I still think it is hitting coach or the fact that the MLB players think they are too good for a hitting coach to help.. They should hire Tommy Gregg, hitting coach for AAA KC, to bring then out next year. He is a guy that really understands the swing and as a player was successful… Bring in Tommy.

I don’t know what to think about the 20 consecutive win (by team) in starts streak. At some level, it seems a little made up. Then again, when the only guys ahead of you have names like Lefty Grove, you might be doing something kind of special.

but we have the same warped sense of humor. plus i have really good hooks at almost every decent golf course in atlanta except Peachtree.
two hundred and fifty members there and not one under 60.
they played the walker 1989 walker cup there.
franklin langham a georgia friend was on that team with Lefty.

an absolutely realistic trade that (shocker) improves all three teams
RAYS get – mccann (need help at catcher and offense)
BLUE JAYS get – young pitchers from rays (blue jays need young pitching and the rays have it in droves)
BRAVES get – jp arencibia (jays top prospect is a catcher and are said to be looking to move him for pitching)

The Washington Nationals and Atlanta Braves may well meet again next month, with the stakes higher, the pressure thicker and the air colder. For those who have not watched a team from Washington in a playoff baseball game in 79 years, Friday night offered a preview. The starting pitchers dueled, the managers played chess and 41,797 tomahawk-chopping souls jammed into Turner Field. The calendar said September. The field screamed October.
The Nationals will remain in firm control of the National League East no matter what transpires this weekend. But the Braves’ walk-off, 2-1 victory Friday night still gave the Nationals something to think about, even before Andrelton Simmons slid home and shortstop Ian Desmond’s wayward, desperate throw home bounded to the backstop.

kinda somewhat lucky davey brought them all in.

Salty is still an 89OPS+ hitter too. Tailed off a lot this season after a strong start. I just don’t think either of those guys are what they would try to replace Mac with, and I have no desire to watch another career 230 hitter please….

I agree that they might try to trade Mac, though I think a deal is unlikely, but I think they would want a lot more than that. I think he’ll be back next year, after that he might be gone unless he has a good season and agrees to a home discount…which he might do. never can tell fur shur of course

Not sure where all the trade McCann talk has come from, but short of a major surgery (and probably then anyway), his option will be picked up. He and Heyward are the new faces of the Braves with Chipper leaving.
I’d be totally shocked if the Braves dealt Mac or refuse to pick up his option.

Over half the WS winners in the past dozen or so years have NOT been the best team in the majors or even in their respective leagues. Sometimes the best teams (or top 3-4) wins.
But over half the times in recent history it is the team that gets hot down the stretch and continues thru the playoffs. Kinda like our 19-5 run from July 18th on past mid August when we were pitching well and hitting a ton.
So what he’s sayin is “there IS a chance” for the Braves…….

Now, I didn’t say anything about 2014 with Mac. He’s gotta get back his hitting stroke or get healthy for things not to change drastically then. (or see his potential salary decrease in his later years)

There was an afternoon TV show for the kids in the ATL in the 50’s called and hosted by “Miss Boo”. It came on right before Howdy Doody, and then it was the Officer Don Clubhouse live in ATL.
The only other person that might remember that would be Journalist Jimmy Smith, and I don’t think he reads the blog anymore.
Useless trivia, kinda like Honey Boo Boo.

I was at the game tonight – right next to Gnats dugout and good ole Jason Werth sure cracked tonight, on the crowd. He walked off the field baby stepping; he was Literally the last person off the field (including staff, security etc) and when he reached the dugout I watched him “get into it” with some fans in the stands. Coaches had to pull him away…hahaha – Douche.

that’s a bit harsh Kel. It’s not like that has been a usual thing. Anybody can have a terrible season, Chipper hit 249 FCS, but Mac’s problem could mostly be injury related.

And in their last 10 starts, Huddy is 6-2 with a 3.61 ERA and Hanson is 3-3 with a 5.57 ERA.
Just goes to show who’s getting the run support.
And of course Medlen is 7-0 with an 0.82 ERA………
Maholm is 3-4 with a 4.28 since joining the Braves.
