Simmons homered in 2-1 win for Class-A Lynchburg tonight. They advance. Don’t know yet if he’ll play any more rehab games
**********************************************
SIMMONS should be HOMERING for us instead of LYNCHBURG, like MEDS should have been pitching for us instead of G-BRAVES for three weeks earlyer this year.
Gonzalez said there were no plans to return Sheets to the starting rotation for now, barring injury or a downturn in performance by another starting pitcher.
Downturn in performance…. uh, Hanson! *cough cough*
Did I say anything about Martin, Disgusted? He’s doing a bang-up job. I just see no reason to keep Simmons on rehab since the original plan was to bring him back tomorrow if he did well. He has, and this club needs his bat in the lineup. Just my opinion.
Keylargo – I’m not saying the stats about Mac are wrong, but inferring to the audience that that’s the main reason Ross is playing tonight is inaccurate .. right?
You do understand the point of rehab, yes? He has not played an MLB game since July and has only been swinging a bat for about a week. He’s played 3 games. He will be back in a day or two.
AdamRubinESPN Adam Rubin
Only halfway done, but if score holds, Braves would win 3rd straight, 1-0. http://t.co/UKIZHUI3 goes back to 1918. No one has ever done it.
By the way it was nice to remind a few coworkers of mine about their statements in the spring that the Orioles were going to fall to last place by Sept… oh the joy to see them contending with the Yankees.
I think Prado IS the back up shortstop now. Don’t they need a bat in Yanish’s roster spot.
Prado is only the back up because there are no other options. It is not a long term position for him. And they do not need the roster spot because the rosters are expanded so there is no need to send anyone down.
@cabravesfan….I agree with the 8:53 rendering, but thought additionally that perhaps Fredi is trying to increase the offensive production tonight a bit with the placement of Martin @SS—and, I do understand the philosophical reason Mr. Yanish was brought on board…[def. specialist].
Perhaps. Certainly you want to keep Marteen’s bat in the line up as much as possible. But there is also little doubt that Janish is by far the superior defensive player at SS.
Mets announcers discussing the possibility of the Mets making a deal for David Wright in the off-season similar to the deal the Rangers made with the Braves for Tex. Said that deal drove the Rangers’ rise to top tier status.
keyLargo – Bay makes $16 mil next year and has a $3 mil buyout for 2014. That’s $19 mil. Would the Mets send him to the Braves and pay $10 mil – absolutley. Assuming they don’t have to take any other crap back.
No way the Braves would take Bay. Him and Uggla in the same lineup? Yikes.
Sophee – He’s not done much offensively. It’s just one of those Showlater I’m smarter than everyone moves. To be fair though Showalter has some track record with building championship teams he doesn’t get to enjoy the parade with. Yanks and D’backs.
The only way the Mets make a good deal for Wright is to a team that will extend him beyond next yr. And the extension will have to be done this off season.
I could make sense down the road for the Mets but frustrating for Mets fans now. Who are they going to want to pay to watch??????
Long building plans are a pain, they can be fruitful if done right but you really do not want to be completely irrelevant with no players for a time.
Look at Houston. They really have no future. And Kansas City is a perpetual wasteland as long as David Glass is around. They do have prospects but their pitching is sorry with a capital S. And that Luke Hochevar is a big Bust with a Capital B.
Rome Getting beat 3-2 in bottom of the 7th in Ashville against the Tourist. If they lose they would play the rubber game Saturday night. They could use Andrelton if he is still on rehab.
Fredi has played every freakin combo of losers he has in the dugout and STILL can’t score runs! So just give Fredi a rest and blame the overpaid losers on this team who are choking on their own spit!
Which team could be a legit suitor for David Wright????
I mean a team that could offer them a legit deal and also sign him to a long term deal.
Call me crazy but with A-Rod slowing down could something between the cross town NYY be worked out???? What does A-Rod have — two more yrs in the field before he becomes a DH????
Fredi has played every freakin combo of losers he has in the dugout and STILL can’t score runs! So just give Fredi a rest and blame the overpaid losers on this team who are choking on their own spit!

Martin is not doing a bad job at short.
Give him a break he is trying to play a new postion & he made a good play this past inning.
I want Simmons completely healthy but I did enjoy watching Janish out there in the field on an everyday basis & there is a place for Paul here.
If he could just hit .250/.310.

I hope that Sheets is able to come back and get healthy. It was a nice story.
If he is healthy would not mind bring him to ST for reasonable $$$$$$$$$. One yr deal of course.
Even start with a minor league contract, $$$$$$$$ goes up if you make the team.
