Safe to say that Durbin has regressed toward the mean. He has become his old terrible self again. Worthless bullpen work tonight from Venters and Durbin.
tiger – answer the question – are you really serious that Chipper could have dived five feet to his right to catch the ball thrown as hard as Venters throws? Or did you perhaps get a bit too touchy in your vitriolic comment to me?
These clowns are walking people trying to not throw the ball across the plate. Medlin throws strikes over the plate and he does alright. The Bullpen guys act like they are scared to throw strikes.
All this started because Freddi didn’t run for McCann in the top of 7th. We would have scored another run and they wouldn’t have been bunting.
And then Venters is NOT in fielding position after making pitch and that’s how their big inning started.
Guys, seriously, the bullpen had to have a bad night at some point. They were unhittable for much of August, and practically all of September so far. They saved us quite a bit last week in those 1-0 (and any other 1run) games. Just hope that they keep it close enough.
I just feel sorry for Mike M. He pitched too well to not get a win, and to have the team possibly get a loss out of it.
Braves relievers come in with sub 3.50 ERA and get hit hard and Brewers bring in relievers with ERA’s above 4 and we can’t score….have to take advantage of opportunities.
It might be nice to a see a team that has high hopes for the playoffs be able to overcome an exceedingly rare bad bullpen performance with some late runs.
All this started because Freddi didn’t run for McCann in the top of 7th. We would have scored another run and they wouldn’t have been bunting.
And then Venters is NOT in fielding position after making pitch and that’s how their big inning started
Agreed. Put pastornacky in for Mac at 2nd. He’s off on contact and has a chance to score. What the heck? We’ve got 2 catchers on the bench. Dumb non move by Freddie. My 11 year old nephew could’ve made that call
I wonder what this blog would be like if that was Uggla who just made another base running mistake?? Haha it would be a lot different tone than it is now….
I told ya earlier….Prado thinks he’s Usain Bolt! The reality is he’s about as fast as Freddie Freeman!
Prado was thrown out at the plate yesterday trying to score from third on a groundout. I love Martin but his baserunning is the weakest part of his game.
The Braves have been running themselves out of innings the entire game. Not one but two outs for Prado at third, Freeman caught at first base, Heyward taking the bat out of Chipper’s hands in the first…not to take away from the Brewers’ defense (particularly Maldonado), but this many outs on the basepaths just screams “sloppy”.
Overzealousness on the part of the Bravo runners….got to score to win/on the other hand, the Brewers know that too–and they’re going to try and keep you from scoring–you know–it’s late and I’m getting darn irritated with this stupid decision-making; I’m gone!
Speed or the lack thereof, and poor relief pitching by Venters and Durban cost Braves the game tonight. Prado ran into 2 outs at 3rd, McCann’s slowness cost us a run, and FF gets picked off 1st. FF needs a rest of a game or two. Expect Overbay to be at 1st in tomorrow’s game. Prado needs to learn that his speed is average.
I don’t care if it is Monday. Wouldn’t matter if it was Friday, with this terrible base running tonight no team can overcome stupid mistakes like what we are seeing tonight. Just awful.
