We might win a one game WC playoff but to win in the post season in an extended series, I do not think we are good enough.
Not enough offensive consistency and no way U put Hanson in the post season rotation for sure.
But, its better than what I thought we would do. I did predict a 79 to 82 win yr, so it has been a good year.
No way we lose the top WC spot not this yr.
And Home Run Tommy strikes again. Very BUMB.
I’d rather have Delgado get another chance.
This is one post I am being half serious.

Hanson missed his location by about 4 inches on that pitch – wow, he just has poor control. But, he does give up some nice HR’s – and another as I type this. BP time
Get Sheets up
#2 request…Fredi get off your @ss NOW
Hanson should buy stock in BP as in batting practice pitcher.
September 21st, 20128:09 pm
My concern is, like any other playoff team is that we may have to rely on Hanson in a big game. I used to love the way he pitched in his first year and part of his second. But he has become very predictable and doesn’t seem to be able to take command of the game. Do you guys thinks the Braves management has noticed? Will they use him in a big game?
@Bat…..I’m not ready for bed yet
Would you trade Tommy Hanson for Dominec Brown??????
I don;t know if Philly would have interest but just throwing it out there.
September 21st, 20128:10 pm
Hanson has got to be the worst pitcher we got…and Gonazalez to leave him in there is just stupid!
Hanson is a worthless piece of dung!
Enough batting practice, they don’t need it. Tommy should be done for the year!
September 21st, 20128:11 pm
Ryan: Who do you see them beating? The Braves have the fourth best record in baseball.
DOB, why would you even ask that? “Hudson or Medlen in WC game”? Just trying to stir up trouble aren’t you? Anybody with half a brain knows the logical answer to that. I know, I know, that leaves FG out, but seriously how many times have we seen Hudson give up big leads this year? I remember two distinctly. How many times has Medlen even come close? 0, zilch, nota, none, nil
Since Bud Selig says you have to win one game to get into the playoffs, no matter what you did during the year, that’s the way it is. As CJ said before the game, “It’s STUPID!”
I would trade Tommy for a piece of lent and a bobbin head doll and feel like I won the trade.
@Bronke……If they used Livan Hernandez….yes, Hanson remains a vital link[in their mindz]
Still no space for Sheets
No sense wasting the BP on this game, just let Tommy throw until he lands on tn DL.
Like I said Hanson would give up two more as all Brave fans know but Fredi is to stupid to see it. Please give Delgado another chance I like to see Hanson never to pitch again for the Braves. Please leave him off the playoff roster.
September 21st, 20128:12 pm
Not sure why no one in the Braves organization cant see that Tommy Hanson is done! These starts would be perfect for someone like Delgado or Tehrun! Hanson is a wasted start and the Braves will never win anything with Hanson on the mound! His pitches are soft and predictable.
Just checking in to see who was winning the Tommy Hanson pitching-line contest?
I think its time to shut him down for the year. Innings limit or he sucks limit.
Homer Hanson strikes again. He should never pitch another game for the braves. Of course everyone in atlanta knew this except fredidiot.
Never mind, Capt. Hanson’s got this now.
September 21st, 20128:13 pm
Phillies have 4 hits: 1 triple, 3 homers
S/O to Disgusted and Mixxo
September 21st, 20128:14 pm
If Hanson is on this team next year I’m giving up as a fan. He clearly can’t be effective anymore because of his lost velocity on the fastball.
Tommy Hanson was overhyped and after a good rookie yr he has not done much except give us inconsistency, injuries and disappointment.
He is the equivalent of Kari Lehtonen of Thrashers floppery.
What a THROWER.
Home run HANSON.
He is a JOKE
Agree with all. Hanson has lost it. He needs a whole pitching over haul and I don’t know if he is humble enough to accept it!
I guess the moniker Tommy “two homer” Hanson needs to be changed.
Hanson just gives in to much. He is the weakest link in the rotation leave him off the playoff roster if the Braves get past play in game. Hanson pitches dispassionately ,like he does’nt give a crap whether the team wins or loses. Two years in a row he has folded his tent in the second half of the season. The Braves ought to give him the Strasburgh treatment and shut him down in August.
Bay Area Steve
“I would trade Tommy for a piece of lent and a bobbin head doll and feel like I won the trade.”
Even with the mistakes, and even though I don’t think Hanson has fallen that far, that’s a great line.
September 21st, 20128:15 pm
Oh yeah let thisPOS hit.
Would someone please tell me why they brought up Delgado and Teheran, neither has pitched and both are better than Hanson???????????????????
Fredi is not stupid but I do thinnk he has to step up and make the right decision on Hanson who just is not a very good pitcher.
He has been mostly terrible in the second half.
Move The Dart Thrower
At least Tommy proved he can serve up the fastball AND the breaking ball for homers.
Why is Tommy still in the game?!?! Put Sheets in, at least see how he looks
September 21st, 20128:16 pm
Something tells me Hanson will have to work on tweeking his delivery or arm action thing and lose some weight and if they see he isn’t will work on dealing him for something.
Tommy bats and goes back out for more.
Tommy’s competitive nature rivals Smoltzie.
Beer and wings in the Philly area taste the same win or lose.
Does anyone in braves management see that homer Hanson cannot pitch? I guess not
I’m just joining in but the box score tells me that Hanson and Homer are still closely linked. Does that about sum it up?
And what’s the story on Sheets?
Hanson has fallen that far. He really has and I hope they get rid of him by any means necessary this off season.
He is not even an AAAA caliber pitcher now.
September 21st, 20128:17 pm
Fredi has confidence in him Bronke….see?
Fredi and Hanson need to be taken out of the game. No way he should allow Hanson to bat.
So it appears ACE has been booted, so it seems sure I will be the next to go in DOB’s purge of the blog. I went back and read all of ACE’s comments last evening. HE DID NOTHING to deserve banning. He did have a back and forth with nolie, but was NOT disrespectful of him. ACE said cabravesfan was a lady [and she is] but ACE seems to be gone a without a doubt I WILL BE NEXT in the purge. Like ACE I have done NOTHING to deserve the boot, but DOB seems to have thin skin when it comes to comments about his work habits. As I said this morning I have met a lot of good people here and it has been entertaining and informitive. I will continue to read the blog because of the good folks on it even if DOB WILL NOT LET ME SPEAK. If this is my last post goodbye all and DO IT BRAVES.
Bourne back to his strikeout mode
I never would of thought that Kyle Kendrick would become a better pitcher than Tommy Hanson.
OMG Bourn is a strikeout machine.
September 21st, 20128:18 pm
Tommy “Millwood” Hanson. Almost identical in Kevin’s early years. Same demeanor, expressions, attitude, etc. Does he have any emotions at all? Good grief, even Tom Glavine showed a little life ever now and then!
I hope they get rid of him, too, Disgusted. But, I think we’ll get more than a “bobbin head doll.”
Hanson blows and the hitters are swinging at everything..fun game.
Please, please, please resign Bourn!!
Lol….Hanson’s going out there for another inning. With all the pitching we have in the bullpen….would love to have seen Sheets.
Guys, it’s very early but you heard what Bozo the Clown Carey said nobody wants to play the Phillies right now. Do you realize last night they set a record ifor the only team to ever score 8 or more in the 1st and 6 in the 9th. Not boasting as I realize it’s early and the Braves could still win but we need these you don’t. You’re in we’re not. Cut us some slack.I’ll bet Bourne whiffs. Let’s see. Yep he whiffed.
Ralph — That is a great question and no one knows?????? Are they living on his prospect hype of 3 yrs ago — that is long in the past.
September 21st, 20128:19 pm
ACE WAS NOT BANNED
Fredi is managing this critical game like Aunt Beatrice….a.k.a., Ain’t Bee
I like how Joe Simpson starts trying to make it sound better. Tommy got two strikes on Mabry, throws one 4 inches off the plate and Joe starts crying like it was a strike and bragging on what a great pitch Tommy made. This after the 3 Mammos off Tommy.
It’s like what if Simpson started bragging on Tommy like, ” Tommy just walked out to the mound after that inning and didn’t even fall down on the trip out! What a talent this kid is!”
your’re second coming to Ted Williams better start squaring up on the ball a little more consistently. Heyward far from being a elite player that we all want him to be it seems.
I disagree. For his age 22 year old season after what occurred last year, this is wonderful progress. He’s had a great year, and a miserable last 23 games. Hopefully he can bounce back and finish up strong.
Lance – does the box score show the Phillies are slugging 1.000 for the game so far?
September 21st, 20128:20 pm
Efrim, it’s sad about Hanson, but I’m not surprised by the turn of events. Always had a weird feeling about him with that weird delivery and arm angle thing he has. He always looked on the verge of blowing up, but hasn’t really consistently until this year.
I don’t like to keep hating on Fruti, but it is cases like tonight that makes me keep doing it, Fire that moron now!
There is always a silver lining to everything. The silver lining to Hanson is that none of us have to worry about Boras shopping him to another club for big bucks and leaving us with basically nothing. Just a year ago, we were all lamenting the fact that we had no chance to keep either him or Jurrjens. Now, who cares? I wish we would release both of them right now.
Does Scott Boras still represent Hanson?Well he can’t pick winners every time,he will be lucky to get a 1 year contract for the minimum next year.
smallmouth6 I dont because are offense will not show up. Great game as Hanson cant keep ball in ball park and Constanza cant hit a ball out of infield. Wonder what Constanza would do if he faced Hanson. Fredi great job again let Hanson bat you must want Phils to win as they are going to hit another home run and then you bring your fat ass out to take him out. Hear your quotes after game he did great job if you take away his homerun balls.
Hi cabravesfan….I know, but he was Ace Bandaged
bourn is gonna strike out 165 maybe 170 times this year…..wow. he’s also might catch uggla
Why have Teheran, Sheets, and Delgado on the roster if you’re never going to use them? Hanson obviously has nothing tonight, but Fredi will keep running him out there until the game is out of reach, then he’ll bring in Christian Martinez to give up 5 more runs.
September 21st, 20128:21 pm
S/O to the Capt.
Not the way I wanted to start this series off.
Hanson is uh…not very good.
September 21st, 20128:22 pm
I think the hardest part of Being the manager is confrontation. I don’t think Fredi G is capable of doing that. This and in game poor management has been his downfall this year. But despite it all the Braves are a winning team. Miracles do happen
I think trading Hanson makes a lot of sense. Has for a while.
If you take JJ, and add Derek Lowe, you get Tommy Hanson. The guy is total toast. There is a reason why Gopher Ball Tommy hasn’t won a ball game since July. The guy is worthless. Totally worthless. Good ‘ol brain dead Fredi, still lets Gopher ball Tommy hit in the 5th. Fredi Bozo wants to be sure the Braves can’t come back. The Braves have a herd of pitchers in the bull pen, and yet Fredi “runs him back out there”, and wastes another at bat. What an idiot.
September 21st, 20128:23 pm
TH looks like he’s aiming a dart. He has no clue where anything will end up. But he’s pitching in the middle of a playoff run for a MLB team.
Our comments regarding Hanson have fallen on deaf ears for months. He telegraphs his pitches- tied for 4th in most home runs – lets everyone steal bases on him. He is worthless – we would get noting for him in a trade. He should not be on the Playoff roster. Next year I’ll probably shift my allegiance to the Nationals – at least they seem to be motivated – and have better management.
Sambo 4 Rambo
There was a day when i remember tommy hitting mid 90’s on the radar and then throwing a nasty curve right after another. Now hes lucky to hit 91, his curve is predictable and has not near the break it had (howard just showed you that). Not to mention my grandmother could steal a bag off of him. Its truely disheartning and gut wrenching to watch my beloved, playoff bound Bravos throw this fire crotch every five days when we have “flame thrower teheran” chillin. Just sayin, I would rather see a young future throw biscuits down the middle rather than this washed veteran that even the whole team looks depressed when he goes out to the mound…..
Get that no pitching SOB out of there
Hanson walks the pitcher…
Fruti has already chawked this game up as a “hat tipper”, cant wait for the quotes, Tommy pitched pretty good bla bla bla.
BAS — We might get a struggling prospect but that is better than nothing.
I would do Hanson for Dominec Brown but I don’t know if Philly would bite on that.
I would rather get an everyday player than another struggling ex prospect pitcher.
Position players as a rule have a better chance as getting it together — bust prospect pitchers are what they are — bust prospects (generally speaking)
Saying “wow” just doesn’t capture how bad Hanson is.
September 21st, 20128:24 pm
“he’s also might catch uggla”
before tonight, Uggla had 10 Ks this month. Bourn has 20, he’ll no doubt catch/pass uggla at his current pace
Seriously, why is Fredi staying with Tommy? He shouldn’t be in any post season rotation and won’t be unless someone dies. He’s a fifth starter at best now. Fredi has enough arms with the expanded roster to get Tommy out now. It’s a three run game. A couple of bad ones and it’s totally out of reach.
Fredi. Tommy is no help for the rest of 2012. Worry about getting his confidence back in 2013, not now. Better yet, let another team help him get his confidence back next year.
September 21st, 20128:25 pm
It’s really sad that a few come on here under other names and continue to bash players. A shame.
Is Sheets or Delgado being held out of games for any particular reason?
Joe Simpson – he’s had bad command of the fastball all year long, not just tonight. And one of those “great” curves ended up in the outfield stands.
September 21st, 20128:26 pm
Animus – not sure I got that stat specifically but it seemed to indicate that if Hanson threw it toward the plate someone served it over an outfield wall. And to my amazement it appears that we are going to continue to run Hanson out there and risking whiplash from following the fast turn-a-round the ball does when Hanson pitches it.
You could package Hanson and Jurrjens in a deal and maybe get another teams fifth starter or llast man off the bench.Maybe work a deal with the Red Sox for Daniel Bard and another warm body in AAA.
Don’t worry you only have 3 Cy Youngs going tomorrow and Sunday. Problem is Kendrick’s record against Braves is 7-1. Key inning start of 6th. With Prado Heyward,Jones. This is the game.
