Minor hit 93 on that first pitch and the ball was moving as well
September 5th, 20127:33 pm
Thanks, Kat. I’ll check it out.
First, very insightful column, David. I have to agree with you that the offense carries the bulk of responsibility for the recent slump.
Second, is today’s attendance even as much as last night’s? The initial shots of the stadium make it look even worse.
What you hope does not happen is the starters allow the offensive woes to affect their pitching and encourage them to nibble, thinking they have to throw a shutout to have a chance.
September 5th, 20127:34 pm
Minor has made great strides this season.
If I take several shots of Jack & get behind the wheel right now, does that increase my odds of getting into an accident, or am I due anyways since I’ve never been in one?
Your ignorance in other factors contributing to player performances is mind boggling.
You think nothing is contributing to he offensive woes right now? Not McCann’s shoulder? Not Fredi using a completely different lineup every night by giving guys a night off and/shuffling the order? Not guys understanding their roles as hitters because if that? Not that our offensive approach is to hit the 3 run homer and not move runners, hit sac flies, etc? Your concept of the game of baseball is totally whack.

Another leadoff walk for Bourn no steal and no hit and run thats why Freddi is a joke. No fans at tonights game I wonder why because theres no excitment watching them the last two weeks. All the other team has to do is put a runner on second and do we have anybody that can hit the ball. Really like Freeman but you put a man on third and one out he seems to strike out every time. Like to see him and Heyward get hot.

Brava – it’s 6 episodes, wish there were more. That’s the problem with mini series — sometimes they’re so good you wish they’d become regular series.
Minor is looking really good through two complete innings! He’s putting together a real run of excellent pitching and has likely been the most victimized pitcher in the rotation for lack of run support. If Medlen wasn’t looking so dominant, Minor would be getting more attention for what he’s doing. Minor has turned around his season admirably!

This AJC web site has issues. Looks real bad. Has it been outsourced to Mexico?
September 5th, 20127:40 pm
Just checking long enough to let y’all know I am watching game.
September 5th, 20127:41 pm
Dang. Bad luck.
Good sign! Hard hit ball from Uggla, but hatters still going to hate im sure.
Nova Scotia Steve
September 5th, 20127:42 pm
That had to happen to Uggla.
Was an absolute rocket!
FREE MIXXO, he is a ok dude, just misunderstood. Heck I am misunderstood and still here.
September 5th, 20127:43 pm
The Braves luck is terrible again. They squared two balls and had nothing to show for it. Carlos Gonzalez made a couple nice catches that inning. He is a special player.
That’s true, Kat. I’m like that about some movies, too.
September 5th, 20127:44 pm
It should scare the s*** out of Braves nation that we can’t hit AWFUL pitchers.
September 5th, 20127:45 pm
Oh no, here come the Uggla comments
September 5th, 20127:46 pm
Good grief, now my picture is screwed up.
September 5th, 20127:47 pm
Outta here for game. WIN ONE BRAVES.
Now Minor needs to buckle down and overcome that error.
Back to normal. That was weird
The ajc network ain’t exactly what you would call speedy. Did they replace the high speed data lines for dial up modems?
September 5th, 20127:48 pm
See ya, George
Wow. That was close.
September 5th, 20127:49 pm
Maybe the Braves can change their uniforms and pretend they are another team and their hitting might return. It’s unfortunate that they can’t seem to get it going at this time of year. Who can inspire this team?
September 5th, 20127:50 pm
September 5th, 2012
blog a lot slower than before they changed it earlyer this week.
September 5th, 20127:51 pm
Nice catch, Michael!
Yes! Now let’s score some runs!
September 5th, 20127:52 pm
Great running catch by Bourn to take away a possible RBI double. Of course, the only reason the base runner was at second base is because Uggla booted about the most routine ground ball one can imagine seeing!
That was bad pitch by Minor, but Bourn saved the day.
How about some O
September 5th, 20127:54 pm
wow I’m about 5 minoutes behind on the MLB.com network. Just saw the last out
September 5th, 20127:55 pm
Bunt Biff, come on!
12 innings and zero runs scored against the worst pitching staff in the majors…great job Braves..bravo.
September 5th, 20127:56 pm
Are they replaying games from 2011 or is it just me?
Mike doing his best to help himself with the bat, again!
typical Minor game, poor kid caint get a run
taking things into his own hands
Atta boy, Mike
There goes the no-hitter.
Dr. Kenneth Noisewater
September 5th, 20127:57 pm
i agree, not a fan of the new ajc online. everytime i click on the sports page, a new format is there
With the way Minor has swung the bat recently he should be in the everyday lineup at second base.
September 5th, 20127:59 pm
We might have needed the no-hitter to hit rock bottom though.
September 5th, 20128:01 pm
Man! Minor cannot even catch a break of wild pitches. Standing at third the wild pitch rebounded off the wall hard and right back to the catcher at the plate! Fortunately, Minor made an excellent choice to remain at third or he would have been out by a long way!
Come on, Jason. Hit a bomb
a basehit would be nice.
September 5th, 20128:02 pm
we need Jason to get back on track
September 5th, 20128:03 pm
That’s about right.
Man! Can’t buy a dang run.
First baseman threw his glove out there and hoped that line drive would find the glove.
Damn, can’t catch a break here layely. lotta hard hit atom balls
You have GOT to be kidding me! OK, time for someone to find that rabbit’s foot the Rockies have in their dugout! Same story as last night. Heyward drilled a rocket that the first baseman speared or a run would have been tallied!
September 5th, 20128:04 pm
Who pi$$ed off the baseball gods
September 5th, 20128:05 pm
McCann returns after missing 3 more starts for shoulder injury
Bay Area Steve
“Who pi$$ed off the baseball gods”
Scoots. Something about dusting…
September 5th, 20128:06 pm
Forget what I said earlier. Trade him
September 5th, 20128:09 pm
Who the heck is the umpire working the plate! The second pitch on the third hitter was right down the middle of the plate and called a ball!
September 5th, 20128:11 pm
WTG, Mike! Kid is dealing.
good idea Bat, he ain’t clutch anyway according to Shaun
September 5th, 20128:12 pm
Chipper said Turner field sounded likea morgue last night hell there playing like there dead. Nats 5 homers last night and 3 tonight and we cant even get a hit with a runner on base.Im darn diehard fan but choose not to go to a game for awhile. Right now Medlen is the only one worth any money to watch.Im sure we will have a hard time tomorrow with the early start.
September 5th, 20128:13 pm
September 5th, 20128:14 pm
Good start to the inning by Chipper! Come on guys, bring him home!
Only baserunners to reach against Minor through 4 innings have been on an E4 (Uggla) and two walks.
September 5th, 20128:15 pm
I see you’re trying to fit in, ACE. That’s a good start.
Nice start chipper
Come on Freddie
it’s not 12 inings, it is actually 17 inninngs. Last time they scored was the 3rd inning of game 1. So that’s 5 there, 9 last night and 3 today
September 5th, 20128:16 pm
Please score a run here. Pretty please with a cherry on top?
September 5th, 20128:17 pm
Don’t want to upset the herd
Shaun thinks that clutch is something a woman carries.
September 5th, 20128:18 pm
You’re welcome, ACE.
We’ll take the gift, the way this offense has been going.
Finally, a break!!!
Yes! A miracle!
Two Contributors Already Called It
No runs in 17 innings! Thats what you get when you are facing Hamels, Halladay, Lee and …. what ya say? The Braves are facing Rockies no names and still can’t score?
Wow. Terrible offense.
This team is like a bunch of wild dogs. If they ever get another one down, they will all gang up and everyone gets a piece! On the other hand, if the Alpha male can’t get it done, the rest of the team tucks their tails and runs away.
They score 10 one game, get their stats up so it looks like they are not as impotent as they are offensively and then they lay down for a half dozen games and can’t score.
As I write this, the Rockies give ATL a run. It was a gimme.
sinker ball pitcher, but with a big TALL umpire, they should make him get the ball up
FINALLY got a break
September 5th, 20128:19 pm
Threatening to trade scoots breaks the curse. Thank you baseball gods
September 5th, 20128:21 pm
Poor Dan. His exercise in futility continues.
September 5th, 20128:22 pm
UGGLA has a attitude about being benched, but cant hit the ball out of the infield!!!! What a JOKE!
“Poor Dan. His exercise in futility continues.”
What about McCann….? He’s been hitting the ball well of late, right?
Okay mike channel your inner Ruth
September 5th, 20128:23 pm
Lol, Bat. Wonder what happens if you really trade him? We could win the WS.
What can anyone say that has not already been said.
The DOBBERS will gang up on me.
September 5th, 20128:24 pm
Braves are 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position, after going 0-for-7 Tuesday. But still lead 1-0 thru 4.
musta thought you meant Ruth Buzzi, Bat.
September 5th, 20128:25 pm
RISP has become the plague to this team.
Last year we choked with Boston. This year we are dancing with the Yankees!
Note to Fredi: Brilliant move playing McCann and Uggla, and even more brilliant to have them batting back-to-back.
September 5th, 20128:27 pm
A world series, Brava
Man o man
Trade the best writer on the blog but win a world series
Games like last night and tonight are why the one game playoff scares me to death. If Medlen doesn’t start that game I have little faith in the Braves winning it.
September 5th, 2012
Yeah, I think he has to take this one on the chin. Not very wise. However, it’s not like anyone else is hitting.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
