Chipper gets bratwurst from the Brewers

Milwaukee – When a reporter from the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel asked Chipper Jones at the All-Star game what he’d like as a retirement gift from the Brewers, he said without hesitation: “bratwurst.”

He was serious. Tom Haudricourt relayed word to the Brewers, who had Ryan Braun, former Brewers player and current special assistant Craig Counsell and the famed “Racing Sausages” present Jones with a gas grill and a year’s supply of Klement’s sausages before Wednesday’s series finale.

Jones wore a huge grin throughout the presentation. This is a gift he’ll enjoy sharing with his four sons.

“I love them,” Jones said. “We all do.”

I think ol’ Hoss may require a few cases of Miller to wash those down.

I think we’ll need a final recap of all of Chipper’s parting gifts at the end of the season. All of the gifts seem to be a pretty fitting end to a great career that’s specific to the respective location.

He should have asked for his team to not look like a bunch of pathetic choking losers.2-0 lead and they screw it up again. Not surprising at all, this team couldn’t play good baseball at such a crucial time if theirs, and their families lives depended on it. Good players, just a bunch of chokers when it matters most. About to get swept by a team who WAS under .500 when they started this series. If a team wants to get on the right track, just play the Braves in Sept and that will be easily accomplished. I am going to laugh big time when this team misses the playoffs, and they only have themselves to blame.

7-2 now. Screw this team, I am done with them. They are useless in every sense of the word. Hope they are not complete choking losers in their normal lives. Money can’t solve all lives problems. You may be rich, but you guys sure don’t deserve to be. If screwing your job up every night, and looking pathetic in the process is worthy of being rich, I would rather have self respect and be poor. Your season is done chumps, congrats, you have choked for the second consecutive season in a row. Good luck selling those playoff tickets, let us know how that works out for you. Not they give up a rbi double to their pitcher, way to cap off a pathetic night, wouldn’t expect anything less from you losers.

Please add another sterling chapter to El Foldo 2012. * runs in an inning. WOW. What chance do we fans have? TReally the manager keeps trotting out the leadoff man hitting .228 in the second half. Cmon! This is insanity!
You keep doing the same thing over and over again nad expect a different result!
Just like last year. Derek Lowe 0-5 in september with an ERA of 8.75. Afrer the third start sit the guy down.
OK so your not gonna sign Bourn good. But for Christ sakes sit him down! Don’t let him kill the season. Make some changes! Then he and Boras can have a little chat as they ponder his future as he sits on the bench.
Another El_Foldo just like last year. Come September and some opposition the Braves fold up like a cheap suit.
The Fightin Phils are gonna take the Wild Card right from then just like an adult takes something from a child.
They’ll be up here in Philly from the 21t thru the 23 I have my tix. It’s gonna be like a wake for the Braves.
You’ll see

Same team, different year, same results!!! Quit hitting last September and fired the hitting coach. Quit hitting this September and what? Fire the hitting coach again. HOW about firing the manager and GM. How about firing 2/3ds of this stinking, NO account team. Sorriest bunch of suppose to be ball players I have ever seen. Bourn wants $15 million a year!!! I would not give him 5 cents. When they needed him, he folded. The rest of the sorry bunch are just that, sorry. MAN, AM I GLAD FOOTBALL SEASON IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go SEC!!! Go Green Bay!!!! Go Falcons!!!! Go anybody BUT THE SORRY, LOSING ATLANTA BRAVES!!!! I am through even looking at the stinkin scores. Good bye Sorry Braves!!!

Fredi will say Danny played well. 0-3 and down to .214. At the end of the season, it is time for Danny, Fredi, and Frank to go together.

Alex is right. Why not let the young guns, Teheran and Delgado get some work after Maholm gives up 7? They couldn’t do any worse.

Man…I’m normally a glass half-empty kind of guy, but from reading some of the comments above I suddenly feel like Zig Ziglar.

It’s not that bad, fellas. Yet…..

Csonka, it is hard to be positive with this bunch. When they hit, they don’t field or pitch; when they pitch, they don’t field or hit. Freeman and Chipper dropped everything it seemed. Don’t know what is wrong with FF in the field, but something is.

The one constant is Uggla. Can’t hit, throw, or field. Looks like he is just trying to not strike out, and the ball is not going far. Still struck out once tonight and could have been called out on strikes the last time, but ump felt sorry for him.

I hear ya, Lee. I’m definitely not drinking the Kool-Aid. In fact, a buddy nicknamed me “Doom” years ago because of my less than sunny view of our local sports teams. But living here for 48 years will to that to a person.

The more I think about it, you’re probably right. Based on last year’s el foldo and the early September returns, this team’s backbone is apparently manufactured by Nerf.

We ARE doomed!

The biggest problem with this bunch is they are just not that bright which is why you see poor fundamentals year after year in the field. As Col. Foghorn Leghorn used to say: “those boys are about as sharp as a pound of wet leather.”

What a bunch of crybabies!! This is the most mercurial bunch of fans I have ever seen…probably because most of you were not born in ATL and now reside here clogging our roads and flooding our blogs with your below average baseball knowledge. Most of you should stick to video games and fantasy sports as that seems to be the caliber of your sports experience. As far as the Braves go they have had a tough series here, but fortunately so have most of the other teams that are in the race–just about all of them have lost 3 straight with the exception of tonight’s opponent and the Phils both of which are too far back (the Phils still have 6 against the Nats).

Chipper got bratwurst and the rest of the Braves got “wurstbat” awards. They all had holes in them.

The Braves are put together for a long regular season journey. Come the playoffs usually 1 of 2 things happen. They become complacent or they fold. Fire Gonzalez, Fire Wren, and have a fire sale because outside of our pitching we need some hitters that can actually hit. Start over…

Just tired of seeing what I think may be a replay of last season. It’s frustrating to watch them and a waste of time. I’ve been a fan since 1972 so I’ve seen some pretty crappy years. Seen some real good ones, too. However, even in the good years, the teams generally underachieved and were taken out of the playoffs with te exception of one World Series where they closed the deal.

Well, you’ve got to tip your cap to those Brewers. Braves couldn’t beat a triple A team right now. A big stinko they all should get paid based on their performance. They wouldn’t make minimum wage. Fredi just sits there and watches like a spectator. He might as well be at home watching it on TV same difference. He really hasn’t a clue. Get Bourn to bunt twice a game. Ever try a squeeze with bases loaded nobody out, no runs again. REALLY Just swing for the fence every time your up. GREAT FRICKEN JOB FREDI tip your cap to not making the playoffs again. Watch them on TV from home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
