Since September 3rd, (9 games ago), Michael Bourn is 4 for 35 w/10 K’s and ZERO runs scored.
10 Ks!!! Give that man 18mil…
Was this guy not available an hour ago?
September 12th, 201210:43 pm
I shouldn’t have to point this out to all of you simpletons but I called this train wreck a long time ago. Maybe now you understand why. Fredi can’t manage. Chipper can’t play. Nobody seems interested in coaching Hanson, Freeman, McCann, and Uggla out of their slumps. You’re all just a bunch of sheep for thinking this group of Fredi’s misfits would do anything. Next time you might think about listening to someone who actually knows what they’re talking about. Braves are toast until Fredi and Chipper are history.
Bourn is fading just like last September. Maybe if they keep him they start him in the bullpen to save him some innings next season.
Last 7 games, Bourn hitting .179/.258/.214/.472, Chipper – .167/.286/.167/.452, BMac .250/.249/.542/.811, Freeman .100/.308/.100/.408.
the Ghost of Chipper Jones
Remember we need to sweep all nine games against the METS at home, and the six against the FISH to make it. Five more of nine against the NATS, PHILLIES and PIRATES would be nice.
September 12th, 201210:44 pm
Give him a rest. Uggla and others improved after a rest. Even tonight Freeman had 2 hits after a day off. However, I think Bourn needs a longer rest. A 162 game schedule is brutal on the body. Fredi seems to have learned that for pitching this year, having used O’Flaherty, Venters, and Kimbrel less this year after last year’s collapse and it seems to have paid off in good pitching in September most nights. However, he hasn’t seemed to learn that the same applies to the regular position players.
No way in hell Braun gets the MVP.

The collapse: The Sequel
September 12th, 201210:46 pm
Nite, Ghost. Hope your wife is doing better.
September 12th, 201210:47 pm
Wow, Nate McClouth got the game winning hit for Baltimore tonight!
Phillies win 7th in row..
Former Brave Nate Mc Clod just had a walk off hit for the Orioles off another former Brave Kyle Farnsworthless.
see ya next year
How about looking forward to next year? I would say forget Bourn, Uggla, McCann, Hanson, JJ, and all the old guys they picked up cheap like Batista. Lose Hinske and Diaz for good. Try Francisco at 3rd, Simmons at SS, Prado at 2nd. Keep Freeman and Heyward, Johnson in LF. Give Constanza a shot. Use Ross and Boscan. Medlen, Minor, Hudson. Dump or trade Maholm. Give some minor league guys a chance for some backup. Get a bat and pitcher. Maybe trade Venters.
Lose the entire coaching staff, and possibly the GM.
September 12th, 201210:48 pm
Got to see Nate in Norfolk when the Orioles sent him down.
it’s dejavu(braves in mid 80’s) all over again.
long way from minnesota to atlanta…although much closer to st. louis
The A Bomb
Braves look absolutely worn out — extremely surprising since Gonzalez schedules days off like a retail manager.
No reason for Bourn to be playing tonight. A couple of days off would do wonders for his legs.
Nate McLouth is doing quite well for Baltimore… I wish the Braves had given him a deal after the Pirates cut him. I wanted them to. He’s a decent platoon/backup OF
September 12th, 201210:49 pm
September 12th, 2012
Yeah whatever Fido. Like to dish it out but cant take it.
September 12th, 201210:51 pm
How long will Fredi keep his slump buster on the bench? Georgie Constanza is waiting Fredi? Fredi ? What are you waiting for a 10 game slide?
September 12th, 201210:52 pm
Classy stuff, Brewers fans.
Busch Leaguer: Constanza ain’t gonna help much
September 12th, 201210:53 pm
Yes Nate’s hitting a cool 230..would fit right back in with Braves.
Come on, man… you coulda let Chipper have the hit. It’s only his last AB in Milwaukee!
September 12th, 201210:54 pm
I’m not trying to be overly partisan political….Just pointing out that while we just got swept in Milwaukee some of our Ambassadors, our soldiers and our embassy staff were dying across the globe…..
So let’s not forget those fighting for their and our lives instead of baseball games….I’m not giving up watching baseball and my Braves, but for sure the outcome in MLB is down the priority list…..
Chipper talked yesterday about the 9-11 game our Braves played eleven years ago….so I don’t think it is a stretch to take a hard look at this latest 9-11 fiasco….
Go Braves here…………and GO BRAVE SOLDIERS OVER THERE !!!
September 12th, 201210:55 pm
Nate’s hitting .274/.348/.419/.767 over 133 PAs for Baltimore
Ok outta here.
Remember one thing. There are different opinions. Don’t come here making grand statements about your opinion and not expect people who disagree to respond. As with usual from your side, you like to spew the bile but you don’t want to hear a different view. And you generally don’t like the truth either. It goes against your manufactured view of reality.
@TOBF,Just making the point for whatever reason ,the Braves have around a .600 winning percentage when lil Georgie starts.
September 12th, 201210:56 pm
Love to see Roenicke — the king of the shifts — put all 8 guys to the left of 2B.
September 12th, 201210:57 pm
Well Bat – the braves exploded for your 2 runs. Unfortunately they played the fifth inning as well
September 12th, 201210:58 pm
Uggla with a GREAT AB!
September 12th, 201210:59 pm
Another walk to pad the precious OBP of you Virus lovers.
He is such a cluster.
Uggla with a meaningless walk.
Dan Uggla….potential game coda….minus flatulence…folks he walked.
September 12th, 201211:00 pm
9 more walks like that and the Braves win!
10:48 is the truth..spin it anyway you like.
I guess The Broom has cornered the market on the truth and everything else is manufactured reality. I’m honored the blog was graced by the presence of such an omnipotent being.
September 12th, 201211:01 pm
Here comes the rally!
The streakiness of this team is unbelievable. Sweep and the get swept
Err, maybe not. Hinske’s up.
September 12th, 201211:02 pm
Uggla and McCann starting a 2 out rally……
September 12th, 201211:03 pm
I knew someone had one brewing…vs. Brew Crew……Just a poo….luz yoo!!!
September 12th, 201211:04 pm
3-3 road trip! YEAH!
Crap. Well, that series is over. We’ll sweep the Nats in ATL. Brewers getting close in WC chase, Greinke would’ve been a great help to them!
September 12th, 201211:05 pm
September 12th, 201211:06 pm
good series Brewers, you did upon the Braves as they did upon the Mets and that’s how you’re suppose to play the game
September 12th, 201211:07 pm
A Bomb – agree with you on the braves looking exhausted, flat, etc. no excuse for it though. Keep this up and I cannot see fredi managing the braves next year
.500 road trip…. can’t complain. We were pretty “lucky” in NY.
September 12th, 201211:09 pm
“We’ll sweep the Nats in ATL” TheOnlyBravesFan
Need to find a coach that can tell Fredi when to pull his starters… I know you might want your veteran starter to fight and get thru 5, but he was done even before the HR…
Your 2012 Atlanta Braves…CHOKE TWO, THE SEQUEL
September 12th, 201211:10 pm
Brava, agree with your 11:00PM 100%. A couple of posters lost all credibility tonight, as if they had any to begin with.
The only Braves fan who believes!
I would not mind seeing a change in leadership in the clubhouse
And mclouth got a walk off winning hit …okokok not the right time
September 12th, 201211:11 pm
….big difference in our folks dying and our sports team losing…..
That isn’t political that is fact….Chipper said yesterday that the game against the Mets
was his most memorable game of his 20 years….
So just pointing out here that as sick as another Braves collapse may make us……….let’s remember the real battle and real “scuffle” is for life and death….that makes it easier for me to put the game tonight in perspective…..
September 12th, 201211:13 pm
Ben Ingram @IngramRadio
This is actually the first time the #Braves have been swept on the road since May 21-24 at Cincinnati.
A couple of posters lost all credibility tonight, as if they had any to begin with.
You talking about yourself and some of the others who are like-minded, bud?
Gant smells a choke as well.
September 12th, 201211:15 pm
Lot to look forward to next season when 2 of our top 3 hitters for avg. will be gone. Talk about low scoring.
September 12th, 201211:17 pm
When will heyward getting his 20 20. Did his legs dry up?;
I mean, I know Fredi ain’t the smartest, most strategic manager you’ll find, but come on now. He isn’t out there botching baseballs, watching fastball after fastball go right by him, getting rattled like a little leaguer when something goes wrong on the mound, and on and on. He gets under this fans skin too, but there’s only so much the guy can do.
September 12th, 201211:19 pm
All Het Up
Dum and the rest never had any credibility to begin with, just a boxcar load of negative crap.
And Reed got how many PA’s in the series? Seriously, that is what annoys me about Fredi. Reed is a solid bat out there that we definitely needed. Maholm wet his pants tonight, but games one and two he could’ve helped.
September 12th, 201211:20 pm
McLouth is hitting .274 .348 .419 .767 109 for the Orioles Yogi, try to keep up
September 12th, 201211:24 pm
Agree with brava at 11pm. I also like being able to say I support usnavy
^^^That, esp. the 2nd part!
Good night folks, don’t jump off any bridges or disparage the team. We’ll be fine.
Go Braves. Peace.
September 12th, 201211:25 pm
one extra base hit all series and it came on 3-0 cripple pitch.
one RBI all series and it came on that same pitch.
Agree ctb reed should have been in there at least one game
September 12th, 201211:26 pm
That was directed at All Het Up btw. Nite all.
Some teams can give a Greinke away and still handle their biz.
September 12th, 201211:34 pm
Prometheus wasn’t great but it had to have been a better watch than that game
September 12th, 201211:35 pm
The man….the game….the explaining experiment…..the tipping of the cap to the opponent….oh my mental health…..it comes, it goes……the skipper; Fredi.
September 12th, 201211:36 pm
Count – they did not just give away Greinke……they got a very good package for a rental
September 12th, 201211:39 pm
did that package beat us tonight? even worse then
September 12th, 201211:40 pm
Two years in a row that Bourn has tired at the end of the season, and some want to give him a 5 to 7 year contract. There’s one born everyday.
September 12th, 201211:41 pm
I miss Beachy
September 12th, 201211:44 pm
Thank you, brian, and I also support usnavy and agree with the truth.
September 12th, 201211:46 pm
when its sleepy time down south…
September 12th, 201211:48 pm
John Leonard, I personally would like to see Bourn back next season if we can get him without breaking the bank. Since he has an established track record of fading in the second half, maybe he will need more time off in the first half to help keep him fresh. He has played in 142 games this season.
September 12th, 201211:52 pm
Okay, I’m going to hit the hay now.
A good night to all.
September 12th, 201211:53 pm
Brava:Seeing what we had in the past, I can see your point, but what would you pay him?I would not pay him more than 8 a year for 3 years, and you know Boras will get him more.
September 12th, 201211:57 pm
yeah, even now Bourn is likely still looking at almost twice that money and perhaps twice the years John
September 12th, 201211:58 pm
they seem to like him though so if he falls to 15m per 5 years or so they might spring that much
September 13th, 201212:02 am
Agree nolie, but not on my dime.
September 13th, 201212:06 am
ARIZONA 3 FORT KNOX 2 FINAL
NL is really weak.
September 13th, 201212:09 am
Nolie, My once every 2 weeks comment. Isn’t it very Skip Carayesque to still be needing to “sweep 3 to win the division”, it’s bad enough that he is only in a broadcast booth outside of Billings or Yakima, however, when he makes comments like that you must think that both granddad and dad are ordering a celestial nightcap. “Win the division”, just get Medlen lined up for the one game playoff and stop the BS. The Braves are in and the Nats are very good with or without Strasberg. Sweep them and you “cut it” to 5 1/2, and that would put them in 1964 Phillies range.
September 13th, 201212:13 am
I really don’t pay much attention to the announcers Lou, don’t really like any of then mucm
September 13th, 201212:16 am
Jon Heyman @JonHeymanCBS
Race for 2nd wild card is a doozy. Phils, crew win every day; cards, dodgers, bucs lose every day. #wild
September 13th, 201212:18 am
Driving home I flipped between the Dodgers’ and Angels’ games and struck by various ironies that I am too tired to remember 15 minutes later…time to move away from baseball for the evening…good evening, all…
September 13th, 201212:22 am
People are saying Collapse but that is far from the truth. We can just win 20 percent of the games from here onwards and still make the post season because niether the Cards or Dodgers are doing anything. Bottom line is that we will be in the playoffs. No reason to panic. Yes it is frustrating to lose all these games but it’s not the end of the world.
In fact of all the wildcard contenders the Brewers would give Braves the least hardest time despite of the sweep. I am rooting for the Brewers to win the wildcard. Lets look at the contenders
1. Cardinals- Dangerous offense everyone is hitting .300 and with Loshe and Wainwright they can shut any team down
2. Dodgers- Kemp Hanley Gonzalez Either with Kershaw pitching.
3. Pirates- They are finished but I hope they make the wildcard because they are the easy to beat
4. Phillies- Not much offense won’t score many runs.Got good pitching but that is irrelvent as this won’t be a series it will be a game and their big 3 isn’t any better than Kershaw or Wainwright and thus I wouldn’t mind facing the Phillies in that 1 game
5. Brewers- Good home team pathetic road team. Will be away game for them if they play us. Apart from Gallardo they don’t have much pitching and Gallardo is inconsistent. Got to watch for Braun otherwise a team we can beat.
Foggy Mountain Breakdown
September 13th, 201212:28 am
Cardinals though will make it they got 9 games coming up vs Cubs and Astros.
They will go atleast 6-3 there.
Dodgers wil die with their schedule.
Pirates are done
Milwaukee and Phillies will need miracle
So Cardinals vs Braves
Wainwright vs Medlen
810 start on TBS
OCT 5TH in Atlanta GA
September 13th, 201212:41 am
postgame quotes are up…..by my count, not one tip-your-cap, so at least there’s that.
September 13th, 201212:59 am
Thanks for the heads up on the tip your caps.I don’t read them when we lose, because of that, this old man goes postal when I read that%^$##@.Will read them this morning. Thanks again C.R.
September 13th, 20121:01 am
final gamer is up, and judging by the fact that i see like one post since i put the quotes up, you guys have checked out.
got no problem with cap-tippin’ myself. If they beat you, admit it.
September 13th, 20121:08 am
All for admitting it,but enough of the hat tipping. Why not just say they played better than us even though we have better players, but because I can’t manage or coach my players,we get beat over and over again by players with lesser talent.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
