FG has to be the most unpredictable manager than has ever existed. His convoluted thought process is completely reversed from what it was in the first half of the season, and even after the AS game. Just can’t figure him out.
cabravesfan, I do like Target too. Got one less than half a mile from me, with food. Go there pretty often too. In fact I walk there a lot for exercise.
Would this be FG hitting the “Panic Button”? Had a sign at work years ago in a radio station, near the transmitter that said, “DON’T PANIC, THINK’! I changed it to, “DON’T THINK, PANIC.”
There are a dozen posters here who bitch just about every time that Fredi does not use Kimbrel in this situation, now we gots folks complaining that its panic. Guy can’t win…….
I don’t understand that inning at all unless every other reliever is sick and puking and hooked up to IVs…
So you are in favor of using an inferior reliever to try to get three game-saving outs? Just because he doesn’t get a number next to an “S” in the box score doesn’t mean he is not helping to save a game.
If you use your inferior reliever logic why would you ever bring in another one.
We are on completely different pages here though Brian so lets just hope we can pull it out here in the 10th since Teeen just legged out an infield hit
That bottom of the 9th were the three most important outs in the game so far. The Braves used their best pitcher to get those outs. That’s how it should be done.
Yep, as bad as I had to say it, agree with this logic from FG. Just wish he had used it more before now. Don’t think “closers” should be one inning specialists, just because they are unionized. That’s what it reminds me of.
Was Kimbrell already warming up while we were hitting in the 9th? If he was, and I suspect he was with a runner on third then all of this bickering is silly. You don’t want to warm him jump twice and then come in later.
Managers do that all the time, T-Dawg, and it’s ridiculous. Closers sometimes have to warm up five times in an extra-inning game. That’s a good way to get someone hurt.
That’s my point. You’ve used him a lot and having him warm up over and over is what FG wanted to avoid. Go ahead and get his one “guaranteed” scoreless inning and let him rest. Especially since we play tomorrow.
One last thought. If someone had started the 9th and we got in a jam and could lose it then I could see it. Still wouldn’t love it but could buy it. But to start the 9th with nobody on – No
Now I’d love to have Kimmy coming in with nobody on up by 1 run!
