As posting these words it’s merely the 3rd inning of the Friday night game at Citi Field vs the Met’s. As bad as it pains me to say, the Bravos are far removed from being the Met killer’s they were say even 2-3 years past. Even farther removed is the met-killer of the one-and-only number 10 Chipper. In fact, I am posting these words, a mere seconds after Chipper went down swinging to fan with bases loaded. If Chipper was the Hall of Famer most feel him to be in a big key situation such s this, Chipper should have been able to do no less than get his bat on the ball to hit a sacrifice fly, if not better? Indeed, Chipper seemingly is about as far removed from being a met-killer as the teams who calls Queens New York home is removed from the stadium known as Shea Stadium. While obviously Chipper has left Braves fans with several big life-lasting memories such as two walk off home runs during 2012, it has become even clearer when all is considered Chi;pper has little left to bring to the table, even his past solid defensive process has shown over the past six weeks as several plays which Chipper failed to put a glove on, it’s obvious his reflexes have slowed a bit. Even more obvious is the fact the Braves are not going to catch Washington in the standings, and to be a wild card in 2012 is about like rolling dice, as the odds of winning and advancing on a win one game or out format rests on much more luck that talent, especially when most other teams will send to the bump one dominating ace starting pitcher while the Braves only close to sure thing is Kris Medlin? Indeed, fans of the uniforms with the Tomahawk Chop, as much as it pains me to believe, while the fat lady isn’t singing yet, but she is certainly warming up her vocals, and the man who holds the strings to the curtain hasn’t lowered it yet, but sure is close to dropping the curtain on the 2012 season!

one season does not a correlation make, and hardly in the middle of the pack, we were fifth.
and if you look you will see that the top 6 scoring teams all had the top 6 OBP, pretty much that way most years. never said it was a linear relationship
If we can sweep the Nats and play real solid the rest of the way, we have a small chance… it’s small, but still there. Gotta play the games to see what happens.
Nats have been playing really solid baseball all year, and they are seemingly getting stronger as the season goes on. Winning the series would be a tall order in itself, but hey we can hope!

I totally agree Mark. But look around and find other .300BA SS players in the ML.
Simmons in A Ball .293
Simmons MLB .296
Also in basically 1 months worth of work was good enough to get him to 2.4 WAR. 6th on the list of ML SS’s. Which is .4 better than Jeter.

I admit I’m old school.
1, 2, 8 hitters OBP with very few Ks – can take pitches and put ball in play with 2 strikes.
3, 4, 5, 6, 7 hit the ball. BA, extra base hits and rbis matter – can;t do that well taking 2-0 FBs. Still fewer Ks the better – I hate Ks
