work by Avilan
September 30th, 20123:59 pm
I like Avilan.
Possibly a replacement of O’Flaherty or Venters.
I think McNate got another homer and steal today
September 30th, 20124:00 pm
Wow. Avilan looked great. He has worked himself into being a pitcher that could be trusted in high-leverage situations in my opinion.
Constanza for Chipper? Georgie can play third??
September 30th, 20124:02 pm
Looks like the Falcons are going to choke it up today.
Julio Jones = Overrated. Almost a bust. He is a BUMB.
September 30th, 20124:03 pm
Andujar said ‘one word’, where does he keep getting the ‘two words’?
September 30th, 20124:04 pm
Cam Newton > than Matt Ryan could ever hope to be.
Matty Ice is a portrait of mediocrity and second rate quality. Falcons are the fools gold they have always been — thare is no hope for them.
September 30th, 20124:06 pm
We’re likely to be 3-1 Disgusted… not all that bad. A “missed” catch might have cost us today, Julio missed staying in bounds by 3 inches. The O-line was horrible today though. Not Ryan’s fault
September 30th, 20124:07 pm
Ross was safe there…
Man why are there so many bad calls at first this year.
Ross was safe. Eddings strikes again!
September 30th, 20124:08 pm
Seeing Manny Acosta on the mound reminds me of Francoeur, Kelly Johnson, Yunel Escobar, Greg Norton, Corky Miller, Jeff Bennett, Garret “Loaf” Anderson, Derrek Lee, Kyle Farnsworth, Jordan Schafer, Nate McLouth. The Bad Old Days.
Everyone loves Doug Eddings. (sarcasm)
saw Mike Scioscia on tv today. Man did he get fat, how can he manage with so much weight? Need to sit him til he gets in shape
Umps want to get it over and get a cold one
September 30th, 20124:09 pm
Doug Eddings. In the great tradition of Bob Davidson, CB Bucknor, Angel Hernandez, Joe West and Jerry Meals. That amazing Umpires Union, where quality means nothing.
Kevin McAlpin @KevinMcAlpin
#Braves announce 50,635 at Turner Field…3rd consecutive sell out…5th of the season. 150,855 through the turnstiles this weekend!
September 30th, 20124:10 pm
Doug Eddings might be the worst ump in nearly all of MLB and that includes CB Bucknor.
September 30th, 20124:11 pm
Huge 2-out, 2-run hit in the 9th by Torii Hunter to take the lead in Texas. The Angels’ margin for error is essentially zero.
Let’s see if we get that defensive sub for Chipper now.
September 30th, 20124:12 pm
Diesel not helping that pinch hitting average
they need to pull Chipper off the field at the start of the inning.
The string of futilty and strike outs for Braves pinch hitters continues.
September 30th, 20124:13 pm
TOBF – I have had enough of the way Matt Ryan finds a way not to be at his best in big games — this was a statement game and Matty could not come through.
And Julio Jones — I am fed up with him — for all they gave up for him and the hype he is not the elite receiver he was supposed to be. He deserves to be Booed.
This performance by the Falcons today was disgraceful and the Failcons are not championship material. They are second rate an 8 to 10 W team at best.
Nolong post season run for Falcons — again. First round elimination again if they make it.
September 30th, 20124:14 pm
Those names from the 2008 and 2009 seasons invoke frustration from Braves fans on this blog. Garrett Anderson will likely stand as the Braves player I have hated the most in all my years as a fan.
September 30th, 20124:15 pm
guessing Chipper said Not
September 30th, 20124:16 pm
Fredi needs to overrule him. Too cool of a moment to pass up.
September 30th, 20124:18 pm
don’t think anybody is overruling Chipper this week
September 30th, 20124:19 pm
we’re in FG range Disgusted.
??????????? Is who is going to catch of Medlen in the 1 game playoff?? Ross or McCann? I stick with Ross due to recent success with im and medlen.
September 30th, 20124:21 pm
Speaking of Kelly Johnson remember that dropped pop up that cost them a game in the 2008 season.
The Brave I most disliked in my history with the team is Yunel cause he was so dumb, the most fundamentally dum dum player I have ever seen.
He was lazy as heck too.
Jo Jo is the pitcher I disliked the most even over Len Barker. And I did not like Bruce Sutter or Nick Esasky either.
Have a chance to squeak out the Falcons game Disgusted.. and the kick is good!
So mad right now. Can’t believe NO ONE outside the Peach state is picking this game up, and my internet up until RIGHT FREAKING NOW was broke! I hate my ISP!!
September 30th, 20124:22 pm
prolly will depend on who starts for the Cards
Falcons get an early Christmas gift…..Merry Christmas. Even gift wrapped it.
derek k: I agree with ya.
Well, the Falcons pull it out — gave me a near coronary but they did survive.
Still think Julio has underachieved but it was a great pass from Matt to Roddy.
Julio has to get better and the D has to stop people.
4-0 is good.
September 30th, 20124:24 pm
Hey TOBF — in the end they do pull it out a W is a W and they do deserve it.
At least the Falcons D is not as bad as the Georgia D — that really needs cleaning up.
Have to give Matty credit in spite of it not being his best individual game.
September 30th, 20124:25 pm
its only pointyball Disgusted, not worth getting upset over…..
September 30th, 20124:26 pm
Cory Gearrin has no business facing left handed hitters. He faced three in the 9th inning and they all reached base.
September 30th, 20124:27 pm
I tried to follow both games so I missed some action. From what I did see, though, hell of a game.
I like Gearrin, but he can’t really get LHH’s out, so, I’d just rather have pitchers that have a snowballs chance of getting lefties out.
Chipper probably don’t mind playing a few extra minutes at home but he probably wants this one to hurry up and end
September 30th, 20124:28 pm
I always like Kelly Johnson and his ability to get on base and hit for a little bit of power, but yes when he dropped that pop fly against the Phillies in June of 2008 it was a painful feeling. That did precipitate a tailspin for the Braves that season.
