I understand your point about the “mental” edge, but there have also been lots of teams in the last several years who have had TERRIBLE Septembers and went on to get hot in the playoffs and win it all (i.e. Cardinals of 2006…and other teams I can’t remember at the moment).
Plainly stated, just get in.
And if it does matter, then i’m glad the Braves have been playing well. Then again, it’s just one game. I hate this year’s WC round, and I hope there will be an UPROAR to the commissioner and it will be an established series as both of those teams deserve next year.

Bourn has gotten progressively more mediocre since the all star break. Not sure if he’s got anything left in the tank offensively. Fortunately, his hitting woes doesn’t seem to affect his D.

Constanza is not really getting it done.
DS-1 — He really isn’t but he is a guy fans root for. Career minor leaguer, not that bad a AAAA player & we do remember that spark he gave us last August. It was a first impression that stayed with some fans.
Has not done as much this yr — but he is a likable player. An underdog. and a good minor league hitter. Has speed.

yeah he has speed, but he can’t get on base enough to use it much, and he takes a lot of bad routes in the outfield which negates it on defense too.

So who is responsible for censoring comments that disagree with the “regs.?” I didn’t use profanity or anything close to that. I didn’t bring up politics, religion or question anyone’s heritage. All I did was disagree with some of the regular posters here…. but SOMEONE chose not to post my comments. Not just one, but multiple posts. Censor much AJC? So is this a social blog? A blog where if you disagree with the folks who are swapping recipes and mint julip ideas, you aren’t gonna get posted? What a joke!

There are certain words that have been abused in the past (otherwise innocent words) that are now caught in the moderation filter. Has nothing to do with being a regular or disagreeing with anyone. (although, a friendly comment, you may want to refrain from calling those that don’t agree with you stupid.)

Simple syrup (water and sugar – boil pristine mountain spring water and add ample sugar to taste) – mint leaves – really, really good bourbon, and ice made from the same water…mix in a sterling silver decanter…that’s all a Mint Julep requires…

Walker Percy’s Mint Julep recipe (from his Uncle Will):
“You need excellent bourbon whiskey; rye or Scotch will not do. Put half an inch of sugar in the bottom of the glass and merely dampen it with water. Next, very quickly—and here is the trick in the procedure—crush your ice, actually powder it—preferably in a towel with a wooden mallet, so quickly that it remains dry, and, slipping two sprigs of fresh mint against the inside of the glass, cram the ice in right to the brim, packing it with your hand. Finally, fill the glass, which apparently has no room left for anything else, with bourbon, the older the better, and grate a bit of nutmeg on the top. The glass will frost immediately. Then settle back in your chair for half an hour of cumulative bliss.”

I am sure you are DS-1, but I am sure that you have not even been offered to play in AAA too.
Constanza is a AAAA player, nothing more nothing less. We have had worse players around. Like underachieveers Damaso Garcia and Garrett Anderson. Jo Jo Reyes on the ptiching side Jo Jo is the worst P in Braves history.
Could not stand either one.

Moe – I once heard (on the radio) a recipe for Mint Juleps that used a much more involved explanation of what I excerpted, combined with parts of yours, and, at the end, said “pour everything down the sink and pour the bourbon in the glass”…

DS-1 — I guess we could keep it to the ATL Braves era.
My personal worst is a tie betweed Nick Esasky and Damaso Garcia.
Worst pitchers I would have to start with Jo Jo Reyes and Len Barker.
Bruce Sutter pretty bad sign too. HOF not with us, he was mostly a BUMB for us.
Most underachieved prospects are Pete Smith and Brad Kommisk.
Blaine Boyer and most of those Baby Braves were big busts.
And who can forget Joey “Grand Slam” Devine.
Horriffic pieces of ATL Braves history.
Also going to the old days how about shortstop wanna bees Craig Robinson and Pat Rockett — horriffic with a capital H.
And I did not like Andres Thomas — why did we not consider trading him for Barry Bonds (alleaged rumor around 1989).
Two mistakes Bobby made as a GM was to hold on to Murph too long and not move Andres THomas when he could have gotten something for him.
