The A Bomb
September 5th, 201210:43 pm
I watch Giants games as much as possible because I really like Kuiper and Krukow.
The energy in that park is off the charts. Last I checked SF is pretty expensive and kids have school.
I read Chipper’s Tweet last night. Telling.

“…..how many here actually know how to use a slide rule? other than the ‘don’t go head first’ slide rule I mean…..”
There is another one?
September 5th, 201210:45 pm
GOOD GRIEF, DAL beating the GIANTS
its abour us having so many LHed hitters the last few seasons, many of which are important starters like McCann, Heyward, Freeman, and Bourn none of whom hit lefties as well as righties, nor does Uggla over his career either
“……I read Chipper’s Tweet last night. Telling…….” the A bomb
Yeah, the pressure’s on, and it appears the wheels have come off…..on offense at least.
Well, technically, so was yours
September 5th, 201210:48 pm
yeah we should compare Atlanta to LA. I mean VJ has lived in both so it is obviously an even comparison….
Shoutout to you lady.
September 5th, 201210:49 pm
Yup cab, thats way I went and looked after I said sure never under two million. I will always admitt when I am wrong,

We have to face it. We’re just not a great sports town. It has nothing to do with how much the team wins or loses. Atlanta has become a carpetbaggers town. African-Americans don’t attend baseball in large enough numbers for us to draw 35,000-40,000 every night. Pro sports isn’t our entire life in the South like it is in NY, Philly, and Boston. SEC homers rule the South.

The last time the DODGERS drew under two million was in the mid 1970s so tiger’s statement was incorrect.

I’m reporting that last George-George comment
been fulla ‘carpetbaggers’ for decades, and all them damn Yankees already root for another team, too
September 5th, 201210:53 pm
Not ALL nolie
September 5th, 201210:54 pm
It could be a very profitable day with that 1-0 win. Dodgers are down early. Now we need Tom Layne to finish them off.
O.K. beddie-bye NYTOL. BRAVA stay strong, ARMY-strong

OH NO, I will be banned like MIXXO
September 5th, 201210:56 pm
nolie – I was a TI 30 guy. logx.
Braves are middle of the road in attendance — but the PROMOTIONS department along with front office should have recognized the September attendance pattern and addressed, They dropped the ball.
Giants are No. 4 but everyone swims out of the bay onto the field?
No — they come from outlying areas — San Jose, Santa Rosa etc….
Braves’ promotion folks aren’t doing a great job of getting people to come in a pennant race.
Is there any other kind of strong?

the biggest issue with me & going to braves game is the freakin TRAFFIC. i went to the chipper bobble-head night- 2 hours to get there (from Lenox & GA400) and 2 hours to leave (between waiting in the parking lots). city of atlanta is just plain stupid on to use traffic flows when it comes to sporting events. granted, there was a preseason falcons game, but still. they close certain roads or only make them one way. an absolute nightmare driving to turner field. going to a falcons game is a lot easier, especially with marta there.

Good you love doggies, I love my Peanut.
September 5th, 201210:59 pm
Can’t be trains from the ‘burbs?
Ticket, express train, all-you-can-eat section — what $30-35? People wouldn’t go?
yeah, I was hyperbolatin’ about the entire carpetbagger thingy
September 5th, 201211:00 pm
I love my little Frodo and Rosie, too, George. They’re like my children, except they’re perpetual toddlers.
anybody watch the new JJ Abrams show, Revolution, tonight?
September 5th, 201211:02 pm
Outta here, talk to y’all tomorrow if not banned.
September 5th, 201211:03 pm
they would go A Bomb- plus if you build restaurants/bars around the stadium, fans would come & go as they please, not all at once, which creates the traffic snarl. yet the city wants to protect the scumbags who live around the stadium, hustling you non stop for $$.
Have a good one, George.
nolie – Revolution debuts 9/17, according to cab’s quick data mining…

September 5th, 201211:05 pm
Hey Dr. whatever happened to the KFC outside the stadium? That was a restaurant.
Bourn on team scoring 1 run, enough for Minor and ‘pen tonight:
“Yeah, sometimes just enough is enough. Mike and Owen and Kimbrel, they held it down for us. We’ve been struggling with runners in scoring position lately, but through a season you have streaks where it happens like that. At the time we’re still getting wins while it’s happening. So when we break out of it, we’ll really be on a roll.”
wow this blog is so slow loading since they did stuff to it. Sorry for double post.
September 5th, 201211:06 pm
Kimbrel on Minor’s progress since beginning of season:’
“He’s turned the page. He’s become a completely different pitcher. He’s attacking guys, he’s going right at them. Doesn’t seem as timid out there on the mound. Seems like he’s more in control when he’s out there, and you’ve seen it with his outings. He’s really become a better pitcher.”
pilot was tonight I think. I am looking at a copy of it on tv
September 5th, 201211:07 pm
i think the KFC became a meth lab. either that or turned into a Popeye’s. either way, it should be demolished to make way for a bar.
September 5th, 201211:08 pm
I assume “Owen” is EOF?
Prime time just beginning here, not listed anywhere…
September 5th, 201211:12 pm
Even DOB has double posted more often lately… something’s up with the AJC servers.
An Un earned run – Ohhhh! Yeah!!!!
September 5th, 201211:16 pm
It was widely known that teaching children to read a slide rule is important. But, did they teach them? NO
I don’t know know what was your point and don’t care – realy dont’. I know that was significant but I do know it was not taught……
September 5th, 201211:17 pm
Well if Atlanta’s in that bad a shape revitalization might be the answer. Too big a city to allow key areas to become scumholes.
Still the smartest guy in the room.
September 5th, 201211:22 pm
scumholes is prolly a bit strong. It ain’t Detroit
who wasn’t taught to read a slide rule?
September 5th, 201211:25 pm
Stat of the day: Braves are 28-2 when Costanza starts.
September 5th, 201211:29 pm
Hey nolie check MLB attendance and see where Detroit lies!
People don’t mind the war zone….LOL
September 5th, 201211:30 pm
actually I was kidding ABomb, I have close ties the the town and the Tigers
September 5th, 201211:31 pm
and Georgie was the reason that we won all 28 of them games, just like tonight…..
September 5th, 201211:47 pm
Kimbrel is right,Minor has really come around, thought the best he would be was a .500 kind of guy, some times its nice to be wrong.

“codes for free meals at local restaurants”
I’ll sue. Don’t think I won’t sue. Braveheart? Somebody owes me a frickin’ eggroll.
September 5th, 201211:57 pm
“Braves are 28-2 when Costanza starts.”
I’m callin’ BS. I mean, it ain’t like I’ll actually look it up. But, BS.
September 6th, 201212:00 am
BAS – without stretching the boundaries of my interest, Constanza has played in 18 MLB games this year – 28-2 might be a stretch…
September 6th, 201212:05 am
However, stretching a bit, we appear to be 9-1 when he starts…
Just wanna say: I appreciate your effort here. I hope you continue to find the energy, and the wherewithal to continue posting. I suspect we won’t always agree, but I appreciate your defense of Brava, and your call-out of that Sandusky nonsense.
September 6th, 201212:07 am
His post could certainly include last year. Your 9-1 makes me afraid his 28-2 is plausible. I’m still callin’ BS. Though, if nothing else, I wanna be clear: I ain’t lookin’ it up.
Chipper, with all due respect, when your team is (not) hitting the way it is, it does not inspire fans during this recession/despression to pony up the dollars to watch the Braves – especially on a week when schools started all over the region. With the exception of Sunday’s theatrics, the team has played uninspired, lackluster, treading-water-while-sharks-circle baseball for the past few weeks. Given the team’s efforts in late August/September the last few seasons, fans have become fatalisitc about team chances, and seem to be waiting for the other shoe (spike?) to drop at some point this month.
For the purists on this forum, what I am about to say will rankle them. While pitching wins more than its fair share, chicks and dudes dig the long ball, mammo’s, etc. They want to see slugging, clutch hits, big rips, and baserunners running around bases like scared jack rabbits. Even Monday, seeing the Braves “blow up” and score six runs on five “meh” hits does nothing to inspire locals to spin the turnstiles.
Four hits today. One run. Only spectacular pitching against a second division team kept the sharks at bay for another September day. However, four hits tells me that there’s blood in the water.
September 6th, 201212:12 am
Looks like 18-11 in 2011 (rough count) – I think we are safe on it not being 28-2…
September 6th, 201212:13 am
Bas: Thanks, and what fun would it be to agree all the time?
September 6th, 201212:14 am
Thanks VJ. I don’t know if I was clear, but I ain’t lookin’ it up.
Are you sayin’ I can call FFG a liar? I want to be certain if I’m gonna call a cat a liar…
12 hours until game time – I guess I should move on for the evening…
September 6th, 201212:15 am
Though the Rockies have had a pretty bad year, I would hasten to mention that they are a pretty darned good hitting team. Even with the splits in favor of Coors Field, they still have some very capable hitters.
So holding them to 0 runs and 2 hits is still a very good performance from our staff.
Bill @ 11:17
Yep, rocked the house.
After Tonight, DOB Is Having EXTRA HELPINGS of the JUUUICE!
Folks. Tip of the cap to Minor for being awesome and keeping the collapse at bay!
Atta boy, Miny!
September 6th, 201212:16 am
I would never be so rude to a fellow blogger – perhaps he has arithmetic deficiencies…or was feeling irrational exuberance after the win…
“what fun would it be to agree all the time?”
This is my whole reason for existence, in this place. I love the debates. Love the back-and-forth. Am entertained when two well-reasoned folk go at it. I just wish I could do it without pissin’ people off.
September 6th, 201212:17 am
Don’t know if the Sandusky cat was PL or some other assclown.
September 6th, 201212:18 am
No, it’s not. Should have held them to 0 runs and no more than 1 hit.
BAS – I seem to have the same disability…
September 6th, 201212:19 am
Avoid the Noid!
Bat -did you see Tom O came on to complain about him? (after I mentioned it to him on the Twitterama)…
Bill Clinton could sell a ketchup popsicle to a lady in a white dress!
September 6th, 201212:21 am
What fun would it be if you couldn’t piss somebody off from time to time???
You idiot hacks…in honor of skip I’m taking my ‘niece’ to the game tomorrow. Offsite meeting.
September 6th, 201212:22 am
I love me a popsicle. I love me some ketchup. But if Jessica Alba herself was pitchin’ ketchup popsicles, I gotta tell girl to go whistle.
September 6th, 201212:24 am
With Meds,Minor and Beachy at the end of 13,by 14 we could have a new big 3,maybe not as great as the last ,but who knows?
September 6th, 201212:25 am
I did. Wish he would drop in at least from time to time. Good contributors to the blog community are not being replaced as fast as they leave.
September 6th, 201212:32 am
“What fun would it be if you couldn’t piss somebody off from time to time???”
Well: Yeah. Of course.
But, I don’t wanna piss everybody off, all the time. And, it seems I’m trending that way. Brava is an above-average contributor here. I don’t like her feeling so pissed off that she leaves.
(I don’t much like being called naive, either.)
September 6th, 201212:37 am
“Meds,Minor and Beachy”
If you really think about it, that’s frickin’ nuts. Undersized projected-reliever, overdrafted, low-velo LH, and an undrafted 3B. Crazy.
Makes you wonder how much scouting is luck. Certainly a not-insignificant percentage. Here’s to hopin’ Med’s command, Beachy’s arm, and Minor’s approach don’t go anywhere.
(Disclaimer: I’m really rooting for Minor because I want to tall Efrim he was wrong.)
September 6th, 201212:39 am
Where’s my coupons?
Where are the codes?
Bas- that’s denial in its purest form
September 6th, 201212:40 am
Let’s hope Hudson stays out of trouble in the first inning and somehow the braves score some runs.
I’ll quote Ron White’s coupon-bit, word-for-word. You know I will.
September 6th, 201212:42 am
I think first pitch is before I go to work tomorrow. Something wrong with that. How do I watch at work if the game starts before work?
THE SYSTEM IS BREAKING DOWN!
September 6th, 201212:43 am
Ah, you don’t piss everyone off, man. I’ve always thought you cared more for this blog community than anyone else. Sometimes you fight for it, that’s the way I read it, anyway.
I didn’t say she was naive, only thin skinned. But I am done with her. Some folks it’s just better not to engage. She seems to be obsessed that I am posting under multiple screen names. You’d think of all things, she’d realize I really don’t mind speaking my mind and having folks know it was me that said it.
I have only used DS1, Wayne in Utah (he is now dead to me!) and a rare appearance by “Proton” the ultra positive blogger that I bring out once in a blue moon. Unfortunately, I am not those other bloggers who like to torment her…………
September 6th, 201212:46 am
C’mon, let BAS think he’s a bad dude! It’ll help his self image.
How’d you do during that storm last week? I haven’t been on much so if you gave a report I didn’t catch it.
September 6th, 201212:47 am
Don’t sweat it cuz. We got the pdt covered down south. Getawayplayday.
September 6th, 201212:48 am
Not much to it, Wayne. Some wind gust and rain, lucky. . We’ve had more rain the last two days just from normal weather.
September 6th, 201212:51 am
Glad to hear it Bat!
September 6th, 201212:52 am
I hate writing on this iPad piece of junk.
September 6th, 201212:55 am
“Sometimes you fight for it”
F’n A. ‘Cause I’m like you. So many have left. If scoots did: last straw, man.
Wayne, I wasn’t saying you threw out ‘naive.’ And, she accused me of the multiple names, too. Sucks. While I agree I think she’s a bit thin-skinned, I can also understand why she (and others, as they’ve said so) feels barraged by some sort of ‘clique.’ Bottom line: she’s worth reading, she’s Army, she’s a Braves fan, and she’s a positive here. By any definition, that deserves some positive reinforcement.
I guess your vacation is over, huh. Sounds like you had a good time.
September 6th, 201212:57 am
“I hate writing on this iPad piece of junk.”
Bat on the phone… Man, how I miss Bat on the phone. Loaf on the Blackberry was good. Bat on the phone was priceless.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
