Is it me or did the Bravesvjust become the Cubs?
It’s you. Except for ‘95, they’ve always been the Cubs.
Wasting my time with this game, is there any football on?
Ric Flair to Right
Quite possible the worst bullpen management I’ve ever seen!
DOB would it be to much toask for you to not throw softballs at FG tonight and ask WTF HE IS DOING!!!!!!!!
Bring me up to date. Exactly why is Simmons not playing tonight?
Heard that he has an ankle sprain.
Great work, Cmart. Great work. Keep raising your oppo. OBP against ya.
By the way, nice to see Uggla sporting that .364 average over the last 10 days. How does he look tonight?
Take my word, he is soon going to settle back in to his .200 and below routine. Soon, as in tonight.
The A Bomb
Those of you who say managers have little effect are full of crap. Really full of it.
Lil' Barry Bailout (Unexpectedly Revised Downward)
Can anybody throw strikes? Pathetic.
September 12th, 20129:49 pm
with a couple of exceptions this team needs to be cleansed…..so much dead weight.
It seems the Braves are anti-Philly come September? It is sad to watch sitting here in a Philly nation.
“Let’s not forget, Maholm is basically a Cub. Cubs don’t play post season baseball.”
Except that one year they played the Braves and…
Same for the Astros, and Giants, and…
Argh, the aughts !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maholm 4.1 inning, 6 ER. Dayum. His ERA is gonna take a hit. Was already at 3.48 since joining the Braves, and he’s already had a stinker!
Dr. Kenneth Noisewater
CSB- Classic September Braves!!!
last 2 nites – fredi left the starter in too long. blowing it again
6 game lead gone by end of next week? Could it be?
September 12th, 20129:50 pm
To: Chip Caray……Memo…….Lauding the opponents doesn’t make our poop smell better!
Yep, Maholm shoulda been pulled much sooner. He was obviously fighting it with every pitch. He got rattled. Fredi gives the vets way too much credit just because they’re vets. Very silly.
Bourn must be thinking “well at least the fans can take it out on somebody else for a while.”
Junk Ball / Gopher ball Paul Maholm + E5 HOF + Fredi managing = Brewers Sweep.
Bourne continues to suck, suck, suck at the plate.
Game, Set, Match THANK YOU PAUL MAHOLM. As usual, Fredi G. is right on top of things!
FREDI will have him pitching great, in the quotes tomorrow.
Paul Maholm joins the CHOKERS that are your 2012 Atlanta Braves…The same Losers of the EPIC CHOKE of 2011.
Thank you Braves. Keep pissing down your leg! Losers to a man, and from the top down. A 8 run inning…
What a pukin’, pathetic joke.
September 12th, 20129:51 pm
Braves have enough players to get into the playoffs, but we don’t have a COACH
Maholm Bomb of The Night
You knew it was coming! If he’s in your rotation, it’s gonna happen! Boom! There goes another gopher ball!
lets go offense…
September 12th, 20129:52 pm
So, what do you all think of the Paul Maholm trade now?
I said it was a bad trade then and I am proved more right with each lame start he makes.
Remember the name Arodys Vizcaino. That is what the Braves gave up for this dead arm.
@the A bomb: well said. I don’t really see how any of you pro-Fredi guys CAN defend him now at this point…
My Chiefs got their asses handed to them at home by a very good Falcons team. Definitely an embarrassing home/season opener.
But they had 4 defensive starters out. 2 of them prow-bowl players.
This Braves team makes me proud to be a Chiefs fan. The Chiefs are less embarrassing…. and they have the worst record in the AFC since 2007.
Fredi Gonzalez’s team management skills makes Romeo Crennel look like a genius.
September 12th, 20129:53 pm
Line on Maholm: 4 1/3 innings, nine hits, eight runs (six earned), two walks, two Ks, one home run. 86 pitches (54 strikes)
This is plain embarrassing.
Jasons Shrinking Waist
Have u noticed everytime the braves went on a tear this year and won six or seven in a eow they immediatly turn around and lose six in arow..lits incredible.
If they come out friday night and Meds gets shelled…its a sure sign that this ship is sinking faster than the Titanic
I mean, im just sayin…..
September 12th, 2012
If Wren has any balls, he’d fire Fredi TONIGHT! Show this sorry sack of losers that losing is NOT acceptable two Septembers in a row.
Remember, you’re talking about Losersville here, where losing not only is acceptable two Septembers in a row, but also in 154 of 155 seasons of pro sports competition over nearly half a century.
You should never underestimate just how truly acceptable losing is in this city.
Eight effing runs…give me a break. This team and this manager are a joke.
OUCH. And to add insult to injury, the Nats are up 2-0 in the 8th.
We do have three hits.
We’ll build on that and get em friday.
Can I ask you guys something. who is your ace? Right now we have 4 of them. Yes, Kendrick would out pitch any Brave right now. 6-2. Wow. Don’t let last year get too far from your memory. the way the Phil’s are playing and the Brewers the 1 game playoff may be in Philly. Don’t laugh. A year ago if I said the Braves will not make WC you.’d have laughed. in ‘07 the Rockies went 15-1 to end the season. Why can’t the Braves go 1-15. If anybody can do it it’s the historically choking Braves. 7-2 now. You may as well turn off the sets. They have a better chance of beating Phil’s in a one gamer than winning this guy. I asked for one thing please beat the Brewers when it was 2-0. Somebody give me 100-1 that the Phils catch the Braves. Look what happened last year, the Braves went 10-21 in Sept. I can see them so snakebite now that that Atlanta Braves crysong ‘choke’ is in their head. If that were to happen and I were a Braves fan it wouldn’t last long. They phuckig suck.
September 12th, 20129:54 pm
It must be September. I hear a choking sound.
Kevin McAlpin @KevinMcAlpin
Paul Maholm’s line: 4.1 IP, 9 H, 8 R (6 ER), 2 BB, 2 K, 1 HR, 86 pitches (54 for strikes). #Braves
Yeesh. Thank goodness for some calculus homework, gives me something to do. This game isn’t helping my mood, unfortunately.
http://t.co/Tr0g7rYf Funny pic
I’ll save you all the trouble reading tonight’s Braves quotes: “Things just didn’t go our way.”
P— on fire and call the dogs. The hunt’s over.
September 12th, 20129:55 pm
@Bronke…..Re: 9:48 post;
Yeah, I think the Bronkeoooooos are on!
Strasburg is prolly, like, eh, maybe they don’t need me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
we bat like we got lead in our pants
Someone looking for me?
September 12th, 20129:56 pm
Is it still the SI jinx if you only write a back page article?
Yep, Maholm shoulda been pulled much sooner. He was obviously fighting it with every pitch. He got rattled. Fredi gives the vets way too much credit just because they’re vets. Very silly
I wouldn’t say it’s silly, but yes your post is pretty accurate.
Dang you Ishikawa.
September 12th, 2012
6 game lead gone by end of next week? Could it be?
Absodamnlutely! You don’t have to look any further back than a year ago to see that’s it’s not only possible, but likely.
September 12th, 20129:57 pm
All you guys who were saying what you did last week about the Braves having a lot of games left with sub .500 teams, got the guts to repeat it? You know who you are so let’s discuss it again.
SAME TEAM AS LAST SEASON!
Got to respect how Chipper runs out those groundballs though.
CORRECTION: SAME OFFENSE AS LAST SEASON MINUS GONZO!
September 12th, 20129:58 pm
9 years ago today we lost the namesake of the blog…RIP MIB…
Christian Martinez is just awful too. Every time this guy comes in he gives up runs… Every damn time.
THE COLLAPSE HAS ALREADY STARTED FOLKS.
Gotta tip your hat to the Brewer, Phillies, and other teams that are peaking in September while Fredi leads this bunch of washed up quitters to their annual predictable collapse. I feel sorry for people who bought playoff tickets today since Ticketmaster won’t refund the service charge when Fredi finishes destroying this team with his idiocity. It is time to trade Heyward while he still has trade value and try and build for the future before the rest of these clowns rub off on him and he starts loafing on every play like the rest of these cheap Wren bums.
zinfandel and jager/gin shots !!!!!!!!!!!!
But I thought we had a 99 percent chance of making it in? We probably will just thx to the ineptitude of our closest pursuers, assuming the brew crew or phillies don’t overhaul em by next week.
September 12th, 20129:59 pm
You know who you are so let’s discuss it again.
We’ll still get the WC. Not gonna collapse. Just had a bad series. Afraid our division hopes might be crushed though…
haha, we’ll be so lucky to make the playoffs. flat out pathetic effort. we can’t even win 1 game out of the 3 vs the under 500 brewers…. how are we gonna win a 1 gm playoff vs a good team?? lol this is a joke..
Manager lost control of this game. Should have pulled the pitcher after the fourth run.
Nats Beat Writer…
Amanda Comak @acomak
Sheesh. Look up an inning ago and the #Braves are up 2-0 on the #Brewers. A few minutes later it’s 7-2 Milwaukee.
“4 1/3 innings, nine hits, eight runs”
so 13 earned in his last 11 and 2/3 innings pitched, meh .. could be worse
The Brewers strike for 8 runs in an inning while the Braves struggle to score 8 runs in a month.
September 12th, 201210:00 pm
Maholm is a bum and always has been a bum. If Sheets feels ok – replace Maholm’s spot in the rotation with Sheets, hell replace Maholm’s spot in the rotation with Delgado or Teheran!
This loss is on Chipper. Makes error then next play dives for ball but cant even bother throwing and then can’t throw our Rameriez. Instead of being so consumed with Twitter he should sit on focus on his defense. I would take Fransico and his 0-4 with 4k’s over this type of pathetic Jones performance.
September 12th, 201210:01 pm
Well I think there have been enough starts now by Maholm for me to come out and crow a bit about how I was right and that he would revert back to his historical form just when the Braves needed him the most. He has been terrible and Wren should lose his job for not wrapping up a trade for Greinke or trying again to get Dempster. Anything less than a first round series win should have Fredi and Wren looking for work elsewhere in 2013. Chipper, I feel for ya man because you deserved so much more than this incompetence of management during your farewell tour.
And on this losing night, sleep well those who bother…..
Is anybody REALLY surprised? Maholm’s numbers vs Milwaukee’s were downright brutal. This game was a loss before they even took the field.
And now, they get to go home and lose AT LEAST 2 of 3 to the Nats.
Yep, racing towards that finish line, aren’t we, boys?
This team will be lucky to exceed last year’s 89 wins at this point.
Who cares if the Braves collapse again? Life will go on for everybody. LOL! You really think the players will sulk over it for very long? Life is busy, busy.
September 12th, 201210:02 pm
The nice thing about last year’s collapse? How relaxing the postseason was.
This year, we have to endure a 1 game playoff, and help our soul should we win that…
And then Fredi lives for another year and we perfect our Cubs strategy.
They spent their load on Soriano, we have Uggs.
Gonzalez finally grew some last week, and you saw the result. But for some reason he has gone back to his godson Uggla with all the love and support a .215 hitter needs to feel warm and fuzzy.
6 good weeks over 2 seasons $13 million. Love and support. What a joke.
Not every time, but he’s had 50 appearances, pitching 70 innings. Allowed 33 runs. That’s about every other appearance. Hence he’s a long reliever.
September 12th, 201210:03 pm
Can’t wait to face the Nats this weekend, because we all know that we own the Nats. 6 game losing streak coming right up.
September 12th, 201210:05 pm
Ok, so we are down to one pitcher that we can count on. Not sure this will be enough to back slide into the playoffs. Pitiful. Yes, I’ll remember Vizcaino. Seems a bag of balls and some bats to the Cubs would’ve been too much.
I have never seen somebody mess with their eyes as much as McCann.
C T B-
You are right while me and you are working during the winter these poor boys will be home counting there money.
i think maholms option doesnt look so good now. anyway this team obviously isnt gonna get the job done and is gonna fail and choke again.
Last time I checked the Phillies only have 1 ring to show for their little run so when they are sitting at home this yr watching the Braves in the playoffs they can wonder what happened with their bloated payroll. They are the chokers.
SINCE 1991 THIS TEAM HAS WON ONE CHAMPIONSHIP AND THE COMMEN THREAD IS TO STOCK UP WITH PITCHING, PITCHING AND MORE PITCHING AND SOME 20 YEARS LATER, THIS ORGANIZATION IS STILL IN THE TANK CAUSE THEY DONT HAVE ANY FREAKIN IDEA OF HOW TO BUILD A WINNING TEAM CAUSE THIER IDEA IS TO OUT PITCH EVERYBODY ELSE!
AND ONCE AGAIN THEY ARE FINDING WAYS IN SEPTEMBER TO COUGH IT UP. THIS TEAM WILL BE SITTING AT HOME AGAIN IN SEPTEMBER!
Bmac with an eye issue…
I love how people are talking about the one-game playoff like it’s a foregone conclusion. Last I checked, the Braves have not clinched anything. And also last time I checked, these are the same Braves that coughed up the wild card last year.
September 12th, 201210:06 pm
something i haven’t seen with the Braves team for many years is a REFUSE TO LOSE attitude… and resilience. (not 1 game, but every game)
It is the reason this team is so soft, so fragile and can not win consistently.
Both have been missing for the last several years.
And is the MAIN reason this team has not reached it’s expectations.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
