Zimmerman, LaRoche, and Morse
Heyward, Jones and Freeman
Outside of starting pitching this is why the Nationals this is where the Nationals have a huge advantage. Uggs and McCann have been disappointing but our middle lineup guys don’t strike fear in pitchers.
Maybe next with J Hey and Freeman with another year under their belt and somebody to replace OLD hoss

“OPS+ of -58″
I don’t know nuttin’ about these newfangled stats, but -58 seems kinda bad.
September 21st, 20129:26 pm
Did Jason take some dope before the game tonight? He has swung at stuff way out of the strike zone (like not even close) all night.
Guaranteed sweep. If anyone wants to bet we can make it happen. Yes Kimbrell is Cy Young
I know it’s a long season but the Brave bats have to wake up. Is Bourn ever going to come out of this slump? They are striking out as a team way too much! Chipper is looking a tad bit tired. I would rest the starters as much as possible and let some reserves play. With a few more wins they should rap up a wild card spot and then it will be time to regroup! Let’s go boys
NO MORE FREDI
September 21st, 20129:27 pm
Said it a month ago… Hanson is negative energy. Hope the guy is not on postseason roster.
Yeh, but TH is a 1st round pick, and FW loves 1st round picks. Time to get an ice pack and a cold one!
Overbay and Hinske haven’t impressed this month… might both get left off the post-season roster
Breaking News-AP Wire
Overbay still sucks, but even worse.
Overbay…..Double, (Doo Blay); The Captain of Her Heart…..”couldn’t wait another day for, the Captain of her heart.” I’m Overbay, overbay, overbay….couldn’t get a hit to play now….I’m the Captain of The Fart!
No biggie winning the series but better take a game from this team. 3 back from the Cardinals and no way you want to see the Phillies in a play in game.
Hanson isn’t a first round pick….
September 21st, 20129:28 pm
Hinske hasn’t impressed this month? Hinske hasn’t done a thing since playoff game against SF. He was mediocre last season as well
Ghost of Chipper Jones

Hey, PHILLIE PHANATIC:
Give it up. Even if you sweep, and run the table you don’t nose out ST.LOUIS. Theyre gonna’ lose two more and that’s it. That’s as close as you guys get.
The Braves had a day off yesterday, and have Sheets and Delgado available, and yet Fredi is managing this game as if it’s Spring Training, and he’s trying to get everyone their innings!
Hinske=1,000,000……..=One (1) Homer
BMFT was a 22nd round pick. Nice to see Utley get his homer tonight.
September 21st, 20129:30 pm
Frankie: That’s true. He hasn’t been good since the 2nd half of 2010 actually, but yes, he’s been very poor since Opening Day 2011.
Who said HANSON was a 22nd round pick? Correct-a-mundo!

Right now who is the best team iin NL. All the injuries and there’s a reasonably good chance we’ll be playing you. Someone just changed their shorts
I don’t blame Avitarilan….he’s Etch-a-Sketching with Tommy’s lines
Sure hope there is a tie for the 2nd wild card game because the Braves will be traveling back from Pittsburgh on the last day of the season. We don’t travel all that well if you haven’t noticed.
What a feeling it must be … to see the fastball you threw with every ounce of your strength mercilessly crushed and rocketed into the seats.
September 21st, 20129:34 pm
I’m trying to understand why the Braves got Baker? He’s only batted six times since coming from the Tigers, he’s just sucking up salary.
Sorry TOBF, not picking on you. Team has won this month solely on pitching, offense is stagnant and showing no signs of improving. Manager has to have some stones and changed up to some degree,
September 21st, 20129:36 pm
“……Someone just changed their shorts……..”
Yeah, look down! Your shoes are wet.
I’m trying to understand why the Braves got Baker? He’s only batted six times since coming from the Tigers, he’s just taking up prime real estate on the bench.
September 21st, 20129:37 pm
Seems obvious Hanson would not have spot in playoff rotation unless one of other four gets hurt.
Well, he simply shouldn’t.
September 21st, 20129:38 pm
Animus—With September’s expanded rosters, is there really any prime real estate on the bench?
Tip, tip, tipping his pitches with that sucky hesitation of his.
Song by Keith 1967
September 21st, 20129:40 pm
@Animus…..We got the Baker to make bisquits and donuts—post season goodies!
Hate them, can’t stand their fans or the city. Still, every single Brave fan fears this team and lying if say otherwise. Brewers, Cardinals, Dodgers, whoever. Nobody wants to see the Phillies on October 5th. Like gum on your shoes, can’t get rid of them. Look pathetic the other night and Howard bails them out with improbable win. Better scratch and claw and win a game this weekend.
September 21st, 20129:41 pm
Three-man rotation and HANSON isn’t one.
Didn’t even want him starting in September. Someone on the blog did agree with me (can’t remember who exactly) Delgado should’ve gotten the opportunity, in my opinion. Hanson did okay for 3 starts, now he has another bad start. I’d give Delgado Tommy’s next start. See if we have anything there to put on the Post-season roster.
September 21st, 20129:42 pm
I recall Papelbon when he was with Red Sox; I really think he has more pop on his fastball now.
How about 9-10 pitchers on postseason roster and Hanson isn’t one… really gotta consider that
Fredi G has to play all of these games like the playoffs, because if he doesn’t there may not be any for the Braves. Hanson must be benched. If the Braves do make it into the playoffs and Medlen is not the starter, Fredi will have to go…away, very far away!
September 21st, 20129:44 pm
Why are these ‘extra’ players traveling with the team if they never get used? Got a couple of pitchers sitting in the BP who could use work and who MIGHT help the team – but we’ll never know.
OK Mac…no biggie….we’ll catch hell on another day brother!
It’d be only fitting for McCann to wiff.
I think we can all agree Hanson shouldn’t start another game this year and definitely not if we reach the playoffs. No way.
September 21st, 20129:45 pm
potentially bad new for the Cards (and Braves?) Clippard blows the saves and Brewers tie the game
I’d give Delgado Tommy’s next start.
I’d give Overbay Hanson’s next start… That’s how much I don’t want to see him pitch again.
You run Hanson up there to hit in the fifth? And we have a power guy on the pine? Francisco? He is in uni, right?????????????????????????????????????????????????????/
PHILLIES have to run the table to have a clue. St. LOUIS can lose two and still close them out.
Kevin McAlpin @KevinMcAlpin
#Braves fall to the Phils 6-2. WP: Kendrick (10-11) LP: Hanson (12-9). Hanson has now gone 7 straight starts w/out a win (0-4 w/3 ND)
September 21st, 20129:46 pm
Good coming back from a off day and play a crisp ballgame. Rest did them well.
I’m surly, little buzzed and tired so signing off but before I do,

Brewers up 3-2 on Nats runner on 3rd..
Brew Crew leads, 3-2. Man on third, one out top of the ninth. Axford warming up for the bottom of the inning.
Clippard is melting a little.
@ChattTwnBrian…..If you’re physically able, I’d rather you fart instead of Hanson!

Brew Crew leads, 3-2. Man on third, one out top of the ninth. Axford warming up for the bottom of the inning.
Which would mean something if we didn’t just get slapped around by a barely above .500 team.
But we did.
September 21st, 20129:51 pm
Bad throw to first pulls Laroche off the bag. Another Brewer run scores.
September 21st, 20129:52 pm
Other than Prado and to a lesser extent, Uggla, the entire Braves team sucked tonight.
Not a very inspiring efforts for the fans. And man, has Hanson gotten fat.
September 21st, 20129:53 pm
Brewers up 4-2
The good news is that the Cardinals got beat in shocking fashion by the Cubs. So, despite tonight’s loss to the Phillies, the Braves magic number for home field Wild Card is reduced to 6 with 11 games left to play. But, tonight was a squandered chance and squandered primarily because Hanson surrendered three gopher balls on two hanging curveballs and one grooved fastball. He’s lucky it wasn’t four as the leadoff hitter had the first hit of the game bouce off the top of the right centerfield wall!
The Brewers won last night and war winning tonight over the Nationals — which would be six straight wins for them if they do beat the Nats tonight. So, that would represent another chip off the National’s magic number over the Braves. The Brewers have also vaulted past the Dodgers for the team chasing the Cards for that second Wild Card berth, and they are just one game back in the loss column now.
The Braves cannot start Hanson again. Give Ben Sheets or Randall Delgado a chance!
September 21st, 20129:54 pm
seems to me the Braves will not lose anything if they give Teheran a start in Hanson’s next turn to get his feet wet and see what he’s got.
September 21st, 20129:56 pm
so this month, the Brewers have won series vs the top 2 teams in the wild card and now they have consecutive series against the top 2 teams in the NL (and leading the first game). I think the Braves could beat a “hot” Phillies team in a 1 gamer but I want no part of the Brewers

Davey Jonhson explaining his team’s success after clinching a playoff spot for the first time in Washington since 19(f*ing)33, “They played to their abilities.”
I don’t know if I’ve heard a more damning comment about the Braves in recent memory.
How many of the 2012 Atlanta Braves (or the 2009-2011 Braves for that matter) can that honestly be said about?
This team walks such a fine line between good and great but can never cross it… to save their freakin’ lives!
Winning the wild card game is just about the best anyone can hope for.
They’re not cut out to complete in October. Period.

Hanson: “as of right now, I’m not doing a very good job. I’m not pulling my weight around here right now” #Braves
September 21st, 201210:10 pm
“I think it’s stupid, to be honest with you,” he said. “But Major Lague Baseball wants a bunch of teams in the playoffs. There’s nothing like cut-throat baseball for the fans. And people love that 163rd regular-season game. They’ve loved it in the past. I’m sure that’s probably what’s promoted a second wild-card team. I wish they would’ve done it a year earlier so we would have had a chance last year. But it is what it is.”
What the hell. It probably is stupid, still not what I want to hear from my leader of a team. We’re at home and would be excited about playing fall baseball in front of a huge friday night crowd. Nope Debbie Downer comes up with this. Great player, Hall of Famer. Mediocre leader. Inspires so much confidence.
September 21st, 201210:11 pm
pretty sure the braves will not bring back Tommy 5.1.
several factors involved i believe.

“I feel like I’m battling my [rear] off trying to help my team win, and I’m not doing a very good job,” said Hanson, who is 0-4 with a 5.06 ERA in his past seven starts. “Today was a horse[bleep] day. I’m not pulling my weight around he

nats lose. any kind of pitching and managing, we would be 4.5 back ! it just stupid how fredi just throw game after game away like 1 day old trash !

@Ken Stallings…Re:9:53….”The Braves cannot start Hanson again.”
I agree and thanks for speaking pragmatically to this point, tonight has been a ’silly-billy’ night for me. However, and in the most sincere terms, I really do not foresee it possible he can turn this poor performance habit around in the near future.
Again, thanks Ken….for being the voice of reason this evening.
September 21st, 201210:19 pm
but i betcha hanson gets another start !!
September 21st, 201210:20 pm
Grab a Philly beef and a couple of Rolling Rocks, you’ll be fine Tommy.
Would have had to shutout your opponent regardless to give your team a chance to win the game.
September 21st, 201210:23 pm
all you can ask of your pitcer is a quality start. he wasnt did that since june !!
a quality start is 3 runs or less….
September 21st, 201210:28 pm
Unfortunately, I have to agree with everything Hanson said. I don’t have any malice for the man, and certainly nothing personal against him. But, he’s being paid a very handsome income to perform a special skill that he is simply not performing. And given the stakes involved there is simply no reasonable choice except to try another pitcher.
The Brewers did win their game tonight versus the Nationals. The Brewers are among the hottest teams in the NL at this time and have won six straight games. So, perhaps the sweep we suffered against them just reflects what they have done to others.
The magic number is again 6 against the Cards and 5 against the Brewers. The odds go down for the other teams from there: Dodgers 4, Phillies 3, Pirates & Diamondbacks 2. No other team even has a mathematical chance to catch the Braves.
I couldn’t read georgie’s 8:17 without laughing. I mean, seriously. That’s funny stuff.
Wait, you were kidding, right?
Hanson can start any meaningless game the Braves find themselves playing until the end of the season. Then maybe he needs some work at Gwinnett next season.
September 21st, 201210:31 pm
been maybe one real offensive jailbreak lately the sept. 8th 17 hit game.
heyward, chipper, and freeman are each hitting .239 or less over the last 30 days.

Hanson on whether couple of the homers would’ve been out at other ballparks:
“I don’t know. I mean, I pitched here and they went out. I stink. Both those pitches caught too much of the plate. And they didn’t just hit it in the gap or hit it hard for a single, they put it in the seats for the most part.”
shi… make that of the entire national league. truly one of the all-time greats. seemed to have really enjoyed his phillies pregame tribute.
