I was really rooting for a walk from Uggla right there… got the line foul / lazy can of corn combo instead.

Ross is hurting. These swings are hackish.

Agree, Freeman needs to change his approach and take those bad 1st pitches, they know he is going to swing so they always give him something he can’t hit therefore he is always in the hole 0-1. Same goes for Prado, he never swings at the 1st pitch so they always throw one right down the pipe so he too is always in the hole 0-1 but he is good enough hitter to make up for it but he could be better if he would swing now and then at the 1st pitch.

“It would be demoralizing for us to lose with our ace aganist their 5th starter”

You mean like in 1998 when the braves 5th starter, Kevin Millwood won 17 games? Or in 1997 when their 4th starter Denny Neagle won 20 games?

The Nats are deep. We are not.

Detwiler had a 3.42 ERA in his 23 starts coming into tonight. Kris Medlen wasn’t even in the rotation for 2 months.

In mid-september, doesn’t the “Ace/5th starter” crap kinda go out the window.

the Nats are closing in on having a 10 game lead on the Braves. Demoralizing is getting swept by the Brewers and watching your manager leave a starting pitcher on the mound to give up 8 runs in an inning.

Losing to the best team in the NL is not demoralizing imo.

Yeah, if I remember correctly, he said recently that his oblique is a little tight. The only healthy catcher we have is Boscan, who can’t hit. :(

Ross is hurting. Why is he playing? LHP or not, he can’t swing right now. McCann is a way better choice. Big series ya know, Fredi.

We save that for getting swept by the Brewers. At least here we have an excuse. I mean, they are the best team in the NL.

Why cant Bourn or tonight Johnson and Prado ever hit in the same inning.Harper going to be a Braves killer for years .It nice to see young guys able to hit yet are 13mil player sucks. Are bench has to be hands down the worst in baseball. They say Ross could be a starter on some team hell he would be a 200 hitter.

Three straight years watching this team not hit to end the season. You just have to make some changes in the offseason. Lots of potential in Heyward and Freeman but I beginning to think we might be better off trading one of them. It would take some serious talent though.

I don’t know if you trade kids that young.

I’d find a team like LA, LAA or Detroit and just see if they would take Uggla for free.

Learn from the Hawks and Red Sox.

Yeah, I think it’s just that they are both lefties. Both seem to struggle with the same types of pitchers. It’s a gamble but I just think the Braves problems have stemmed from the fact that we have too many of the same type of hitters.
