Micky Mantle was also my boyhood idol and like Chipper’s dad I took my son to meet him at a card show, paid 35.00, stood in a long line, and when we got up to Mick, he was talking to someone else behind the table, he barely looked at us and said nothing to us, just continued to talk to somebody else, We have to be careful how high we put these guys on their pedestal, just because they can swing a bat dosn’t make them complete heros. Just sayin..

Simmons had many awkward looking slides last night, especially on pick off attempts. I know he wants to protect his hand but not at the expense of messing up his ankle. There has to be a protective brace he can put on when he reaches base

If the Braves win 90+ games and we make the playoffs(which is sadly a one gamer), then I fully expect Fredi to be back.

We could collapse again, miss the playoffs and I think Wren would still be given this offseason and 2013. Fredi? No way he would return.

And for the folks that don’t like to blame Wren for anything, he did hire Fredi Gonzalez to manage the team. That has to be at least one strike against the man. But I’m a fan of Wren overall – just not that decision.

Simmons had many awkward looking slides last night, especially on pick off attempts. I know he wants to protect his hand but not at the expense of messing up his ankle.

The most awkward looking play on his wrist was on the DP that he did not turn and a run scored on. He got his legs taken out from under him and he landed on both wrists.

sure he has made a few booboos, every GM who ever lived has. I certainly don’t think he is the bestest greatest GM around, but he is aggressice about acquiring what he thinks he needs and can afford, and has made several absolute steals and a number of other decent trades. B+

nolie, what coach in there right mind would starte Janish, Prado just as good.

look no one is looking for Ozzie Smith type defense, Prado is a solid player who play good defense also have above AVG BAT.

When your struggle to score runs like the Braves playing .188 Janish will not improve that at all.

Tex, Soriano, Kawakami, and it’s probably just me, but I’d never, ever give up a first rounder for a 40 year old Tom Glavine. That was crazy. Even Wagner, I didn’t like at the time. In his tenure, he’s given up a 1st rounder in 2008, a 2nd rounder in 2009, and a 1st rounder in 2010. The two first rounders he did select were Mike Minor and Sean Gilmartin prior to this year selecting Lucas Sims. I know Tony DeMacio made those picks, but again, Wren brought him in.
