May as well go with Venters now. He probably has as good a chance as anyone in the pen to get out of it.

Venters was effectively wild to Peterson and Ruggiano. I believe only one of his pitches was in the strike zone.

At least when JV loses the game (which he has done a lot) he feel ready bad.
When?
I like Gearrin alot, but still a bit wary.

2 huge strikeouts by Venters there. I am somewhat surprised he was taken out after those two K’s

One loss is not worth losing Janish at this point.
Or even a win if they’re extremely lucky.

Risky move putting Venters in that 9th inning tie game. Even riskier pulling him after 2 straight K’s/
And pulling Venters for Gearrin??

Fredi definitely showing confidence in Gearrin and Avilan here late in the season. I wouldn’t mind having both those two plus one experienced RH in the pen next year with Kimbrel, O’Flaherty, Venters, Martinez as the other 4.

It just goes to show, if the players make plays, the manager looks like a genius. If players don’t make plays, the manager is a dunce.
Fredi made all the right moves in that inning.

If the Braves get a run here and Kimbrel closes it out, the bottom of the tenth might be extremely anti-climatic, compared to that ninth inning.

Putting Gearrin in was the right call – tip your cap to Fredi – now if the heart of the order can score a run – it’s a no brainer who comes in for the bottom of the inning

Brian didn’t have to do what he did to keep the inning going.
A single would have been nearly as effective.
The clutch hit was the one with the go ahead run in scoring position.
The clutch hit was the one we didn’t get.

I think that if Gearrin makes the ‘pen next year, Martinez can go Efrim. He’s 30 and still has a not so great ERA and oppo. stat line.
Hope Janish is okay, but it might open up a door for Pastornicky on the PS roster. Not the way I wanted him to get on though.
