Any ideas on answer to the trivia question? Besides Chipper, which other Braves player has hit 200 HR in Atlanta?
Good baseball there in the 6th inning.
September 25th, 20128:46 pm
Both of Chipper’s fly balls looked like home runs.
For real though.

Screw the niners…..hate that bunch.
well, used to own the falcons…..you would hate em too if you had been on the other side of Montana all those years.
Game going and again, there’s a premium on runs
September 25th, 20128:48 pm
Outta here to watch game. Have a good one. BELIEVE IN THE MEDS. Nite all.
September 25th, 20128:49 pm
“Both of Chipper’s fly balls looked like home runs.
For real though.”
Gee this guy posting not for shock value. Thanks for the tremendous insight fella.
Literally in atlanta? Andruw or dale.
September 25th, 20128:50 pm
I used to hate the Packers because I despise Brett Favre…then he (finally for real) retired and I no longer hate them. Not among my favorite teams…
Bob Horner……blasted ‘em; however I didn’t see the question in it’s original context.
September 25th, 20128:53 pm
Murphy hit 205 in ATL total.
September 25th, 20128:54 pm
Chipper has 259 (and counting) in ATL
Niners used to just kill us….
Os extremely powerful dislike and digust.
Solano with 2HR in this game…. he’d never HR’d before
Why a 89 mph fastball up on an 0-2 pitch? Why? Too good of a pitch
September 25th, 20128:55 pm
Same thing started to happen to JJ. Medlen is much better but still.
I’m on delay but I already saw what happened ughs
“Solano with 2HR in this game…. he’d never HR’d before”
Happens alot against the Braves….
September 25th, 20128:57 pm
How do you allow two homeruns to Donovan Solono? That is some bad luck to allow the bloop directly before the bomb.
It was not supposed to be up. It was called low and off the plate. Meds just missed his spot (by about 18 inches)
Nice pitch call, Mac…..
Come on guys, let’s not screw up Meldeens team win streak.
I’m guessing Murph
September 25th, 20128:58 pm
Seriously, go back and look where he wanted that pitch. And look where Meds threw it.
well they came back and tied the last time Eovaldi pitched … need to come back and win tonight
“It was not supposed to be up. It was called low and off the plate. Meds just missed his spot (by about 18 inches)”
Regardless, go to the changeup (his best pitch) at his shins, if he hits it, it will be into the ground.
Lyle Overbay making contact at any point in the remainder of his career would be more surprising than that guy hitting his second career home run.
I actually had a feeling the guy was going to go deep.
I can’t explain why. It just felt right.
September 25th, 20128:59 pm
Let’s pick Medlen up here. Keep on rolling. Go Braves!
Wake up, bats.
Gil In Mechanicsville
Methinks Kris has been hanging with Tommy Hansen a little too much, perchance for giving up gopher balls are rubbing off on him
September 25th, 20129:00 pm
It was basically a throwaway pitch to see if he would swing on 0-2. He wasn’t going to do much with it if it had been in the proper location either
A young pitcher and a young 2B taking the Braves’ linch money.
Ghost of Chipper Jones
“…..I never knew until tonight thet it was [SOLANO] all the time.”…..GODFATHER I
Kevin McAlpin @KevinMcAlpin
How good has Kris Medlen been? Tonight marks the second time ALL SEASON he’s surrendered 3 runs (first as a starter) #Braves
cab: Agree that it’s Med’s “fault” for missing the spot, but I never really did like throwing fastballs 0-2, unless it’s overpowering like Kimbrels.
September 25th, 20129:01 pm
“It was basically a throwaway pitch to see if he would swing on 0-2. He wasn’t going to do much with it if it had been in the proper location either”
Can’t take that risk with him hitting a fastball out earlier that was bearing in on his hands that would have been a ball.
September 25th, 20129:02 pm
Please pinch run !!!!!!!
September 25th, 20129:03 pm
Um…could it be a certain Home-Run king we all know and love? He did play 9 years IN ATLANTA!
What an empty feeling it is to be watching the same game for what seems like four years in a row.
Simmons should be benched. Overbay again? come on man. this guy wil strike out
GTI in Brooklyn
September 25th, 20129:04 pm
You know, I think MEDLEN might actually be a better hitter than OVERBAY. Can they just have MEDLEN re-pinch hit for him?
I wish I could get a little excited when I hear “Fredi is going to his bench” but …. I just can’t
Can’t take that risk on a guy that has one home run all season? on a pitch that was supposed to be down and well off the plate?

With Nationals losing it is a sinking feeling to lose this game with your best pitcher out there. We could have cut the lead to 4 games with 8 left. However being 5 games out with 8 left is pretty much the end. If we dont win today then our division hopes are over 100 percent
Bats need to bail out their pitcher now…. we NEED that streak to continue!
Aaron …… Could be
September 25th, 20129:06 pm
If only the Braves could score some runs.
This is my fear in that one game thing. Medlen, as great as he’s been, can be taken to the woodshed by some unknown scrub with no career homeruns and boom – season down the toilet.
Actually, I see a good story brewing here. Heath Bell comes in to close the door, and gives up a 2-run walk-off to Chipper. We clinch the playoffs, and Bell has to walk back to the clubhouse, where Ozzie Guillen waits. Delicious.
what the hell tried to do Medlen with fastball over the plater with 0-2 ??? it’s a shame allow 2 hrs by a garbage player…..
i suppourt Smotlz…no medlen for WC game…… Hudson you are the man for WC game…at least you dont allow Hrs ….
September 25th, 20129:07 pm
“Can’t take that risk on a guy that has one home run all season? on a pitch that was supposed to be down and well off the plate?”
Im sure thats what they thought in the first at bat too haha. Got to make in game adjustments….
Not sure I agree with pinch running Constanza right here esp with runner on first because we will need Mac probably in the 9th inning with game on the line. If MAc was at 2nd then i could see reason to pinch run but not with runner on 1st and 2 outs. Mac’s at bat later would been far more important
Brian from SC
Veer, losing this game would decrease the Braves’ chances of winning the division by about 1%. The current probability is under 2%.
Phillies 6 – Nats 3
Jeff Baker and Lyle Overbay seemingly pinch hit for each other all the time.
September 25th, 20129:08 pm
Meds picked up the bats all year, time for the bats to pick up a bat!
Dude, it’s an anomaly. Stop panicking. Medlen’s mortal. His ERA might go up to like 0.95 or something.
September 25th, 20129:09 pm
Bottom line- hit your spot and it’s a single at most, more likely a ground out to first
No run scored and BMac’s out. Pinch-running with 2 outs didn’t help. Baker falls to 1-10 as a Braves.
WHY THE F IS BAKER WITH THE BALL CLUB? A REJECT FROM TIGERS
Baker….is cooking, right? Sigh! RISP
September 25th, 20129:10 pm
Worst bench in baseball. And by baseball I’m including the entire minor league system. Maybe High School.
Medlen pitched a phenomenal game. Credit the kid for hitting the only two mistakes he made out of the ballpark. Time to get some runs off of one of the worst bullpens in baseball.
The Braves have a chance to clinch at least a spot in a one game wild card.
They should be spirited and relaxed and just play confidently.
They look like they’re seeing the ghosts of the 1919 Black Sox on the other side of the field.
So indescribably frustrating and disappointing.
Thomas Boswell @ThomasBoswellWP
The whole N.L. East needs to take Donovan Solano to dinner and ask him how to hit Kris Medlen’s 89 mph fastball. Both HRs on same pitch.
Is DOGGIE II coming out for the 8th?
September 25th, 20129:11 pm
What makes you think the Braves aren’t relaxed, Mitchell? They seem to be taking it pretty easy to me.
Jeff Baker and Lyle Overbay have contributed nothing offensively.
September 25th, 20129:12 pm
You enjoy repeating yourself don’t u?
September 25th, 20129:13 pm
Ozzie looked good there because are bench stinks. Who the hell we going to put on playoff roster. I”d rather see Hudson pinchhit than are worthless bench. Why not have Ross bat instead of no hit Baker.
Let’s 1-2-3 this ho and score some runs.
No reason to put Overbay or Hinske or any left handed hitter on the post season roster. I bet it wil be Jeff Baker pinch hitting for power hitters like Overbay and Hinske.
Mac’s at bat will come probably during a clutch situation of the game adn we will have Ross strikeout or do nothing. We needed Mac’s bat.
Premature pinch running. If you had to pinch run why not when Simmons was up there. It would have allowed more time for Constanza to steal a base.
“T-Dawg: Worst bench in baseball.”
based on DOB’s Sep 21st column quote, “They’re also last in the majors in pinch-hitting average at .162″ … there’s no debating that
September 25th, 20129:14 pm
Never heard of Baker….all of a sudden he was sitting in our line-up….really we needed another useless bat?
Come on Braves! We need to pick this up for the Meddler!
September 25th, 20129:15 pm
Oh crap. Heath “Ding Dong” Bell will come in and pitch like Cy Young.
The Overbay / Baker experiment can be discontinued now.
medlen maybe only allow 3 runs…but he stinks tonight only because he allowed that HR’s by a garbage AAA player….he deserves to lose the game…..and now im not sure about him for WC game…
i think it’s Hudson the right man for that type of games…..
Well, you can’t say Wren didn’t try to fix his bench. No one has worked out yet.
Do we need to be reminded every game that this is CJ’s final season? I think most fans know this by now. I mean I love the guy too, but I’m not drooling at his feet and worshiping the ground he walks on either. He’s just a baseball player.
Maybe there’s hope we can lose out again, miss the playoffs and get rid of Fredi and Frank Wren.
It’s hard to know what would be better.
Get to the playoffs and lose in three to four games and spend the next five years averaging 86 wins or collapse completely (again) and fire everybody.
Tough, tough call.
Then again not really.
i suppourt Smotlz…no medlen for WC game…… Hudson you are the man for WC game…at least you dont allow Hrs
I guess since you aren’t a stathead or maybe don’t care to look them up, you don’t know this stuff, but since Medlen joined the rotation, he’d given up 3HR before tonight (so now 5 total). Hudson had given up 6 over that same time frame.
September 25th, 20129:16 pm
ChattTownBrian, I would recommend turning the TV off for the next few games if you feel that way. It’s not going to get any “better”. The vast majority of Braves fans will enjoy the coverage.
September 25th, 20129:17 pm
I think we all know the constant Chipper plugs are mostly, maybe all of it, due to making money. Plug, plug, plug. Money, money, money. Really all it’s about.
No, I’m just forced to.
September 25th, 20129:18 pm
Bench is an achilles heel this year for sure….
Need to beat up this bullpen. Save the streak!
Or, the Braves could go on a championship run and really upset folks like Mitchell. Here’s hoping!
Talk about fat boys…..bell….pathetic slob.
You’re joking, right?
September 25th, 20129:20 pm
ok ,, but how many games have Medlen in playoffs??? and how many have Hudson???…
i dont want to watch Medlen meltdown under pressure ,,,, Hudson have the experience and the guts for win important games
WHAT THE F IS REED JOHNSON DOING? CAN’T DO NOTHING.
REASON WHY HE IS CAREER BACK UP
CANTG EVEN RUN
Brian from SC, I enjoy the Chipper stuff like most other fans. That’s all I’m saying about that.
You know I’m just going tosay this–@Mitchell….the guy’s actively articulating some personal thoughts on the team and game….we probably need to have a bit more patience and less critical thought when analyzing and commenting back.
September 25th, 20129:21 pm
A preview of october 5th, this probably is….
Utter, numbing frustration.
September 25th, 20129:22 pm
Hudson over Medlen for WC GAME
Gosh, has the game been that frustrating? I think it’s been pretty fun to watch, myself. Well-pitched on both sides. It’s not like the Braves have played poorly.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
