And why not have high goals for a program of this stature, talent, recruiting ability and hype. That should be the goal to overcome Bama, LSU, USC, etc.

In keeping with the subject of this blog, Chip is using fractured logic. The BRAVES ARE NOT going to catch the Nats. So there is no sense in sounding like its a bad thing that the Nats are taking it to the Cards. The Braves ARE GOING to play the Cards! They need to hope the Nats destroy them and get the Cards questioning their invincibility. I would rather play a Cards team that is playing mediocre ball than a Cards team that is playing outstanding ball.

Give it up. Nats are the NL East champs. Beat the Cards then take it to the Nats.

Actually, the premise is pretty much the same. You ASSUME that because the Nats have a large lead, we have no chance at the division. Last year, everyone ASSUMED that because we had such a large lead, the Cards had no chance. Until the Nats clinch, we have a chance.

Also, how else is the team supposed to play these games?

CAB — I do not want to give up on taking the division though the way I see it is to get the rotation and team prepared to take the WC game and set it up for the long post season run (hope its a long post season run).

What I am looking for right now is seeing the guys playing the game the right way, the pitching staying sharp and hope to see overall improvement in situational hitting — and we are seeing big fundamental improvement in Uggla.

It would be something if Uggs is the man to carry us in post season — the reg season struggles will be forgiven and forgotten. I really hope he is the big man in post season and that Chipper gets his timely hits.

I’d like to see Chipper rest up a bit for now and be healthy and up for post season.
