Folks…have you noticed that when any of these super, brown nosing homers start waxing poetic about any pitcher or player they a) get hurt, b) start to suck or c) they start to suck more? For example, how many times did we have to hear that homer with Don Sutton on the radio read Tim Hudsons stats on his 4 run lead and how he is 168 and whatever…lol…Folks, thats not a tip of the hat Bobby Cocks style. Thats the biggest anchors in baseball! DOB just cursed Medlen. Watch and see and remember this Ole Cap Tipper!

Way to ride the momentum of Chipper’s huge HR Sunday for a whole one game, Braves.
This is exactly why the Bravos will be sitting at home watching the Dodgers play the Cards in that wild card playoff.
Said earlier that they would go 2-5 on the homestand – I’m sticking with that prediction.

I’m sure people will think that having given up only 2 runs, it was a quality start for Hanson. But when you can go more than 5-6 innings, it’s not in my book. The team plays horribly behind Hanson and yet we keep running him out there. As I said, it would take a miracle to win tonight and alas, the team seems to be running out of them. The diff b/t Braves and Nats – we lose to scrub teams and the Nats pummel them. WC may be too ambitious a goal for this team.

Right now, we are staying on top of the Wild Card race…because Kris Medlen has been pretty much a guarantee to win every time out. Knowing that, the Braves only have to go win 3 out of the other 8 games in a ten game stretch….to play .500 ball overall (meaning that Medlen wins his two starts).
However, if Medlen comes back down to earth…..disaster looms…because it does not look like anyone else in the rotation is ready to step up and take the slack. Hudson has been inconsistent, Minor is very hittable, Maholm is a .500 pitcher at best, Hanson…well, we saw tonight what he’s about.
If Medlen was winning only 80% of the time the past 2 months….we’d be behind the Dodgers and the Cardinals in the Wild Card race. It’s taken Medlen pitching lights out to keep us ahead in the standings.
Is it realistic to expect Medlen to never lose again? Or is it realistic to believe that someone in our rotation is going to step up and pitch like a stud the past 4 weeks of the season?
It is tiring seeing the old “tipping the hat to the other team” mantra that is being drank up like Jim Jones kool-aid. 3 errors tonight, no clutch hitting, making the bullpen look like Firemen of the Year candidates……who cant win when playing against a team like the Braves put on the field tonight? Hell, I think I could pitch a few scoreless innings against this bunch.

With 26 games left in the season, if we go 13-13 the rest of the way, we’ll finish the season with the same 89 wins that we ended last season with.

Difference between the Yankees and the Braves.
Yankees manager Joe Girardi says during the post game interview that they need to start hitting…..Derek Jeter says that they need to play better or they arent going to make the playoffs.
Braves manager Fredo Gonzalez does the old “tip your hat to the other team” mantra…says that Tommy Hanson pitched pretty good….says that the Braves hit the ball hard tonight, just at the other team (how many times did Bobby Cox say that?).
Real fans in New York want to hear the truth. Gullible Braves fans want their self esteem to be massaged and told that it wasnt their favorite players fault that we lost tonight.
We sucked tonight. We sucked for 27 innings over the weekend (Chipper bailed us out in the 28th inning to prevent a 3 game sweep). We are depending on a pitcher who wasnt in the rotation until 60% of the season was over with to pitch like Superman. Great game plan!

I have a lot of relatives in the Baltimore area and most blame that problem on the owner, not Wren. There was no question but that Cal treated that team like a fiefdom and there were hard feelings in the clubhouse because of it.
