Ghost- I never found misery in Chippers game. If you’ve followed me on here for the last 4 years or so you would know I’ve always respected and admired his game. He’s one of the greats of our generation. I’ll actually miss watching my guys face him.

Few thoughts, which Im pretty sure some of you have already posted:
1. Why is it that the braves have not benched Uggla 3 times a week and play Martin at 2B and Johnson at LF since his acquisition?
2. Why is it that Prado and Bourn have not been rested more now that Johnson is here?
3. Why is it that Chipper has not been taken out late in games when the situation says Chipper is not needed anymore (winning or losing situation). Moving Prado to 3B and inserting Johnson in the game.
4. McCann having another great AllStar season, LOL. His popups and PBs stats just wont get better. Braves need to start looking for another C.
5. Rest of the team Im pretty happy with.
6. Offense is real solid…..besides Uggla and Mc….and will improve now that Simmons is coming back.
7. Seriously….. Gonzalez has to show some balls and use Johnson……he is better than Uggla right now. And has to give more playing time to Ross……..he is a better option than Mc as we speak.
8. We have to feel pretty good just to think that our weak spot in the rotation is Hanson…..I can live with that.
9. Pen…..cant ask for much more……..they just put pressure on other teams as they know that they have to score a lot before the 7th or they will lose the game.
10. What would you guys do once playoffs get here? MEDLEN + HUDSON + SHEETS + MINOR????
11. Is Sheets coming back from the injury? what are the braves expecting from him?
12. Will Hanson get a spot in the playoff rotation over Minor?

I would love to see the braves move martin to 3b next season and keep johnson and bourn……….that would be pretty solid………….and fun to watch.

Not an impossible thought. Personally I’m more concerned about continuing to develop pitching right now. If Wright wants over the moon $’s let him get them elsewhere. He’s a terrific player but I just don’t think you can wrap $150+ mil in one player anymore.
I’m not sure if you heard the talk about Chipper saying how the Braves never let him get close to FA which was taken as a hint towards the Mets with Wright? What was neglected to be mentioned in those discussions is that Chipper also gave home team discounts in those deals. If Wright is willing to do that then I’m sure they’ll lock him up. If not we’ll have to wait and see what he thinks he’s worth.

I think Francouer is the counter-example on what could happen when you turn down a good contract before your current contract (or arb years) expires.
Uggla turned down a good contract with the Marlins (presumably because he did not want to play there), got traded to the Braves and then signed a good contract.
What would he have been looking at if this were his FA year?
