Seems obvious Hanson would not have spot in playoff rotation unless one of other four gets hurt.

I would hope so. But I would also think there was no reason to let him hit last inning either….especially when you have guys who need to pitch.

I’ll tell you one thing about tonight’s game. If the Braves lose tonight, they will get swept this weekend. And then the Phillies will really beat themselves up about the 3 outta 4 they just lost to the Astros. That series hurt them bad.

@Busch Leaguer — Daniel Bard fell way off the charts this yr. He was ineffective late last yr too, but maybe with Roger Mc Dowell Roger could help him & that could be a potentially great deal or ATL.
Bard has to get out of that mess. I think we would win that if it were Hanson for Bard straight up.
Roger is a good PC. Boston does not have a real PC now.
Hanson could not handle Boston but that would be their problem.

So Efrim? Shoot the messenger much?
Doesn’t matter if someone uses fifty names or one, doesn’t change the fact the Hanson is stinking it up. Or is Hanson’s performance and value actually depend on who is stating the obvious?
And BTW. I’m posting tonight as the Dart Thrower only. I know it’s hard to believe that more than one person here would think that Hanson is stinking it up.

Trouble with Hanson is his lack of desire rubs off on the rest of the team. Braves are just going through the motions on offense .Get this one over ASAP and come back tomorrow ,Braves need to bounce back and at least avoid getting swept.A Phillies sweep makes a Braves -Phillies play in game a real possibility.

So, Fredi, you dipstick, what did you accomplish by hitting Hanson in the 5th? You gave the team an automatic out, and let Hanson put another base runner on third, with less than 2 outs. Fredi. If there is a decision to be made you’ll make the wrong one. Hey Hanson’s 6th inning run scored! Are you suprised, Fredi? If you are, you’re the only one.
I’m bettin’, in 5 days, you’ll run’ol Gopher Ball Tommy out there again. But that’s how you manage. Brain dead has always been your style…and you do manage to run “brain Dead” out there, every day.

Game’s not ven over and we are near 1000 posts about this game.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different outcome!
Ladies and gentlemen, with respect to throwing Tommy Hanson on the mound every fifth game, we have officially reached the point of insanity! Hanson is finished as a starting pitcher. His ERA has ballooned to well over 5, and his average innings pitched since the All-Star break is barely above the same number! The team is winless in all of his post-All-Star starts as he’s been stuck on the pedestrian 12 wins since then.
Hanson’s performance again tonight is more of the same unacceptable poor quality. He surrenders a gopher ball on a pitch breaking right down the middle of the plate and almost immediately puts his team behind. A total of five runs were surrendered over just 5.1 innings pitched, which works out to just under an ERA of 9. When a starting pitcher’s ERA is over 5, he is officially sub-standard. When it gets over 6 then it is time to release him.
Frankly, I would give Ben Sheets a chance and see if we can still tailor the rotation to have Medlen pitch the Wild Card game. What worse can Sheets do compared to Hanson’s actual performance? And then, after this season is over, Hanson should get his release. If some other team wants to take the chance and reclaim and salvage his career, then fine, best of luck!
Bottomline, Hanson is the anti-Medlen — a walking guaranteed team loss! He’s also a bullpen killer, guaranteeing the bullpen will have to pitch at least 4 full innings (likely more) for every start he makes! I’ve seen enough and frankly don’t want to see Hanson toe the rubber in a Braves uniform ever again!

Was hoping for a rook to take Tommy’s spot at the beginning of September, then he started pitching well. However, like Jurrjens, I wanted to see him keep it up. He was sub-par in his last few starts, though they were improvements. Tonight wasn’t good at all. Definitely shouldn’t be starting a playoff game, maybe not even pitching! If we can trade him for anything this season, do it.
And a run! Yay.
