No Boos for Chipper? Heck they even booed Santa
September 21st, 20126:57 pm
Love John Smoltz but can’t agree with his thinking about setting up our pitching for the league series. What sense does it make to set up for a series that you aren’t able to get into? I say play them one at a time, and in this case that 1st game is more important than it’s ever been in the history of playoff baseball. Start Medlen; worry about tomorrow, tomorrow.
September 21st, 20126:58 pm
Fredi has been listening to Smoltz and decided that Medlen will not even be on the roster
September 21st, 20127:02 pm
Actually, I heard he’s calling up Julio Teheran to start the play-in game.
September 21st, 20127:05 pm
Play ball y’all
September 21st, 20127:10 pm
Chipper discusses play-in game and memories of facing the Phillies, including fans who nearly tipped over Braves bus
Atta boy, Mikey
September 21st, 20127:15 pm
There are the boos. Well at least they were classy and didn’t while they did the presentation.
Ah, it’s been a long time since I’ve been on the blog.
Anybody seen Nick recently? I wanted to ask him how much money he made betting on the Braves finishing the season 72-90.
September 21st, 20127:16 pm
Not pleased with the Heyward effort….but he’s still young; those change ups will find him many more times before he’s finished…..Chipper getting some action from the Friday Philly Peanut Gallery.
Dang. Thought we might get something in the first.
September 21st, 20127:17 pm
It must be all ghetto in Philly because most all of them seem to act like thugs. Even the middle aged woman. LOL
September 21st, 20127:19 pm
Has Hanson pitched one game this year where was totally in control.
September 21st, 20127:20 pm
Okay, tommy, be the man
September 21st, 20127:22 pm
September 21st, 20127:23 pm
Lucky that din’t go out. But crap they’ve got a 1-run lead already.
September 21st, 20127:24 pm
Just like clockwork…Hanson goofs up early–never gets off to a positive start, Hanson ball equals being behind by one tothree runs in the first or second inning and I personally don’t understand because traditionally he does relatively well thereafter………:(

We shoulda made a play for Chase Headley earlier this year when I was pushing for it. Some folks were saying he wasn’t that good…………
September 21st, 20127:26 pm
Lets get Greinke to go with Medlen,Minor, Hudson and Delgado/ Tehenran and get rid of Hanson and Maholm.
Hanson sucks! That is all.
September 21st, 20127:27 pm
Hanson already looks discouraged. To me that’s not good for a pitcher so early in a game and he looks that way a lot.
Chipper Jones is 3 hits shy of tying Roberto Alomar for 5th on all-time switch-hitter list (2,724)
September 21st, 20127:28 pm
All Kendrick does is throw 2 seamers that are hardly ever strikes, but the Braves can’t lay off them.
September 21st, 20127:29 pm
I predict a dp
September 21st, 20127:30 pm
There are players you move or give up on that kind of scare you that they will some day find something and come back to haunt you.
Tommy is not one of those players. His velocity isn’t going to increase with his mechanics. His mechanics are so bad one day his arm will fall off. His mechanics are also going to prevent him from being any better than he is now. This is as good as it gets with Tommy. He is a right handed Chuck James who is waiting to have arm and/or shoulder surgery.
DOB, does Hanson have a different attitude that you’ve noticed this year compared to the past? He just always seems to look mad and depressed on tv.
September 21st, 20127:31 pm
Philly – you were close, there was a double, and I liked the play. Hope the RISP gets raised here
That’ll work, Danno
Come on, Heap
You got the “double” part correct………
@ChatTowntBrian………Philly is not all Ghetto and I understand your tongue in cheek remark; by and large there are some real ignorant jack wagons there–no question; just like everywhere….Center City Has some questionable safety issues; however I have always enjoyed Philadelphia and, know where several splendid places are there to eat and be entertained—I’d rather be in NY though.
September 21st, 20127:33 pm
Uggla takes ‘em rght out of it in swift fashion??????
September 21st, 20127:34 pm
Well, at least we got the run back. Now if Hanson can settle down and not give them anymore . . .
That was a disappointing effort after a promising start, but at least a run scored.
Will there ever be a time when Dan Uggla doesn’t get thrown out at 3rd or Home?
Nice double anyways!
Dp meant dumb play. What in the world is he doing running on a ball back to the pitcher. I hate to,say this but that baseball sized tobacco wad is as redneck as it comes and he was
Popeye and Bluto did pretty good that inning except that Popeye just screwed up.
September 21st, 20127:36 pm
Yhea josey, B/Mac does look like Bluto!
Poor Canstanza with the infield in he dosent have a chance to get a hit.If he was on my little league team I”m sorry his ass would be on the bench.
September 21st, 20127:37 pm
I don’t like Tommy Hanson cause he isa BUMB.
He is a lousy pitcher.
He stinks bad.
He deserves to be Booed.
He needs to be released. He can’t win and will never never win another game again.
September 21st, 20127:38 pm
I love how everybody that plays for the Braves, a southern team, is a redneck.
So folks, your gonna have Uggla stay at third with Hanson coming up to bat with 2 outs??? Make them make a play on you……….
Your chances of him scoring is much greater to have him run than to have him wait for Hanson to get a hit.
That submit comment button stinks and deserves to be Booed.
The rest of the blog is fine, but what is it with that submit comment button.
It stinks bad.
September 21st, 20127:40 pm
@Philly Phanatic…..If you have issues with Rednecks….Take it elsewhere; inappropriate term.
September 21st, 20127:41 pm
For those who missed it yesterday MLB has posted portions of the Braves Caught Looking episode that aired yesterday http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?topic_id=9991168&content_id=24893183
A few Bowman and Jeff Schultz made appearances in interviews, Carroll was in one clubhouse shot and a portion of David’s head when they showed a clubhouse interview, but no full DOB or Carroll interviews. MLB clearly did not have a grasp on who the better interviewees would be
Kimbrel’s picture – That is an extreme inverted W if I ever saw one. Apparently that’s not a problem for him.
Here’s the deal. Right now Hanson and Maholm are 4th and 5th starters. I’d say they are pretty OK choices for those 2 slots.
But I also wouldn’t be surprised to see Hanson moved this winter either.
At some point we’ve got to either deal Teheran and Delgado or give them a real chance to shine.
Come on Bourn! You dumb redneck!
September 21st, 20127:43 pm
ChattTownBrian – Come on Bourn! You dumb redneck!
And Heyward, Prado, and Constanza!
Alright! Come on Prado you stupid ass Venezuelan hick!
September 21st, 20127:45 pm
Chipper does not deserve to be Booed but Santa did cause he is nothing but an old fake.
Whoever invented Santa Claus desreves to be Booed.
It teaches kids its okay to believe a lie.
You love your kids so why lie to them. I am stiil mad that I was lied to about Santa and I had great parents, they just made a mistake God Bless their souls.
Heyward’s OBP down to .339, OPS under .830.
September 21st, 20127:46 pm
I feel like I should take 5 secs and proof read my comments before I hit submit . Grammatical errors.. sigh. Or I’ll assume it’s just a blog comment and having typos or grammatical errors should be overlooked… oh wait .. not on this DOB blog since everyone is a critic about everything lol.
September 21st, 20127:47 pm
Maybe we should Boo Heyward and that will get the BUMB going.
Same with Bourn.
Do you think Bourn sees dollar bills blowing in the wind every time he strikes out?
September 21st, 20127:48 pm
Dissing on Santa huh?
And you’re probably going to say that there is no “Great Pumpkin” huh…..
Don’t rain on my parade buddy!
September 21st, 20127:49 pm
Chipper made an out — that is very very BUMB.
Why cant Bourn and Prado ever get a hit in the same inning?
I think Chipper has given all an old man can give this year, he looks completely done.
September 21st, 20127:50 pm
Ok I’m getting on board….I am a covert Redneck too
Disgusted, oh Santa Claus is just a fairytale and it’s a case that a lie is only a lie if you keep it lie. Eventually most parents tell their kids he’s fiction or they find out eventually. Why am I arguing this??
There is no great pumpkn.

September 21st, 20127:51 pm
This lineup is so damn pedestrian. Get Prado batting 5th so he can drive alleys and move Freeman to cleanup. Chipper can single his way all game batting behind Bourn. Make some changes. Winning games but not because of this current lineup day in and day out.
September 21st, 20127:52 pm
Hanson is just awful.
Pretty soon Hanson is gonna be ALL curvy pitches because his fastball usually misses or gets hit hard. He’s almost there now.
It’s time for this Tommy experiment to end.
CTB – I found out aout it and am still diaappointed about it.
And Tommy Hanson was our Ace that was not 2 B and I am disappointed in that BUMB.
Home Run Tommy — I hope they non tender him this off season cause Hanson is finished.
September 21st, 20127:53 pm
The Hanson experiment has been a four year flop.
September 21st, 20127:54 pm
Homerun Hanson strikes again. It just seems like whenever the Braves tie the game or get a lead, he just can’t keep it.
Efrim- your’re second coming to Ted Williams better start squaring up on the ball a little more consistently. Heyward far from being a elite player that we all want him to be it seems.
Truthfully now, how many of you already knew that the Braves have very slim chance of winning every time that Hanson starts? Does any one know the last time he has won a game?
Flat, mediocre, fastballs travel a long way when the bat meets them.
September 21st, 20127:55 pm
If I get reincarnated I hope to get the right arm of Tommy Hansonin the next world cause that has been one underachieved arm in this lifetime.
Braves notes: Simmons might play Sat., but Janish out 2-4 weeks; Medlen or Hudson for WC game?
Disgusted, you’re just being silly. Silly ass rabbit.
September 21st, 20127:56 pm
I didn’t think that was really a bad pitch. Had the plate but was at the bottom of the zone.
Hanson should be traded after this season.
September 21st, 20127:57 pm
I don’t think he has won a game since July.
September 21st, 20127:58 pm
I know CTB, I am being silly and facetious. Just having a little fun that is all.
Nothing serious intended as usual.
September 21st, 20127:59 pm
Hanson’s not going anywhere. They love him here….and on the blog.
And Roger never goes out there and tells Hanson to get his @ss in gear….nothing, free pass to get 89 mph fastball smoked….an unadulterated travesty….what kind of coach does that?
Frandsen HR and Pierre almost you know they should hit a couple more. We have home run Hanson and home run Maholm like I said earlier get rid of them two bums as we should send them packing along with JJ. Were nuts if we pick up Maholms option same with Hanson go to arb with him to see him get more is nuts.Hope we do good in playoffs but its going to be hard in one game.
Hanson won his 12th game on 30 July – since then, six starts, 3 losses. Not anything to brag about for BMFT.
September 21st, 20128:01 pm
Disgusted, oh okay.
But…the Braves won the three starts Hanson made since 30 July that he didn’t take the loss in. (silver lining)
Dont see us beating Cards,Brewers, Phils or Dodgers in a one game playoff
September 21st, 20128:02 pm
This offense should be one on the most feared offenses in the league, I just don’t understand why/how they lay so many eggs.
I forgot Disgusted is cool. Can be hard with his name being what it is. My bad.
September 21st, 20128:03 pm
One run here, another couple innings later. Maybe Uggla squares up and hits one with a guy on. Do we have big innings? Back to back doubles, putting a couple up on the scoreboard. This GD lineup is not going to get it done. Make some freaking changes with two week period you have, not a heckuva lot of pressure to win games. Get it done.
September 21st, 20128:05 pm
“Dont see us beating Cards,Brewers, Phils or Dodgers in a one game playoff”
That’s a load of BS. One game yes. Winning a NLDS with lineup current as is probably not.
September 21st, 20128:06 pm
Why not? This year the Braves have pretty one sided records against the Cards and Phils (in the Braves favor) and are even with the Brewers and Dodgers. No reason to think they can’t beat any of those teams.
Fredi get off your @ss
