Sales soar for Chipper jerseys and Braves gear

Chipper Jones’ last postseason drive has sent merchandise sales soaring with fans not just in Braves Country, but across the nation.

Jones’ No. 10 jersey was the top-seller across Major League Baseball in September and Braves gear had the largest increase in sales among MLB teams during the past week at Fanatics.com, an online retailer of licensed sports merchandise.

The Braves’ 40-year-old third baseman is retiring after the Braves are done playing this year, and the team clinched a postseason berth with a dramatic walk-off win Tuesday on Freddie Freeman’s two-run homer against Miami. Jones doubled to start that ninth-inning rally.

According to a Fanatics.com spokesman, 81 percent of its Braves merchandise sales in the past week were to customers outside Georgia.

The Braves had the highest increase in week-over-week MLB merchandise sales on Fanatics.com at 68 percent, ahead of two other postseason-bound teams, San Francisco (62 percent) and Cincinnati (61 percent). The Braves ranked third in overall sales for the week, behind San Francisco and the New York Yankees.

The Braves usually rank between fourth and seventh among MLB teams in annual merchandise sales at Fanatics.com.

Does this mean we’ll have enough money to sign Michael Bourn now?

I didn’t get the jersey, but i did order the retirement t-shirt, the Civil Rights Game hat and the hat with the american flag patch. Just my contribution to the “Bourn Fund” lol

BD, contrary to popular belief, you haven’t helped the Bourn Fund any more than you have the Hamilton Fund for the Rangers. All MLB merchandise sales are split equally among all the teams.

I wonder how those $99.99 Chipper bats that they advertise on the TV are selling, only making 5000 units. I ciphered up that to be pretty dang near, almost half a million $$$$$, unless I misciphered.

Seriously…why would you want anything with his name on it? The only thing Chipper has to offer as a future coach is 1) How to bed a Hooters Waitress. 2) How to take a “injury” such as a sprained toe, “sore” finger, or splinter, and turn it into a half season of riding the bench and collecting a pay check.

To his credit, Chipper said weeks ago that the Braves should take the money saved when he retires and pay Bourn. Chipper will go out as he played – with class. Total class. Simply do not see that as much any more.

I ran into reneck John Rocker at the Iron Maiden show at Lakewood in June 2012….and always remember his quote to Chris Rude of 96Rock back in 1999…..”Chip’s white trash.”

As it turns out by seeing Rocker all longhaired and flabby it turns out …he is the trash.

Thanks, Realist. Chipper was a good player, but he was always injured…… Does anyone remember his first illegitimate ‘black’ child?

I think I’ll get a #10 jersey for my oldest grandson.
Sure has been a lot more fun this season. The Phillies and Mets are in their proper place in the standings–well back; thus the order is somewhat restored in the NL East, except for the Gnats being ahead of the Braves. I am now officially over the hangover from last September.
……and like others on this forum, I sure would like to see Bourn back. As I said early in the season-I am a Bourn again Brave.

Realist, you are an idiot. You probably can’t bed a Hooters waitress or take part in any activity where a minor injury would keep you from doing it.
