First, very insightful column, David. I have to agree with you that the offense carries the bulk of responsibility for the recent slump.
Second, is today’s attendance even as much as last night’s? The initial shots of the stadium make it look even worse.
What you hope does not happen is the starters allow the offensive woes to affect their pitching and encourage them to nibble, thinking they have to throw a shutout to have a chance.

Your ignorance in other factors contributing to player performances is mind boggling.
You think nothing is contributing to he offensive woes right now? Not McCann’s shoulder? Not Fredi using a completely different lineup every night by giving guys a night off and/shuffling the order? Not guys understanding their roles as hitters because if that? Not that our offensive approach is to hit the 3 run homer and not move runners, hit sac flies, etc? Your concept of the game of baseball is totally whack.

Another leadoff walk for Bourn no steal and no hit and run thats why Freddi is a joke. No fans at tonights game I wonder why because theres no excitment watching them the last two weeks.All the other team has to do is put a runner on second and do we have anybody that can hit the ball. Really like Freeman but you put a man on third and one out he seems to strike out every time. Like to see him and Heyward get hot.

Brava – it’s 6 episodes, wish there were more. That’s the problem with mini series — sometimes they’re so good you wish they’d become regular series.

Minor is looking really good through two complete innings! He’s putting together a real run of excellent pitching and has likely been the most victimized pitcher in the rotation for lack of run support. If Medlen wasn’t looking so dominant, Minor would be getting more attention for what he’s doing. Minor has turned around his season admirably!

The Braves luck is terrible again. They squared two balls and had nothing to show for it. Carlos Gonzalez made a couple nice catches that inning. He is a special player.

Great running catch by Bourn to take away a possible RBI double. Of course, the only reason the base runner was at second base is because Uggla booted about the most routine ground ball one can imagine seeing!

Man! Minor cannot even catch a break of wild pitches. Standing at third the wild pitch rebounded off the wall hard and right back to the catcher at the plate! Fortunately, Minor made an excellent choice to remain at third or he would have been out by a long way!

Chipper said Turner field sounded likea morgue last night hell there playing like there dead. Nats 5 homers last night and 3 tonight and we cant even get a hit with a runner on base.Im darn diehard fan but choose not to go to a game for awhile. No runs in 17 innings! Thats what you get when you are facing Hamels, Halladay, Lee and …. what ya say? The Braves are facing Rockies no names and still can’t score?
Wow. Terrible offense.
This team is like a bunch of wild dogs. If they ever get another one down, they will all gang up and everyone gets a piece! On the other hand, if the Alpha male can’t get it done, the rest of the team tucks their tails and runs away.
They score 10 one game, get their stats up so it looks like they are not as impotent as they are offensively and then they lay down for a half dozen games and can’t score.
As I write this, the Rockies give ATL a run. It was a gimme.
