“Maholm (12-9, 3.67), though, is 1-10 with a 5.37 ERA in his last 18 starts against the Brewers, including five straight losing decisions over his past seven matchups.
He made two starts against Milwaukee while with the Chicago Cubs this season and went 0-2 with an 11.25 ERA.”
That’s encouraging. Guess we’ll be going back home with a 3-3 road trip.

If the Braves get home-field in the play-in game, it just means they can bracket the playoffs with an elimination win at home to start and complete the post-season.

I don’t assume…AT ALL… that we will lose the play-in game. In fact, we should be favored to win. Once past that, who knows? Anything could happen. Poster negativity does not = Brave losses.

Anybody in their right mind would want Medlen to start that play in game, as things stand now.
What would be really nice is for the Braves to get a chance to set up their rotation for the playoffs. We’re pretty much out of the running (though not technically) for the division championship, and so long as we don’t have a 2011 type collapse, we should fairly easily be able to have the best WC record at the end of the season.
I’d love to see the team set up their pitching accordingly.

Can you work it that way? There’s only the off day on 10/04. If Hudson or Minor have to pitch on 10/03, they couldn’t come back on 10/06. I admit, I have no idea how the rotation plays out at the end of the month.

Usually true, although we occasionally have a pithching meltdown….but for ALL the negativeity, offense, pithcing, etc., we are still 19 games over .500, on track to win 92 games, on September 12.

They will no doubt have that ability. The last week of the season will be pointless for the 1st wild card. The 2nd wild card probably will have some drama but not for the Braves.
I’m assuming the Braves go: Medlen, Hudson, Maholm, Minor, (Sheets)
And can only hope they don’t pitch Tommy Hanson in the playoffs at all.
Not sure how the schedule works out, but possibly they’d be able to go:
Medlen, Hudson, Maholm, Medlen, Minor

DS1 and scoots, if we keep the current rotation, i think medlen can start the one game playoff on 3 days rest.
or, they can skip a starter on an off day(which would be easy, since hanson is scheduled to start on an off day), and medlen can start the playoff on regular rest.
