Boog is at ESPN at probably double or triple the pay he received in ATL, plus he gets to live in NY. I doubt he ever looked back. He is a smart kid and a terrific announcer.
September 12th, 20128:49 pm
WHY IS MICHAL BOURN PLAYING????
WUT THE HELL MAN!!!!
IF YOU CANT HIT THEN F****UING BUNT!!!!!
BUNT YOU FOOL
I think Bourn needs a couple days off.Looks tired and bat is slow.
Hugo Z Hackenbush
September 12th, 20128:50 pm
I don’t care what Boog is making. This is about Me and My needs. And I need a world class play-by-play guy because I deserve it.
September 12th, 20128:51 pm
Whats up with this team taking fastballs down the middle? I mean multiple fastballs down the heart of the plate being taken each at bat. Too much guessing going on
Michael Bourn sucks again.
Lets look at the bright side.Man. At least we can say we lead MLB in one category…slumps.
TheOnlyBravesFan (September 12th, 2012 11:46 am): “Just
looked at stats for all LF, Willingham leads the way in RBIs with 102. And
yet he’s hitting only .261. Get him Frank!”
TheOnlyBravesFan (September 12th, 2012 11:54 am): “Alex
Gordon might likely be available as well. I’m sure the Royals will want/need
to call up Wil Myers. That might make Gordon expendable. He’s up to a
respectable .293/.362/.449/.811 line with 11 HR and 63 RBI this year. . . .
He has dropped off from his HR and RBI numbers last year (23 and 87), “
Dude, would you please stop looking at RBIs to evaluate an individual
player’s productivity? They are an unreliable and invalid gauge for that.
I suggest instead that you use Baseball Prospectus’ RBI Opportunites (OBI%)
stats — check them out here (they’re eminently sortable):
This goes for you, too, DOB, and for anyone else who’s
Josh Willingham’s OBI% is 16.2%, which is tied for second lowest among the
the top 30 OBI producers. Indicative that he’s not so much productive as
the beneficiary of more RBI opportunities.
Compare that to Freeman’s OBI% of 17.4%, or any of the following: DWright
(17.2%), RBraun (17.5%), AMcCutchen (17.8%).
The best run producers this year have OBI%s of 20+ — JHamilton (22.8%),
AGonzalez (21.1%), MMontero (20.8%), JLucroy (20.7%), MCabrera (20.6%),
Alex Gordon has an OBI% of 15.5% — compare that to Prado (15.9%), Jones
(15.8%) and Bourn (15.7%).
Other Braves’ OBI%s — Uggla (13.2%), Heyward (12.4%).
September 12th, 20128:52 pm
There really is a Logan Schafer that plays MLB CF? That is wack. I thought that name was a blog inside joke about Jordan Schafer. I guess the joke is in my hand.
Makes sense to me,Hugo
Lets look at the bright side. At least we can say we lead MLB in one category…slumps.
September 12th, 20128:53 pm
Offense looking to be in its typical slumbering malaise tonight. They have already met their quote of one run.
September 12th, 20128:54 pm
Another uncomfortable game for me. Just don’t see Maholm throwing more shutout innings.
September 12th, 20128:56 pm
Bourn has 36 Ks since August 1, Uggla has 34… Bourn has had 30 more PAs than Uggla has.
History will honor Janish’ willingness to sacrifice his body for the good of this team. Thanks, Paul.
Isn’t this just the typical Braves performance? Maholm will have to go as deep as he can without allowing a run, and the bullpen will have to be perfect. Take nothing away from Gallardo, a very good pitcher, but it’s just disgraceful that the Heyward homer is their only RBI in the series.
September 12th, 20128:57 pm
Sweet, SD beat the Cards 3-2, so that helps us and Philly
Lee in S GA
Boog is at ESPN at probably double or triple the pay he received in ATL, plus he gets to live in NY.
and he gets to hang around Sarah Walsh
September 12th, 20128:58 pm
Our pitching staff needs to work on their fielding….Janish could prof course in off-season?
Freeman has had trouble at first base recently.
FIRE FREDI GONZALEZ
September 12th, 20128:59 pm
We’ve decided to take our struggles into the field.
The A Bomb
Lately Freddie Freeman has been playing with the agility of Freddie Gwynne.
You bet, Hugo
Nice break there at second
September 12th, 20129:03 pm
AWFUL! SUCKS! NO TOOLS!
Nice snag, Jason!
Go ahead, Hey. Wow.
Nice D, Heyward
Guys, is it too much to ask to beat the Brewers 1 game out of 3. I say they won’t. We recently swept Washington for you not that’s gonna do any good but you beating Brews will put us by ourselves 3 out. Hearing that you may want to lose as nobody wants anything to do with the Phillies in playoffs. Howard is hitting about half his weight so if he gets hot and the way the starters are rolling they’d be favorite over everybody.
Interesting…. talking about Rays game, but nice little tidbit about Huddy
Tim Kurkjian @Kurkjian_ESPN
Cobb is done. The Rays pen has a 1.33 ERA in his starts this year. Only Tim Hudson and Bronson Arroyo have gotten better pen support
We need the filthy Mets to score some runs on the Nats. Mets kid pitcher Harvey Ks 10 in 5 innings, but runs out of gas at 106 pitches an 1 R.
Defense on de-fence.
September 12th, 20129:04 pm
Heyward made a nice catch. It looked like that might have been a homerun.
September 12th, 20129:06 pm
Cab and VJ: Sure y’all ain’t twins? Almost the exact same post!
See? I knew you were the same person.
September 12th, 20129:07 pm
Yeah I know, two more exclamation points. Can’t be the same person.
TOBF – and they were both hung up in the blogosphere for a minute – amazed they both appeared – one of us usually would get a “posting too quickly” notice…
September 12th, 20129:08 pm
I’ve always heard that women have two more exclamaion points…
FF!! (nice job, CJ!)…
Since September 1, Bourn has whiffed 11 times… Uggla just 4. Bourn has just 10 more PAs than Uggla
September 12th, 20129:09 pm
Schafer sure looks different. Must been all the cocaine and weed he has been on.
The makings of a Braves rally with no outs. Let’s score guys.
The dreaded 1st and 3rd with no outs……why God? Why do you do this to us?
September 12th, 20129:10 pm
They score a run, yet still shoot themselves in the foot.
Simmons has a minor ankle sprain, will be ready for Nats. Not everybody has a sleepwalking offense this month. Giants just hung a 5-spot on the Rockies in the 1st; that’s more runs than Braves have scored in their last 31 innings combined. Cards lose again, so maybe we will back into the playoffs after all.
September 12th, 20129:11 pm
All righty then at least we got another run, but geez why the hurry BMac and Uggla (3 pitches between them.
September 12th, 20129:12 pm
“The wind is moving but I am standing still—A life of pages waiting to be filled…..” Uggla’s place in this World….Looking for a …….???? [Michael W. Smith].
If I had my choice of a guy to start a team around and a non pitcher I’d take Heyward in a second. Lefty, speed, great fielder. Stanton whiffs too much and hits too many homers when the Marlins are getting killed. Need I say more. C’mon, we’ll see how clutch thay are. Never mind useless just hit into
DP. Why would you even play him. You’ve got a lineup with Prado at 2nd and me in left would beat useless.
It won’t show up in the box score, but Uggla is becoming the unstoppable force !!!!!!!!!!
September 12th, 20129:13 pm
1st and 3rd with no out, and 4 pitches later inning over.
Good start, Pauls…
September 12th, 20129:14 pm
Equilibrium of the Braves is off. You cannot bat Uggla and McCann back to back. I would have Constanza or Prado first ( Bourn on the bench) and Uggla bat 5 and McCann 8. Too predictable and inconsistent. They both killed that potential rally. What do you bloggers think?
I think Uggla is waiting for Godot
September 12th, 20129:15 pm
Nationals had bases loaded, none out in the 6th, and failed to score – bunch of bumbs…
September 12th, 20129:16 pm
It’s a different Schafer, Veer… unless you were making a joke, in which case I apologize
The guy is still so valuable.
September 12th, 20129:17 pm
Ok, I’ll go 8 mil a year for the cf, but that’s it!
Great catch Bourn….
Pirates with failed suicide squeeze. Pitch out. Nailed. Desperation setting in?
Nice catch, bourn
Great catch, Mikey!
September 12th, 20129:18 pm
white zinfandel !!!!!!!!!!
…..So many organs working for the same purpose—and, this?
September 12th, 20129:19 pm
Oh, We’re very lucky for Michael not be injured.
September 12th, 20129:20 pm
Bourn will get around 13-14 mill is my guess.
September 12th, 20129:21 pm
Please trade Uggla. He has been a huge failure and look what you are paying him. You move Prado to play everywhere in the infield and LF as well and he has played daily and given over 100%. Move Prado back to second and unload Uggla during the off season. And one other thing, if the Braves go to post season, do us all a favor and leave Uggla off the post season roster. Maybe he can get a personal trainer job since weight training has apparently taken the place of batting practice.
September 12th, 20129:22 pm
Bet you all 20 cents that Bourn strikes out here
September 12th, 20129:23 pm
“Please trade Uggla.”
Uggla gets a run across and has raised his average 8 points in the last few weeks, and this how you you do him?
“Bet you all 20 cents that Bourn strikes out here”
Too rich for my blood.
September 12th, 20129:24 pm
Good thing Bourn has been working with the hitting coaches.
Ike Davis flies out with the bases loaded, ending the inning…
September 12th, 20129:25 pm
rj, if they traded Uggla they’d still be paying the majority of his contract. It would not free up much cash and they would then need a LF and 3B instead of just one.
September 12th, 20129:26 pm
Don’t like Ike (baby boomer reference).
Ike Davis is a bumb…..
If you want Uggla gone so bad, then you pay his salary while he plays somewhere else. The Braves aren’t doing that.
September 12th, 20129:27 pm
DFA time, I’m afraid…
Don’t eff around?
September 12th, 20129:28 pm
“if they traded Uggla they’d still be paying the majority of his contract.”
Maybe not. I’ll always wonder if we could have just given him to Detroit at some point this year?
September 12th, 20129:31 pm
Nice job saving his own run…(dum-dum-da-dum) for now….
Blue Tree is getting on my nerves
Those wily Japanese, and their wily Japanese hitting styles…
September 12th, 20129:32 pm
Aoki the counter Bourn !
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
