FIRE FREDI GONZALEZ
September 5th, 20129:25 pm
No one wants him to move on. We just don’t want to pay an over 30 center fielder Andruw Jones money.
Some God awful ABs right there
absolutely terrible yet again. Can we get the sports psychologist to address the team??
September 5th, 20129:26 pm
ooooooh…..oooooh, that smell, smell that surrounds you……ooooh
Like I have said many times, giving up free outs is a bad idea on most nights. There are a few times when bunting is a good strategy, but most times it is just giving up and out.
Fredi is substandard.
Looks like the bullpen will have to make this run stand up.
Bourn and Prado strike out with runner at 3rd to end Braves 7th; they’re 0-for-11 with RISP tonight, after 0-for-7 last night
Another fine effort by Bourn with a runner on third and one out. How many of you are left that want to overpay this guy to stay with the Braves?
September 5th, 20129:27 pm
We need a real ‘enforcer’ to get some of these booties agoin
They have to be throwing these games. What other explanation is there. Kidding. Only a little though.
no room for error by the bullpen. No solo HRs, etc
Is there a Rolling Stones concert afterward. What a throng! That’s why players like Bourne has a better chance of being a Brave next year than you or me going up in the space shuttle. Don’t worry we don’t want him we need a righty so you can bet your season ticket money Bourne will be wearing another uniform next year. Season ticket money? you deadbeats don’t go just sit back and criticize this anemic offense. The 5 game below .500 Phillies again will lead the league in attendance. That’s why Upton will be the center fielder next year. Bourne strikes out more than Howard.
Back to my point. Why doesn’t anybody go to these games. It took a redneck band like the typical rural Atalantan to get anybody to watch these seances. The only run was on an error. You haven’t scored an earned run in 20some innings. Here’s your chance rednecks. The strikeout king of lead off batters is coming up. With the exception of that error by our second string we’d have an 8-1 record over the 3 best records in the Nl over the last couple weeks. Ready……….ah another K. If you get into the playoffs it will be 1 game. St. Louis would beat you in a 1 game series 9outta 10 games. If, I know if we started the season right now the Phil’s and Wash would be in a dogfight. You’ll probably win because your closer unless it’s a Philly player up is awesome. I’d bet big money you won’t make the playoffs. St. Louis and the Dodgers. Let’s see what massive crowd jams there way into the stadium tomorrow? What do think another 15,000? What’s that Prado 0 for 15 tonight? Now I see why you don’t go. Today the Phil’s were 2-2 with runners in scoring position and beat the second best record 6-2. If it were only June. See ya saps.
I like bunting at times but not up, even though only by 1. Plus Georgie can score from 2nd on most any hit.
So… will we blame Kimbrel’s inning count when he blows this game?
September 5th, 20129:28 pm
I just don’t understand this team.
Bourn is almost automatic against lefties, or at least it seems to be so…I’m moving to the “let him move on” side for next year.
Not this year… a .280/.349/.401/.750 line against LHP this year. For his career, he does struggle aginst them more with a .250/.306/.339/.646 line.
At least you are coming over to the good side!
Let’s lock it down, ‘pen.
Thank god the Rox were messy and Minor was on–because this team seems incapable of scoring an earned run.
This team has fallen and it can’t get up. Is there a batter in the house that can get it done?
Chip…..senseless babble related to little.
this could end up another heartbreaker
I’m afraid that choking is part of the Braves culture. It’s not if but rather when.
September 5th, 20129:29 pm
This is getting RIDICULOUS.
Prado takes a knee high pitch that was strike three but called a ball. Then swings at ball 4 around his ankles. This team defines “choke”.
the Ghost of Chipper Jones
Well Mm gave us the 7 shut-out innings we had to have tonight. Up to the pen to preserve the win since the bats can’t do shty with RISP. Really makes me shake my head.
Give me three steps.
0 for last 18 with RISP.
Nice to see the Braves riding some momentum into October.
September 5th, 20129:30 pm
a good game by Georgie tonight.
If the Braves do not try to start hitting with RISP than we WILL lose a playoff spot. No doubt about it.
These BUMBS are NOT trying and they are hitting BUMB & its disgraceful. They deserve to be Booed.
Kudos to Mike Minor for another game which he dealt. This is a MUST win game tonight and this team does not want it. This is not good.
The pen has to hold em NOW!!! They better shut em out cause the hitters cannot do their job.
We Will Get Fooled Again
September 5th, 20129:31 pm
These hitters are in some kind of sick synergy with each other. They’re all pressing together. Same thing happened last year and really at the end of 2010, too.
The Modern Day Murderer’s Row is going to blow the save opportunity for Kimbrel in the bottom of this inning with a 6-7 run outburst. (and I’ll love it!)
Braves attendance is 16,714, which is 28 more than bought tix to last night’s game. Two of 5 smallest crowds of the season.
Looks like Kimbrel will remain well rested….
September 5th, 20129:32 pm
This game is a perfect example that RBI > than stinking OPB.
And EOF is choking it away, He is a BUMB with a Capital B. He is the worst pitcher in baseball.
Here we go! Can’t get that run in from third and now the game will slip away!
Fredi……I am getting to the point of thinking these guys could just go out there and play with Fredi and Roger sitting up in the pressbox……get ‘em out of the dugout……for a couple games.
Kevin McAlpin @KevinMcAlpin
Andrelton Simmons went 1-for-4 with a single to center for the Rome Braves, who beat Asheville 5-3
Good start for him.
September 5th, 20129:33 pm
Here is the spot
This is the save spot Freddi – Bring on Kimmy – Don’t wait till its tied
Rome holds on to win 5-3
Mac can’t even catch the balls in the air now…..sigh.
The A Bomb
You can really hear stuff with that 1977 crowd there.
someone needs to put a penny in the swear jar
September 5th, 20129:34 pm
oh what blue????
Umpire made defensive play of the game for the Braves!
NOW GO FOR THE 4-OUT SAVE ROBOT.
Bellsouth call to the bullpen. Time for Kimbrel to put on his big boy pants and get a multi inning save.
September 5th, 20129:35 pm
One freaking run against one of the worst teams in baseball.
Kimbrel for a 4-out safe? Wow! Fredi wasn’t kidding when he said that he’d do it soon… Good job Fredi!
The Ump just saved us a run. How many gifts can we get tonight? Maybe the peanut vender can go out and tickle their players when they camp under fly balls.
Say it ain’t so……
8th inning? Kimbrel?
Not liking this at all….
Nice K by EOF there!
OPB is so overrated and the proof in the pudding is this series for the Braves.
Who cares about OBP if you cannot drive in runs.
Without RBI’s you have ZERO wins.
RBI > than OPB.
Good call, Fredi.
Baby face in the 8th
I’m absolutely stunned that Fredi is bringing in Kimbrel.
Damn, Kinbrel in the 8th. hope it works…
Fredi bringing Kimbrel in. His job must really be in Jeopardy
Thinking out of the box to get the save now!!!
Now he’s learning win or lose. Sometimes games are actually important.
Wow! Here comes Kimbrel. Has Fredi been replaced?
What the hey…………….??? Fredi is breaking the mold!
Nice move. Maybe we will keep him a few more games after all.
(now if Kimbrel blows this one, I don’t wanna hear no crying, OK!)
September 5th, 20129:36 pm
ok Braves lets pull this game out..its so good to be back to watch the game.
“One freaking run against one of the worst teams in baseball.”
Oh — But we got men on base. Does that count for something? (sarcasim about the sabergeek crowd)
Its not about W’s its about WAR and VORP, etc.
Why on Earth would anyone not like this move? Is there anything that people won’t complain about?
September 5th, 20129:37 pm
Kimbrel coming to give up a 3-run jack
First September appearance for Kimbrel… he could use the “extra” work anyway.
15,000 15000 15000 that’s 3 Braves games and one Philly game
September 5th, 20129:38 pm
Even Chipper’s epic walk off HR a mere 48 hours ago isn’t enough to get fans to believe this team is going to do anything and buy a ticket.
McCann made a great stop there. Saved a run.
Nolie — As for my early vent on EOF, yes, that is baloney.
As for OBP, I am spot on right in plain English. Its about RBI;s not meaningless runners left in scoring position.
Nice block, BMac!
Nice play, Heap
huge defensive play by McCann right there. Great, great play
Got to give it to Mc Cann doing a good job behind the plate tonight.
Paint by numbers guys don’t like the closer saving game when it needs to be saved!
September 5th, 20129:39 pm
You just BLEW 2 fastballs by him….Jeez.
Come on throw a fastball dude. He was way late on the first two.
throw him a damn fast ball , he already was helpless
September 5th, 20129:40 pm
Actually, it was 72 hours ago…
Rookie NAT HYATT spoiled the perfect shut-out night for the three BRAVES teams. He’s savages for 3 R/ER, on two walks preceded by a hit.
Danged walks are killers. Of course reliefers who allow inherited runners to score don’t help either.
Rookie DAVE PETERSON comes on and immediately allows all three inherited to score, then settles in and picks up the save on a hit and three SO’s.
Doubles in this one by C BROWNSTEN, RF SKINNER, and rook 2B ROSS HEFFLEY
RBI’s by Lead-off CF TONY MUELLER , BROWNSTEN , and HEFFLINGER
Legion triumphs 5-3 over the TOURISTS
AL SIMMONS 1-4, with an E.
Had Mac not let one go right by him to be blocked by the umps arm he deserves half this save with those 2 blocks with the guy on 3rd.
Nice job, Craig!
Great job by Kimbrel and Mac.
Good job…now get some Insurance.
Heck yeah! Great job Craig and BMac!
September 5th, 20129:41 pm
Three straight breaking balls when you have an all world fastball. Mac has got to call games better.
Damn stop overthinking McCann.
So now if we put up a 5 spot here, Kimbrel still gets the save I would think.
who doesnt understand no OBP = no RBI?
But our one run wasn’t an rbi for mac….
Finally threw a FB like what he did to start… taking it to 3-2 was too much stress for me!
An E? Bench him for 3 days…
September 5th, 20129:42 pm
Good call Fredi. We would have 2 or 3 more wins this season if he had done that same thing(Yankees 4-0 game comes to mind).
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
