Another single. 1 & 3 – 2 outs.
September 26th, 20129:49 pm
Great game. Let’s go Phillies!!!!
And nice crowd shot of Mixxo!
September 26th, 20129:50 pm
Four strike outs in the same inning is pretty cool.
29 out shutout. very rare.
Good to here from you McFann. You ol country girl.

“McFann you are missed”
I post the best screen-printing line in the history of screen-printing lines (in my unbiased opinion), and this is what gets a thank you? Wuss (lovingly).
So, if I’ve got it right, the Cards lose, we clinch the #1 spot, right? Currently they trail 2-0
Who was it that would say BARVES WIN!?
They just did it again….
You see me chief?
I get around!
September 26th, 20129:52 pm
“29 out shutout.”
Smoltz Recognition Night. You didn’t know?
Win Number 90 — and no way we will not be the top WC team, so that is good.
I think I can get over last September now — working on it anyway. Win the WC game and I think I can get over it for good.
I should have enjoyed this team more — its really been a great run with a good bunch of guys.
And PM will be back I am sure.
September 26th, 20129:53 pm
29 out shutout?
Did we goof two ks tonight?
Might be a first, if so.
End of 8th gnats 5 – 4.
Ghost of Chipper Jones
Wrong? I thought it funny as h***.
Oh, and we won. MAHOLM pitched shutout ball just as i thought he would this a.m., but six plus, not five.
September 26th, 20129:54 pm
PIRATES eliminated with the loss tonight?

@McFann….Hi, how you doing? Glad to see your post tonight.
Significant step forward with this victory tonight. Shows they can come back and bear down even after that huge emotional win just 24 hours ago. That’s what championship teams do. Hopefully it’s a sign of things to come this postseason.
September 26th, 20129:55 pm
Kimbrel’s command of all his pitches and being a power pitcher is unreal. Just a perfect closer. I can’t think of a flaw. Don’t forget how lucky we are to have him.
September 26th, 20129:56 pm
Because they are going to finish ahead of the Cards now, the playoff clincher seems more real.
And a win over them in the WC game will be the sweet revenge.
I almost would be happy to pass on the division cause I want the Cards in the WC game in Turnerr Field. I won’t complain about the division if they find a way to get it, but a WC W vs the Cards and a long postseason run (hope WS champ) is the story that I can take for a lifetime.
September 26th, 20129:57 pm
September 26th, 2012
They just did it again….
Better than BARFS WIN!
I can think of a flaw, but if we win on the 5th and kimbrel has a role in it, that flaw will be gone.
the one game wildcard playoff can make you a bit nervous but when you look and see the Stros 2 hitting the Cards ….. you can kinda feel a little better about it
September 26th, 20129:58 pm
“You don’t have any messages yet.”
LOL, Mix. Good sad face. I’m firmly this side of the no-smiley fence, but that was strong, brother.
September 26th, 20129:59 pm
If the CARDS lose, they’re seven back with seven to play.
Good night all…..
September 26th, 201210:00 pm
You have that right CTB on the 9:55 post.
He was supposed to have control issues but he worked on them in a hurry cause he has not really had bad controll issues at the MLB level.
He had a little slump in his rookie yr but even the best veteran closers of all time would be more than glad to take any of Kimbrel’s first 2 yrs.
Very good win, no letdown from last night. Now if PHILLS can do something in 9th.
September 26th, 201210:01 pm
No.1 wild card MAGIC # is down to 1.
With a cardinals’ loss, The braves will host the second wild card team.
Poor Pirate fans — looks like the streak is going to continue.
If I were a Pirate fan I’d say hey, we are not going to the postseason so why not keep the streak till we have a real signifigant year and get to post season.
September 26th, 201210:02 pm
“If the CARDS lose, they’re seven back with seven to play”
actually the Cards are off tomorrow, after today they only have 6 more games
September 26th, 201210:03 pm
Good to have McFann and Brava back on blog. Good night all.
So go Pirates and Astros!!! Maybe both teams will give us a little more help than they did last year.
September 26th, 201210:05 pm
I can’t send you a message if I don’t know your name!
September 26th, 201210:07 pm
Man I wan the DODGERS and BREWERS breathing down ST. LOUIS’ collectives when they play the NATS. Looking for a CARDS sweep while we finish a 12-0 run through the FISH and METS. 8-0 ho, ho, ho!. Makes me feel like Christmas.
September 26th, 201210:10 pm
Good night, George.
McFann :Ô: :Ô: :ô:
Thanks, y’all…MAYBE I won’t be such a stranger in the future…we shall see.
BAS I post the best screen-printing line in the history of screen-printing lines (in my unbiased opinion), and this is what gets a thank you? Wuss (lovingly).
I’m sorry!! I meant to acknowledge that one…was funny!…
September 26th, 201210:13 pm
… ‘tupid phillie
September 26th, 201210:14 pm
7-4 Nats now… Werth singles up the middle… just out of the reach of Rollins
NATS just plated two 7-4 top of the ninth two out
September 26th, 201210:16 pm
The Braves’ September pitching has been EXCELLENT! But as the Orioles slug 6 dingers tonight, I sit here and wish we had some of that.
I know that it was Josh Johnson, but four hits, 15 dingers, and a sub-.234 team BA.
Damned fillies!!! |:-(
Are you leaving us for twitter McFANN?
btw phillies, your ballpark sounds like crap when most of the fans are booing the batter instead of cheering for the K
September 26th, 201210:17 pm
September 26th, 201210:18 pm
Let’s shoot for a gNats Collapse in the bottom of the ninth!!!
But as the Orioles slug 6 dingers tonight, I sit here and wish we had some of that Miami
we could have had, one was McLouth who is pounding it in Baltimore
September 26th, 201210:19 pm
NATE didn’t fit in here.
September 26th, 201210:20 pm
Damned fillies, part 2!!!
8-4 … i’m done. Nats Magic # will be 4, Philly/Halladay better win tomorrow (and you too Hanson …..)
I would not blame McFann if she left, Mac has taken a terrible and undeserved pounding here for years. The obsessives who think that 15 or so pounds in a catcher is a big thing, are just plain idiopts.
Brave4life-1995 All over again
September 26th, 201210:21 pm
hit the 90 mark today
September 26th, 201210:24 pm
WILTON LOPEZ to the rescue. Two out runners at the corners, top of the 8tyh.
September 26th, 201210:25 pm
Kevin McAlpin @KevinMcAlpin
Eric O’Flaherty has now made 27 consecutive scoreless appearances since July 15th. #Braves
Kimbrel hit 99 a couple of times tonight, he really looked loose out there
September 26th, 201210:26 pm
And WILTON comes thru. Bottom of the 8th HOUSTON at bat. 2-0
September 26th, 201210:27 pm
I’d rather have 8 Paul Janish’s in a lineup than 1 nate mclouth hitting 8th.
September 26th, 201210:28 pm
+++The Pirates and the KC Royals have been hit the hardest with the financial way MLB has changed financially. Some of our greatest moments were vs. Pirates and Greorge Brett carried the Royals to over .500 for years.
“……..hit the 90 mark today…..”
On Sept 26th! It really is the HOTLANTA! Heh!
September 26th, 201210:30 pm
The fillies sukkk!!!
K.C. willing to pick my grandson in the top three rounds if he wants to go pro. That’s what they say at least.
September 26th, 201210:31 pm
Nats drop magic number to 4…. Let’s go Astros now!
September 26th, 201210:32 pm
Wow, congrats to him Ghost!
Well, other than the Phillies choking, it was a good night for Braves fans. Nytol.
Top of the ninth, 2-0 ‘STROHS pack.
September 26th, 201210:34 pm
Talks cheap. We’ll see when the time comes. Besides the BRAVES are still interested too.
September 26th, 201210:36 pm
Does it really matter if the Cardinals win or lose>
SHouldnt we only be concerned with the Nationals as of right now,
September 26th, 201210:37 pm
what makes you think McLouth is hitting 8th? He is leading off, has 10 stolen bases in 11 tries and has several game winning hits lately.
He was hurt most of the time he was here. I see no reason why he wouldn’t go back to being a 750 hitting outfielder with some steals
September 26th, 201210:39 pm
The closer the CARDS are to losing rthe second wild-card, the more pressure there is on them to sweep the NATS in their next series…see?
September 26th, 201210:42 pm
I think the Cards have it pretty much wrapped up. the other teams are probably going to lose a few games and that is all it takes at this point
September 26th, 201210:43 pm
miami drama queens
September 26th, 201210:46 pm
The Pirates were perennial contenders during the 70’s and 80’s. From birth, the Royals were always contending during the 70’s and 80’s. Cheap/incompetent ownership, mediocre player development, and cities that don’t scream “glam” to the modern FA ballplayer have decimated otherwise loyal fan bases.
September 26th, 201210:48 pm
Fox Fla/Marlins station covered that quite a bit last night’s broadcast, cricket.
Bell claimed that Ozzie wouldn’t tell him to his face what he thought.
I think that is pretty unlikely considering Ozzie’s history
September 26th, 201210:50 pm
September 26th, 201210:57 pm
I truly did not think this team could win 90 games this year. Truly remarkable.
September 26th, 201210:59 pm
Maholm was a little shaky to start but settled in and pitched a pretty fine game even if it was against a Stanton-less Fish team. Hope he can get back what he had earlier in Chicago.
September 26th, 201211:01 pm
I remember a lot of us thought 85-87 or so wins this spring. Doing so much better must be all Fredi’s great managing .
September 26th, 201211:09 pm
Certainly better bullpen management – not optimal – and much better starting pitching has made the diff. The hitting is either pretty much the same, or worse than last September.
September 26th, 201211:11 pm
we need a hitter without question.
September 26th, 201211:16 pm
postgame quotes are up
September 26th, 201211:23 pm
The hitting is either pretty much the same, or worse than last September.
About the same. Last year the Braves hit .235/.300/.357/.657 in Sept, this year they’re hitting .234/.306/.343/.649
Our pitching has been much improved, holding hitters to a .210 avg. compared to .260 last September
I cannot stand the fact that the first four games of the season are all that separate the Braves from first place in their division.
More than that, I hate the fact that if you possess any of the most basic, fundamental powers of perception you knew without a doubt those losses would set the Braves back in September.
The Nationals have every reason to make division winner T-shirts already.
They’ve been the baseball equivalent of a basket of blind puppies for decades yet have somehow become the gold standard for excellence in the span of a season.
They found what it takes to be great.
The Braves are no worse or better than anyone expected.
They deserved to celebrate last night, they win again tonight but the division talk can stop.
Too little too late.
It’s over. They lost. To the Nationals.
Tommy Hanson getting a start might as well be the white flag.
September 26th, 201211:26 pm
Jon Heyman @JonHeymanCBS
fun times for free-agent starters. #cubs say theyre in market. also kc, minn, bos, lad, laa, nyy, maybe mil, chiw, atl, det
Not good news as the Braves possibly pursue a SP
September 26th, 201211:31 pm
Nah, he’ll probably be fine for 5 (about 94 pitches), and then Fredi will go get him first time a runner gets on base. (that’s another thing Fredi has gotten smart about it… when Tommy reaches the 5th, put the short leash on him)

Dearest Carroll, First venture back in about 3 weeks–thanks to Nolie’s sound advice—-and here I’m confronted by an article stating that some kind of an assessment can be made about a MLB team based upon a game against a NOW minor league team playing without Stanton, Ramirez, Morrison, Bonafacio, Sanchez, Infante and probably a few more I have forgotten. To quote the police officer in “Bridesmaids” when our heroine calls her blank buddy to pick her up after accident–C’mon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nolie, Once again thanks for the wakeup call. I mean it.Hpe this doesn’t requalify me as an agent provacateur. I just think it was one of the most inane articles I’ve ever read. Medlen is exceptional enough, do not judge ANYTHING based upon a game or a series against the Miami Marlins of Jeffrey Loria and his stepson, inimitable Magic Midget, David Samson. Back in a week.

Who woulda thought? At least we have balance.
Call me a hater. I don’t care.
I got my playoff ticket. If they win, I’ll buy another.
That said, I refuse to pin my hopes of a division title on Juan Pierre’s defensive incompetence and the washed-up Phillies to do what the Braves themselves should have done.
90 wins. Really good.
Being beaten out by the Washington Nationals.
September 26th, 201211:39 pm
Maholm…..the guy doesn’t give much color in his commentary; I guess he’s still learning the ‘folksy, southern’ way.
I wish Chipper would refrain from letting a couple radio talk show clods get him in a twist…they say/do like they do for the reaction and after-show talk…..advertising pays their bills and that stupid talk just fills the air between commercial spots.
The Bourn thumb is now pushing electronic game buttons and will be appropriately ’stretched’ by first pitch tomorrow.
During the Post-Game Show, Fredi appeared ‘relieved’ or perhaps the Milk of Magnesia hit a home run, regardless Fredi never addressed the ongoing problem his team has leaving base runners hanging….and, to my knowledge, no member of the media asked about it……you can be assured this problematic component of our team will surface during the playoff engagements.
September 26th, 201211:52 pm
final gamer is up! ….Braves clinched home field in a potential wild card game Oct. 5, which I’m sure you know by now.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
